    Not a fan of the color choices but that is purely preference based. I'm sure it works well for your taste or as a piece among others. I do like the shape you gave it. Either way, it is well done. Good work.

    Use orange striper which smells like oranges. Put Saran Wrap over it Let it sit for an hour check and see if the finish is lifting and most of it will come off with the saran wrap. Clean up the remainder the same way.

      @@redtimberstudios I had a bunch of fairly plain poplar at one time that really didn’t have much going for it as far as unique grain pattern or color. I bought some wood dye packs and made some fairy cool (my opinion lol) tigers eye bowls with it. I add color quite a bit. Even if it’s a bronze or gold band. Keep doing what you’re doing man. I can go somewhat fast with anything 1 1/2 or less. It's a struggle with larger bits. I think I need to stair step them up about 1/4 in size for a smoother result. Unfortunately I need to buy more. 😩

    Looks great! I've found on burned bowls that putting down a couple of layers of hardwood floor sanding sealer (sand to 320 between coats) really evens out the shine on semi-gloss and gloss finishes. OB Shine Juice is too thin so I go with sanding sealer meant for floors. Just be careful no to coat too many times, it'll turn into this translucent milky color.

    How do you keep the wood from cracking while drying? Every time i try to dry limbs this small, they always develop cracks. I have painted, wood sealed, resin coated and even wax coated the ends and still get cracks.

    • @redtimberstudios
      @redtimberstudios Před 3 měsíci

      It's definitely hard to avoid cracks. Here lately, I just use wood glue to fill the cracks and sand it back. If I have a lot of time in a project, I'd rather patch it up versus throw it away as long as it looks good. Realistically, I should turn each project 2x. Do a rough turn. Give it a day or two to let the moisture come out and then finish turn the rest. I'm super impatient and rush through them.

    • @redtimberstudios
      @redtimberstudios Před 3 měsíci

      Also I didn't turn this in one setting. I rounded it off. Spent about 5 days, putting it in the microwave for a couple minutes each day to get the moisture out. I use a moisture tester to test the moisture so I know when it's dry.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it. They aren't too complicated to make. There's multiple different ways to turn them based on the different style of chucks. With these turns I just make sure my chisels are sharp and I take my time sanding and water pop. You can make this same glass fairly quick. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll help you out as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated 🙏.
