This game should have been a blow out , how many big Southeast offensive plays called back for ticky tack penalties . Noles were playing a massive physical loaded Vanguard team , a QB who made the cover of Madden , and the zebras this night . Southeast overcame all of that , they are the better team here .

I always wanted to see this game. I played for Rutherford, and we loss the semifinals against Lakeland in the previous game. People referred to that game as the state championship. Despite the score, Aquinas looked better than I thought. They just had a bad night. Maybe it was the cold weather. A lot of us looked at the final score and was like had we beat Lakeland like we should've, we would've easily beat Aquinas too, and won state." It made losing to Lakeland the semi-finals hurt even more. But after watching this game, I'm not as certain. We got beat by St. Thomas Aquinas in the championship game the next year, and that Rutherford team was the best in school history. We only had a few seniors, and some of the players that replaced us were even better than we were. It baffled me that they lost to Aquinas, but now I see why.

Great game overall on both sides. excellent coaching. Unforgettable, but Miami Southridge got rob on a bad call by the refs that was truly the difference in the game for them. Manatee quarterback fumbled the ball and Southridge recovered it with the lead at 21-19 and the refs reversed the call giving it back to Manatee. Heartbreaker. Even the sports commentators had questioned that call themselves.
