Channel of catalan guitarist Àlex Villalonga @hyperboreal Focusing since 2006 on guitar adaptations of prog rock tunes (Genesis, Camel or King Crimson among others), piano/classical/film music and, generally, music for guitar that hasn't been overplayed. I'm not a professional guitarist, my audience is limited to a couple of cats and you. No relation known to metal band with same name. Benvinguts!
Study No.4 in G Major - Anthony Phillips
A quick recording of the fourth study included in the book "Six Pieces for Guitar" by Anthony Phillips. I placed a capo on the first fret to match the higher pitch of Ant's recording of the study. This is a very interesting one with lots of different patterns for the right hand on the three sections of the piece.
I was reading throughout the second section of the score, the transcription here differs in a few bars from Ant's recording so I did a combo of the recording and what's written on the score.
As usual, the cats were interrupting and you can't see it on the screen but I had a black beast lying down on the table next to the mic, always looking at me inquisitively during all the performance. It's been quite a difficult task for me lately to find the right time for recording.

?What guitar is that you're playing? I play mostly steel string acoustic, I have a classical, but I find the necks too wide. I have a vid on here playing a $100 Yamaha boat paddle guitar that I forced a Genesis tune out on. Not easy lol.
It's a study guitar by Picado from Barcelona. On the contrary, I find classical guitar necks more comfortable to play and I get better sounding results than with the narrower necks of the acoustics.
Jealous of those long finger stretches, me with my sausage short stumps. Epic sweeps, nice tonal changes getting close to the bridge when needed. Drop D is so soul touching. is there any band as epic as Camel? This is my favorite song of all their catalogue. Did you figure out this arrangement yourself, as it is not a guitar song as you well know, if so, well done SIR!
