    Hi, and thanks for this excellent work showing my favourite liner. Actually second only to our 'Batory', that only transatlantic liner ever to carry aboard one Syrian brown bear! The bear was a regular soldier of one of Polish 2nd Corps' troops, with the rank of corporal and the name of Wojtek. Which is my name too. Long live to Her Majesty for her 90th birthday (26th of Sep. 1934-2024) ♍🇵🇱🇬🇧🇺🇲👍 Just to add something of interest - I am the man who 'introduced' Her Majesty to Polish people in 1986. ♍

    Incredible to hear the survivor’s stories. But think about the dudes working in the engine room. Lots of them were probably already gone; and had been for hours by the time the ship actually sank.

    It still baffles me why they totally dismantled Olympic. The worst death of the sisters. They should have kept her and made her into a museum. She was the only closet link to Titanic. Would have been a marvel to walk inside of Olympic.

    Thomas Andrews was NOT the designer of the Olympic/Titanic. He took over responsibility after the original designer retired early rather than attach his name to the project. Too many changes compromised his design, lowering the quality and seaworthiness.

    To us in Poland the Queen is partially known through my several articles written on her from 1986. Poland is home country and Gdynia - home port to our liners, that made our white and red flag recognizable to the rest of the World, and simply loved by many people. The Queen Mary made 1001 Atlantic crossings and alone shortened the war by six months. Our Batory DID carry once a big Syrian brown bear on board - a mascot and a soldier (!) of one Polish troop during WW2. He had military rank of corporal and was called Wojtek (our abbreviation of the name of Adalbert). Now I am Wojciech myself, bearing the bear's full name proudly, liking all bears and well up in the maritime history of Poland, which shall be 105 years long in 2025. All the best to 'Mary', to Long Beach, to Southampton and to Clydebank (important places of the Queen her life), and birthday greetings for her 90 years afloat (26.05.1934-2024) ♍🇵🇱🇬🇧🇺🇲❤️

    Sinking the Lusitania was NOT a 'war crime', as the narrator stated at the beginning. She was a valid target of warfare as she was carrying munitions. Potential passengers were warned of this fact by the German Ambassador before sailing.

    In the video they believe that the torpedo struck the starboard side just forward of the bridge and that the cargo of munitions is what caused the second explosion however the torpedo struck the Lusitania just behind the bridge in the forward boiler room which is where the second explosion occurred it was finally settled by Dr. Robert Ballard once and for all time that the mixture of coal dust and oxygen set off by the torpedo is what sank the Lusitania. Mystery solved!!!!

    Another thing I heard about Ballard's expedition is that one of his submersibles brought part of a cable to his research ship. Ballard thought it was undoubtedly from the Titanic so in order to avoid any gold rush on his ship he threw it back into the ocean

    @fmyoung Před 15 dny

    1:51 Not everyone knows that "when she left Southampton" she almost collided with another ship. She was doing 6kn but the undertow from that was already enough to cause this other ship nearby to break all her mooring, six of them. Now, what was the Titanic's final destination? New York. What was the name of the ship she almost collided with? Of all names - New York....

  • @alexanderkostan2488

    “Practically unsinkable” 😂 🤣 yeah OK arrogance what got Titanic sunk in the first place, there were a bunch of flaws, the fact that was made with riveted sheet metal plates, 16 life bolts with four additional collapsible that were upside down, 20 total boats, three boy propeller configuration, made it difficult to stop and turn, that’s another big reason why Titanic crashed into the iceberg and sank. White Star Line were certainly arrogant. To throw out the term “practically unsinkable” you are basically tempting the gods, Titanic got what it deserved because the owner of White Star Line was the biggest coward of the face the planet and he got off the ship while the captain decided to stay out of the ship and die with the rest of the passengers that didn’t make it onto a lifeboat.. sad but messed up story..
