When we tell someone they're in our thoughts and prayers, we are committing to bring their suffering, worries, or jubilation in front of God. The act of prayer is a gift, and a beautiful way to show love for your neighbors.This was composed in 1869 and I don't suppose anyone rememers it to day. We still remind people that they are in our prayers.

The folk songs of traditional music have evolved from the blending of different cultural traditions. Familiar songs sometimes spring from surprising origins. One of the most notable is the popular folk song “Red River Valley.” What appears to be a simple song of lament sung by cowboy singers around campfires is, in reality, the end of a musical mix that has its foundation in the melodies of traditional folk songs sung in the mists of a Gaelic past and whose lyrics were written in a personal expression of the cultural conflict occurring during the nineteenth-century settlement of the American continent by Europeans including the many Irish who were forced to leave home in search of a better life.

“NOREEN BAWN” In 1910, Creeslough native Neil McBride wrote “Noreen Bawn,” a song inspired by the death of the real-life Bridget Gallagher who died upon her return to Ireland from America at only 23 years of age. A rather woeful tale of young people who had to emigrate in order to survive, many often returned with scarlet fever and tuberculosis. Though it warned against the perils of immigration for the risk of disease at the time, Donegal historian, Seamus Harkin believes the song is as relevant today as it was in the beginning of the 20th century, as young Irish men and women continue to leave their homeland in search of better opportunities abroad.

I cannot listen to this song without crying I didn't really know what it meant that first but now I know it's about going home to be with Jesus and all your relatives all your family it will be very beautiful

What profound lyrics , sums up life in general for most people and how we would go through it all again to have the highs that life also brings? I thank God that that was Phil Coulter's life, too, for his music was a huge part of the enrichment in my life beginning in 1969 when I first discovered his extraordinary music.. With all his songs, he built a bridge to Ireland and I walked across that bridge. It has been the overwhelming joy of my life. It’s so sweet when a person can acknowledge God in all his/her ups and downs, hardships and happiness through life . .And looking back on all the years The loves, the sweetness, and the sorrow Have made me what I am today And I'd do it all again tomorrow It's been a good life Far from the high life And I thank God that this was my life.

Here, the poet, Thomas Moore says that most of the time in quiet nights, before he sleeps and goes through to unconsciousness, the fond memories of his childhood brings the smile on his face again. He experiences those moments around him. In his boyhood days, he has gone through different situations, some led him to tears while others made him smile with a shine in his eyes. It was the time when his friends were around him and he was being loved and cared for by everyone. That was a precious time for him. But now when no one is there with him, he feels like the shine which used to be there in his face due to his smile has turned to be dimmed and pale. The cheerful hearts which once used to be in his boyhood days are broken now. Now he's feeling abandoned and lonely. Now in the stilly nights, before the he sleeps, he gets bounded with those days and memories which makes him feel gloomy and depressed.Whenever he remembers his friends who were so linked with him once, now he's seeing them fall around him like it happens in winter. the tree sheds its leaves. He feels very deserted and lonely like the one who walks alone without any companions. He imagines a scene of a banquet hall after everyone has left except him. when the lights have faded , those garlands have lost their glory.. this is how the poet is comparing his life to this scene.
