In a room by myself…looks like I’m here with a guy that I judge worse than anyone else. That might be my all-time fave Isbell lyric….the whole song is freaking insanely true
Love it!
This Guy is a genius composer. Truly gifted.
Great!
The greatest song ever written.
Wait... Those people aren't French!
Great
The joke
Always loved this one …
Without thinking
Yes
Talented.
On a lark On a whim I said there's two kinds of men in this world and you're neither of them And his fist Cut the smoke I had an eighth of a second to wonder if he got the joke And in the car Headed home She asked if I had considered the prospect of living alone With a steak Held to my eye I had to summon the confidence needed to hear her goodbye And another brief chapter without any answers blew by And the songs that she sang in the shower Are stuck in my head Like "Bring Out Your Dead" "Breakfast In Bed" And experience robs me of hope That she'll make it back home So I'm stuck on my own I'm stuck on my own In a room By myself Looks like I'm here with a guy that I judged worse than anyone else So I pace And I pray And I repeat the mantra's that might keep me clean for the day And the songs that she sang in the shower all ring in my ear Like "Wish You Were Here" How I wish you were here. And experience robs me of hope That you'll ever return So I breathe and I burn I breathe and I burn And the church bells are ringing for those who are easy to please And the frost on the ground probably envies the frost on the trees. And the songs she sang in the shower are stuck in my mind Like "Yesterday's Wine", like yesterday's wine And experience tells me that I'll never hear them again Without thinking of them Without thinking of them
Great picking"! Reminiscent of Jimmy River/Vance Terry from the 23 Club "Brisbane Bop" recordings!
I lost my dear sweet wife 3 and a half years ago. I would just love to talk for a little while, to compare "notes". So be it.
Over 5 years, clean and sober, and SO MANY of his songs resonate with me. Thanks Jason and keep cranking out the hits.
Gorgeous. The whole thing, lyrics, music, vibe, people. Absolutely loved this, this morning. So good.
My girlfriend of several years broke up with me on the day that my dad died and i sank into more addiction but this song was like a life preserver around my heart; i could numb out a lot of crap but i couldn't numb this song out and it pulled me back to the surface. ❤️🩹
Wow continued strength for you
Right on man. Music and NA got me through that situation after way too long active. Bright blessings. We do recovery! 🙏
Stay with us brother.
So sad he talked so bad about his #1 fans in Alabama and has went all political.
Your failure to understand grammar speaks redneck volumes - yeah, he’s political, so what.
You're not upset that he's political, you're upset because he disagrees with _your_ politics
Sheer brilliance
I love it. Cheers from Austria ❤
I love this song and really enjoyed this performance!!

The 400 Unit is smokin here!
This performance absolutely slays. Such a great song.
Brilliant
He was the next Dylan. Was…
Very Cool, Guys!!!
Wonderful!
How have i got to the old age of 50 and never heard of this man.....i do apologise
The good that eventually comes from the pain, which makes it worth it so much more. Man.
Sometimes I just need to come back here with him, to remind me of the deepest recess’s of hell addiction brings you too. He is an incredible phenomenal songwriter & I am immensely grateful for the man Jason Isbell is. Thank you x🕊️☘️
Just watched the HBO doc about Jason and Amanda. The segment of Jason at the private gig two days before he went into rehab is one of the most painful things I have ever watched. Makes songs like this all the more compelling. No secret that Jason suffers for his art; as do all of those around him. Fans included. Sometimes I wonder if Jason is like a car that lost a wheel and somebody put on the doughnut spare with two lug nuts instead of five and is now getting up to freeway speed...
You know.....when Willie departs to join the band with Waylon and Johnny....guys like this will carry the torch and remind us of the timeless beauty of a perfect country song. And we got Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle to carry us through. But maybe ....Willie gonna outlive us all. Barbarossa!
My my my this song just kills...
Hes right next to John Hiatt n Steve Earle. Written and sang straight from the heart n guts.
Love it ♥♥
This song keeps me alive, sounds lame But it does......
My brother Freddie was one of Clyde's best friends. Now God has them both in cradle of His Arms!🙏🏾
Yes Freddie Joe was his best friend❤
A perfectly written and executed song.
