This is actually pretty brilliant. I neither want to pay for nor store an ultrasonic for my minimal use. This is a solution a can totally get behind.
Ha, your cranks remind me of my old RF Deus XC (such a cool model name). I just cancelled an order for the XTR platform style pedals btw, because despite a few shootout reviews that pitted them as one of the best against other brands/models, most of the reviews of just the XTR platforms said they have a flaw where the seal pops out. Have you had that happen with your XTR platforms, and does it ever happen with the XC race model?
Yes it does. Now that I think about it... I have mine sent really light to remove . But when I have it tight I have no problem. It's a preference for me.
@@AlbieVas I found out Shimano about 2ish yrs ago redesigned them by making a small ridge on the spindle to keep the seals from popping out. So I guess you just have to be careful where you buy and make sure you can return them if you get the older ones. There's 2 product pages for these on Amazon, one for $151, and one for $146. The cheaper ones have at least one seal complaint, the other has a guy talking about his being the new design. What I don't like is that both product pages have a "Visit the Shimano Store" link under the product name, which seems to indicate they're both from the Shimano Store, but they have two other dealer names mentioned as the seller. The one that is a "Global" biz seems to have the old stock. I'm going to call Shimano about this and ask if there's an easy way to identify old vs new, because neither had adequate pics to tell.

There are Amazon reviews with photos of the rubber grip peeling off in short time. Anyone else experience this? The price seems high for something that doesn't last a number of seasons.
I have not had any problems ... I use them on every ride for the last two years. The elbow ones work great on skin but I put them over my jerseys and they slide.

I do love climbing and having the roads totally closed would be fantastic. Plus, we never get to ride in big groups up here in Montana, so I would love to attend an event with a good turnout and maybe ride in pack most of the day, or at least part of the day. Ha ha-i just bought a pair of those. The race version. But, my bike is so different! 21 lb ti hardtail with 80mm travel race fork. Tubeless, disc, 26" wheels. I don't race, just riding local CX trails. Gravel, rock gardens, beaver dams, deer flies. 😬😬. Can't wait until l summer!!

No, you don't have to remove the Fox stickers
Very nice wrench! Highly recommend it too. I got it last year and my case is organized a bit different but the same tool. I came here bc I forgot how to set it 🤦🏻♂️ I don’t like to force these type of tools, I actually baby them. Is like building a deck with an out of plum level. What’s the point! 🤷🏻♂️ Always put them away set at zero BTW, it’s a good practice to help it stay calibrated.
