I am focused on helping others learn Morse code. It is a practical and useful skill in amateur radio. And honestly, it is just fun! It has been said that your enjoyment of Morse code is proportional to your proficiency with it. And in my experience, I have found it to be true!
As you consider using my videos to help you gain proficiency in Morse code, know that there are many many other resources. I have a large number of them listed on my Morse Code Ninja website ( morsecode.ninja/resources/index.html ). Keep it fresh. If you get bored, try a different approach.

Eleven Letter Words - 15wpm
For each eleven-letter word, try to head-copy it. First, the word is sent in Morse code. Then it is spoken. And finally, it is sent again in More code. If you missed it the first time when it was sent, the second time allows you an opportunity to learn the word. (More speeds below).

Just 1 - is T ?? I'm new here so might not understand how people learn
Greetings. Yeah, this lets you get familiar with the letter T before moving on to the letter A. You might want to read more about the course on my Morse Code Ninja website - morsecode.ninja/learn/index.html#MorseCodeCourse . Hello again. Once again you made my day…. Holy smokes. How long did it take you to get proficient or efficient? Have a great day
Thanks, Michael! I'm glad you are finding a fun challenge. Once you master ICR, it gets easier to tackle longer words. At 40wpm, you are likely getting into IWR territory. It takes a while to develop a large vocabulary of word sound patterns. Enjoy! I have a 20-course IWR series to learn the Top 500 words as sound patterns. It isn't yet published because of the size of it, but if you are interested, send me an email, and I'll send you the download links. I’m gettin a lot out of this. 49m so far and getting many of them before spoken, though I am writing. Taking break from head copy, trying to develop instant letter recognition. This practice is increasing my confidence. Just learned morse code in May.

So, here you are, listening to the 45 WPM exchanges and thinking "I'm really cool; I can copy this". Yeah, OK, some of us can, but at our age most of us will be dead or demented in a decade or so, SO ... unless you want to have the CW bands turn into the FT8 bands in a few years, consider slowing down a bit this weekend so we can keep the new CW guys excited. Please! dit dit
So, here we are at 35 WPM, just about the top speed that makes for comfortable copy by experienced CW operators during Field Day. Above this speed 1/ you're showboating, and 2/ annoying to copy, since we've gotta listen to your callsign 3-5 times before we get it.
Thanks, Kurt - love your stuff. de k4zi

Excellent. Yet I much prefer your other version where you repeat twice, then say the word, then follow up with the CW again for that word.
Thanks for the feedback, Marc! You are welcome to generate custom variations. I have open-sourced the Morse Code Ninja software - github.com/zoglmannk/Morse-Code-Ninja . If you are technically inclined, you should find it amendable to create a custom practice set. All of the practice set source material is in the practice-sets directory. @@KurtZoglmann Hello Kurt, Please consider doing that. How you do this now is a perfect idea: Play the word twice with a pause between, then say what it is, then play the word once more, then have a chirp. Yet if this were to be redone with a slightly larger pause between the first and second pass, that would be even more helpful.
I am a scientist and very analytical therefore struggling at lower speed copying. I will try to tap into the unconscious part of the brain. Easier said than done I’m assuming but will give it a shot. Thank you for this video.

Great overview! Now I understand why I got to about 30wpm back in the late 80's when I took a break from my hobbies because my career took my time. Now retired, I am trying to get my CW speed back up. I have now maxed out at about the 28wpm you suggest, and trying to move into word recognition. Beyond that, your tips will be quite helpful, I am certain. Thank you once again. --Mark, KE6BB

Now here, I can copy about 75% of single letters, still having trouble with full words at even much slower speeds...frustrating
This is quite understandable and common. With single letters, you have (relatively) a lot of time to process and recognize them compared to copying continuously. The key is to continue to reduce the recognition time down. Recently I have written an article that digs into all of the nitty gritty details. You might find it interesting/relevant - morsecode.ninja#DefiningICRAndBeyond . Don't give it up. It gets easier with practice! I wish you all the best on your Morse Code journey! 73 de AD0WE dit dit
