Creativity is NOT a competition.
Thank you for the awesome directions! They were so easy to follow. I've made some of the wallets. I didn't use the magnetic clasp. I used the snap buttons. 😊
Thank you, you made it look so easy and I will be trying this. Thanks again❤❤
In 2001 the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC presented an exhibit on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. As evidence of her deep knowledge of couture, it mentioned she always wanted French seams. I have been trying ever since to find out what that meant. Thank you so much for solving this decades-old mystery for me, and explaining it so well!
You explained it beautifully, thank you.
Hi, Nikki! I have many pieces of clothing that are plenty useful still, i.e. p.j.'s and slacks, with dead elastic or I've lost wt and they won't stay put on my hips. Do you have a video about replacing elastic; I looked but didn't find one on your cache. This would be so very welcomed. THANK YOU! : )
Thank you, this is so useful ❤
New to your channel. What size needle are you using for this project? Thank you for the video. Great job. 😊
I really like your tutorial Nikki I'm in SA I need to make your purses ❤❤❤
I know I was not dreaming last night when a video of you came on and showed you doing a back pack tutorial. You used black , red, and white fabric with stethoscopes on it. Now I can't find it anywhere , even when I type it in. I really want to make it, did you take it down?
You're a great teacher! TY!..............
Wow, thank you! So happy you enjoyed this. Hope it helped learn the machine!
I never found or heard the measurements except for the handle. Please add for us. thank you
This fabric is cut to an 8 x 10 however you can make the bag as big, or as small as you would like. Keep in mind you will have seams of 1/4" on each side. I have learned a 5x7 bag (fabric cut to 6x9) is also a popular size.
Awesome job!
Thank you! It keeps my car junk all in one place! I should call it my receipt bag! : )
Love your video except I can barely hear you.
Sorry about that! I am not sure what happened with the audio there but it seems to be only this particular video. I can't change it at this point, unfortunately. Sorry!!
This is so great. Thank you for making a point to explain how the fabric should be oriented and placed. You are a great teacher.
can you make the bone pillows out of a fat quarter? Thanks!
The best I've ever seen. The info was clear and well poised.
Thank you so much! If you want to leave an opening near the magnetic strip, go ahead and do so. Some people have found that easier - I just prefer not to see the closing in the front, mid section of the flap. I hope the video helps you!
Loved your tips! Are the water bottle holders insulated?
For over crossover bag
That would be nice. Almost like a clutch.... adding a strap under the flap on the sides. That's good thinking!
Hope you had given measurements.
There is a link on the video that tells you where to get the measurements. Here it is... www.sewnbynikki.info/2021/04/fabric-billfold-wallet.html
Have made a few.wallets but this one is much easier to make. Love your instructions w/o any ba ground music
How do you deal with having a bathroom break if you are alone in your booth.
Hello! Honestly, make a connection with your neighbor as soon as you are setting up. That will help. I tend to limit the beverages I drink throughout my time at a market or event. I go before setting up and right after breaking down and loading my vehicle, usually. On the rare occasion when I do need to go, I ask my neighbor to watch my booth for me. If you attend the same market on a regular basis, it will be a natural thing you do for each other. It's a bit harder if it is a one time event - though doable. Vendors are usually helpful to each other..... just say hello when you arrive and make small talk. If you arrive first, acknowledge them and if you see them struggling with something, offer to help. It will go a long way to them helping with your customers! (Also, I have a till for cash but prefer to wear a fanny pack for my phone and funds or a vendor apron so it is easier for me to walk away - with my money and valuables).
Excellent seamstress. Explains everything. 👍🏼
Hi Nikki thanks was doing them with chrochet, now gonna doing for them with fabrics ur style is very easy thanks lot❤
I'm having a issue with my 😢thread breaking over and over. Can you help 😮
Have you checked inside of your bobbin case to see if you have a lot of lint fiber built up? Clean inside, and under the case. I would also suggest using 100% cotton thread as well and be sure your tension is not pulling the thread too tight. You should consider loosening it, try 3.0. Hope those suggestions help!
I made 5 of them. In one I miss my scrap material and the stuffing and it works out great. U don't know the scrap material in it and help with all that stuffing in it. Bring the shape a little more support to it. I will be making more every soon. Easy to make thank u so much.
Great tips
❤❤❤
Thank you!!
Oh what a teacher! 🍎 📚 🧮 I enjoyed every minute of this! Thank you!
You are so welcome! If it is easier for you, close your wallet up at the top, instead of the side. The trick is really to iron it first! : )
How about if I want to reinforce the strap to be sewed in the entire lenght of the fabric from the bottom and the edge of welt would meet on the top of the bottle, and then add extra fabric to make drawstring. If I am carrying those heavy duty above 1 litter. We don't the want the seam breaks due to the weight and the bottle falls on my feet.
You did a great job! You have beautiful hands and well manicured nails. Reminds me of my grandmother. She always wore red nail polish.
Oh wow! Well now, that made me smile! That is a special compliment. I appreciate that! I am hard on my nails but attempt to sew, cut fabrics and push through snaps with them! : )
This wallet is awesome! You explain and walk thru all steps thoroughly and I really enjoy your work! Thank you!
You are so welcome! Hope it helps. You will be able to make it quicker after your first attempt. 20 minute project, max! You got this! (You can even add a strap inside, before closing it up- if you want). Have fun with making this.
How do you figure what to charge for your products?
It really depends on your area, where you live or are selling. Selling in person is different from online but the rule of thumb is 3x your cost. I teach this in my retreats. Maybe one day I will put together a video on that.......
Hey Nikki, I liked your video! I am going to make this for my husband…he has lots of neck issues!
Please do! I mean, make one for yourself as well if you have lazy legs or back issues. They are great! Not to mention wonderful for road tripping and leaning against windows in cars! : )
Thank you so much for this video! You are wonderful at explaining everything!!
Glad it was helpful! Feel free to DM me if you have further questions. I have been using Brothers for years and though I did not give you ALL of the explanations for each "foot," I gave you enough info to get you started! The trick is just to start, mess up and continue again.....! : ) Have fun!
Thanks for the tutorial ! Mother’s Day this weekend and birthdays too so I will be making several for my GFs …they are tea lovers . They pack their own tea bags when they go visit friends and family … I wasn’t aware until she pulled out her ziplock of tea bags in her purse! This bag is prettier than a ziplock bag , right ? 😊
Wonderful!!! I was laughing when I read this! This will be much better, yes! Her ziplock bag served the purpose - until you saw it! : ) Well, let her know it can also double as a store loyalty card holder!
Is there a reason why the snap buttons aren't used! Pleased to find a wallet without a zipper! Haven't learned yet, sewing for a week. Thank you for this video
No reason. Everyone has different tastes. I prefer these, instead of a zipper. I am notorious for shoving receipts and bills into my wallet and they always get caught in the zipper and end up ripped. : )
Love this project. Can’t wait to make some.
They are quick and easy to make! Perfect for a book lover! Or to cover a bible or journal. Have fun making them!
Thank you!
I made one today thank you so much. I will be making 5 more for gifts. Can you put scrap material in them too. ?
I am not sure about putting scrap material in them. I do wash mine and the hypoallergenic polyfil does great after a washing. I have never attempted to put scrap material. If you use it and it works well, let me know. I love learning new things! You could teach me something!
Thank you for being so detailed!
I have saw other videos, however, I like this one better😊
Thank you so much for that! I try!!!!
Scrabble queen. Love your word wall
HUGE Scrabble competition in this household!!!!! We love Scrabble! : )
I am excited for this project. But I wanna cry, I can't find your FB group. I always come to your youtube first to see if you have projects I am trying to do. Thank you for helping me learn to sew!!
Thank you!!! What are you interested in sewing? DM me if you have an idea. I have been holding retreats lately and sewing groups so I haven't had much time to put out new videos. I will try!!!
@@SewnByNikki any new bags tutorials. I am making Ribbon Skirts and want to make bags to go with them, I have tried other tutorials...I prefer yours though because you are more clear in your instructions. Today I sewed a bag together all sorts of wonky because the video instructor was not clear enough; there was more music and highspeed sewing than actual verbal instructions 😂🤦🏽♀️
I getting ready to do my first craft show, this information was so helpful. Thank You for sharing!
How did your market go? Did you watch my video on selling at markets, by chance? I hope it was helpful. You will learn a lot after your first market..... and you will probably change your setup and bring less stuff. It is a learning curve. DM me if you have questions.
@@SewnByNikki Thanks for the information it went very well, I did great!
I try that easy thank u so much
👍
Love the remnants...,,,especially the Christmas throw material. Never seen anything so organised over here (London), good for you.....😊😊😊😊😊
Love this video and all the detailed instruction. Thank you - I plan to make one soon. Also love your joyful attitude!
Thanks so much! 😊 I hope the details were able to help you understand. I try to do that in all of my videos and be perky at the same time. : ) Thanks for watching!
As a teenager I was dedicated to the Coach brand. I was always told by Coach employees that if the bag tears, straps break, zippers break, that that it was covered. Becaues every bag bought in a Coach store was covered by a lifetime guarantee and we could send it in to have it repaired. THE LIED! THEY KNEW ALL THEIR CHEAP CRAP FAKE LEATHER WAS GOING TO RIP AND BREAK. I am a lot wiser now. And I am looking into helping a company that is recycling plastic bags, chip bags, plastic soday tops, and soda tabs into making purses, coin bags, walletsand much more. Saving the planet from having more trash has always been my main goal.
Same! I took both of them back to the Coach store and got the big run around, although I still had receipts and authentication cards. It's fast production. :(
