It still feels old tech, to me. In the 70s I was an apprentice TV engineer, we’d build all sorts of ‘unusual’ concepts, but probably years ahead of the time. I worked part time in a DIY store too. I recall when myself and another apprentice built a ‘hidden’ speaker system, we were building disco consoles at the time, but tried an in home concept of speakers behind walls, the problem was high frequency transmission, through wall, even bullet tweeters didn’t work, so I’d be interested to hear how this turned out?

Could never get on with in ear headphones. They'd always slip and the bass would disappear. Give me over the ear everytime 🙂

I'll never forget the first time I heard music played through stereo headphones (around 1970?) - they were pretty good KOSS **cans**, if I remember correctly. It was a recording of a symphony orchestra, and so had quite a wide spread of instruments and was a fairly live recording. I think I remember saying to my father "It feels like I'm there!" Thinking back on it now, it must have been similar to what the audiences in 1939 experienced when they first saw the technicolor scenes in the film **The Wizard of Oz**. Apparently there were numerous audible gasps! Thanks for the amusing and informative video.

This is not a personal attack on whoever made this video, so don’t take it as such, but could someone explain the point of this video? Anyone who doesn’t know much about headphones will enjoy the information about the history of headphones, but those lucky enough to have the money to afford something like the Focal, are I would assume, enthusiasts and already know a bit about the history. Although it was “Just for fun” it’s pointless comparing the 702 against the Focal, especially considering their price difference. Anyone looking to buy headphones who has £150-200 to spend, would not have those Focal headphones on their radar.

Love the York store. Bought so much gear from them over the years my Denon AVR 3500, my tri-amped multiroom Altec Lansing InAir 5000 speaker which sounds absolutely wicked & a Marantz stereo amplifier. Top quality service. Dylan is an absolute gentleman.

Does this mean its going to automatically get a 5 star review and product of the year in What Hi-Fi magazine? got to be honest I had a CXN v1 and compare to other streamers I've tried they didn't sound good at all, so I honestly don't know what those reviewing it were listening to. plus it looks like they've managed to make the same product with just a few extra features. The streaming market has moved on and this is still stuck from years ago.

I have a full compliment of speakers but also wish to use two additional front left and right speakers powered by an independant amp for a bigger sound stage.
