According to the local news, this was the strongest "EF-4 tornado in over a decade". Sadly, 5 people were killed by this tornado, 4 of them in Greenfield, IA. Amtrak Hiawatha has been running between Chicago and Milwaukee for years. Today, May 21, 2024, marks the first extension of this run to the Twin Cities, with service terminating at St Paul Union Depot in the Twin Cities. This is the first revenue run west of Milwaukee.

On 5/21/2024 Amtrak's Borealis service between Chicago and the Twin Cities will commence. Equipment is to be GE P42 engines, Horizon coaches and an Amfleet cafe car. This video shows the Empire Builder (#7) hauling the very first REVENUE Borealis equipment up to the Twin Cities in preparation for the inaugural run. This location, Reesville, WI was the site of a major derailment in June of 2023....

@@TNandTXRailfan hey there I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I've had fellow rail fans tell me to go down to Snowflake and ask at the yard office but I don't have the balls to do that. There are several Arizona railroad Facebook pages that would be better to ask. I just caught it on a pure fluke.

Not a thing WRONG with that Paint Scheme! I would have preferred some "Red Candy Striping On The Handrails" but maybe it'll come! For KCS Fans, at the very least, they kept the KCS Road Number! It's perfect! Just CPKC Please...WASH THE LOCOMOTIVES, AND KEEP US ALL HAPPY!

Very nice aerial view of the new CPKC locos!
Instead of renumbering locomotives and making them into "real" CPKC locomotives, they painted them with the old numbers and put CP or KCS under the numbers. This is going to be confusing.
Why would that be confusing? What would be confusing is integrating two different railroads numbering schemes into one numbering scheme. Look what Canadian national has done with IC and gtw. They get the new colors and keep the old numbers and reporting mark. Easy peasy.
I saw earlier the 'actual' first units painted in the new scheme were 50 HO Athearn non-powered units to be given away to various department heads.
Where was this? Number 7 covers a long range.

If you like funiculars, there's a short one at Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson Missouri that's VERY unique! It has two rails at the bottom, four rails at the midway meet and three rails at the top. And, there's a 180° curve just before the lower station. The Corps of Engineers said a funicular like that wouldn't work so, they built it themselves and works just fine!

517 ain't cabbage! B32-8WH locomotive - Amtrak bought the only 20 of this variant equipped with head-end power. 2 were repainted & renumbered for Amtrak California.
90221 is cabbage.....
