      You need to keep your voice box on and moving. For K it is not moving, it moves for the G. Try adding a before and say A-GREAT. All vowels are voiced with the voicebox moving so this should help to keep the voice on for the G. Good luck!

    In my mind the confusion starts back in a 1980's version of a police TV show series in the 70's (Dragnet?) where the song goes "Bom-Bom-Bom-Bom-Bweado.... BASE!" BUT... back then when you were getting car stereo systems installed you might hear it referred to as "BASS"....??? SO....???? Saying went, back then, ... "you need bigger BASS"??? Uh... what? So... it's BASE player, not (fish) BASS player, right? (Hahaha - please help. This has been messing my mind up for decades).

    As a non native English speaker, your explanation and pronounciation makes the most sense to me compared to other teachers. I do hear the difference when you say those words, but when I try to pronouce them, it is just difficult. I always thought dr/J are pronounced in the same way, until people look confused when I try to say "Jane" but "drain" came out. Now I know what I need to do to improve, thank you so much.

  • @joseantoniodavila2752

    I use both and do so with identity. Never thought of it. From my experince, some Brits don't like at all to hear words like "twenty" skipping the T but don't seem to mind in words like identity

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech Před 4 dny

      Not saying a T after N in words is fine. It is more a dialect, not formal versus informal. You can remove the T in words like internet (inner--net) and winter (winner)

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech Před 4 dny

      So you can say it at university and be ok.

    I skip the T because it's how I heard it almost always where I learned English, Ontario. Once my landlady told me to grab the keys which where in the kitchen, on the counter. There they were, on the gas counter. I understood by chance. That counter is contador in Spanish, the same. The large counter in a kitchen is what I called bench then.
