Viking Burial For My Log Cabin
This is the final chapter of a two and a half year journey to live out my dreams, wild and free in the wilderness. To understand the full story please watch the one hour video documenting everything from the first tree being cut all the way to what happened and why the cabin needed to go. Here is the link for that video:

Why I Burned Down My Log Cabin | Full Story
zhlédnutí 685KPřed měsícem
This is the story of how I lost my log cabin, covering over two years of my journey to disappear into the wild. I built this cabin alone, deep in the north. Showing up in this place for the first time I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I staked out a Placer mining gold claim, with the intentions of mining it like the old timers did, by hand and using a make shift wash plant. B...

For 91 gruelling days, I battled relentless weather, the isolating vastness of the Arctic, and the ever-present challenge of self-reliance. From breathtaking landscapes to bone-chilling storms, this episode captures the untamed beauty and unforgiving power of the Arctic. See me navigate treacherous wat...

Sometimes, the greatest challenges aren't the ones you anticipate. This leg of the journey threw us a curveball - a detour, you might say. Adam, my partner, was forced to turn back due to an unfortunate injury. Saying goodbye in Paulatuk was a quiet affair, a shared understanding hanging heavy in the air. This episode delves into the solitary rhythm of navigating the Passage alone. It's a dance...

We're officially in the thick of it now, folks. Every day is a grind - endless stretches of open water, muscles screaming in protest, and the constant battle against whatever weather the Arctic throws our way. But let me tell you, the payoff is unreal. Crystal-clear water reflects the never-ending summer sun, chunks of ice pierce the horizon, and the whole place is bathed in this crazy, 24-hour...

The paint is still fresh on our newly built row boats, and it's time to put them on the ocean for Sea Trials. We begin this trip from Cortes Island, which is off the west coast of Canada near Vancouver. Loaded up with enough food and supples for a month at sea we leave the island and head north. Surrounded by snowcapped mountains while gliding along on the crystal clear waters of the pacific. L...

Solo log cabin build without any music or words. From clearing the land and harvesting logs, to milling lumber on an Alaskan chainsaw mill for kitchen countertops. The cabin was water tight in 60 days, and I moved in right away. I used spruce logs that were still green due to the lack of time before winter set in. I lived on site during the entire build process staying in a hot tent.

    Man that looks like my kind of heaven.I wish I could have done something like this in my younger days but pushing 52 now and dealing with a neck thats been broken twice and a bad hip that dream has long since surpassed me.Maybe in the next life Ill be blessed enough to venture into the wilderness and find out what I'm made of.I think I could have done something like this and been fine ,I have lots of building skills in framing and roofing and plumbing my main skill and profession is Electrical and I have many years of bushcraft and survival experience.Anyway ,thanks for sharing your awesome experience. I enjoyed watching.Also , your pooch needed some muttlucks for his paws .One more thing Bears are dicks,😅 some electric fence wire around the greenhouse would be a good thing for the bears.Sad end my friend,Canadian Gov sucks ass ,all Government sucks.

    I would have pulled and saved things like the door, all the sawn lumber, cut the rest into nice seasoned firewood and rebuilt on the right section or as stated below just pull it down and move it piece by piece; but I would have also made damn sure I was on the right section to start with.

    Why wouldn't you anchor it to some beams and try to use a come along and bench it over 100ft ? Going by the looks of that map and GPS print you were within sliding distance? I understand frustration would make you wanna burn it down bit I would have tried to scoot it and then given the land the same amount of trees used. All cut and stacked

    I have been scouring CZcams and Reddit looking for a channel that is like yours, that has gone out and done a series like the one you did in Labrador. And they just don't exist, except for Greg Oven's or Zachary Fowler's 30 day survival challenges. You're one of a kind. Which makes me sad, because I would like to see more content like that. I'm sure it's prohibitively difficult, but it's fantastic stuff.

  • @CanadianSledDog
    @CanadianSledDog Před 8 dny

    I adopted a stray rez dog from Saskatchewan, Zora (in the pic) looks part wolf but she's the sweetest thing you'll ever meet. If you look up a tamaskan dog, that's exactly what she looks like. But the odds that someone intentionally bred a tamaskan in Saskatchewan, then abandoned it, are basically less than zero. So she must have won the genetic lottery. That dog is a genius. She is leaps and bounds more intelligent, more social (polite), and more adaptable, than any dog I've met before or since. She's a bikepacker and canoe tripper extraordinaire. Respectfully doesn't chase the wildlife just tells me about them, but she's also treed a grizzly when it got too close to my parents.

  • @CanadianSledDog
    @CanadianSledDog Před 8 dny

    That looked terrifying, I can kind of see why you ran it because it didn't look bad at the top. But you really got lucky to come out with your canoe and all your gear, not to mention more or less unharmed! Although by the sounds of the holes in your dry suit you were hitting something in there! Those mountain rivers are really quite terrifying (even after they leave the mountains), the way they just keep pushing and rarely give you an eddy pool, and most of all, all the trees in them, often invisible! Man this makes Ontario seem even better than it already does! We almost friggin died in the Sturgeon River by Edmonton in high water, we were going upstream and everything was fine, then round a bend and the river was pushing full force into a huge strainer and then straight into a wall, undercutting. We managed to stay upright and paddle out of it but I swear we would've been buried in that river until the water went down if we hadn't.
