I think it's now safe to say with all the new technology and the new dives on the Fitzgerald and another wreck that's at the bottom of the lake proves that the Fitzgerald broke up on top the water and sank right where it did. The sister waves would have put her wheelhouse under water and it sank rapidly. None of them knew what hit them. No way the Fitzgerald hit bottom because the experts say the ship would have sank right there or it would have never even got close to White Fish Bay. These are the FACTS. No way they hit bottom anywhere. They never said they had a list on either side. He reported a list but not on which side. It broke up and sank. The cook even sad the Fitzgerald was in terrible condition. The storm ripped her in half and she sank.

Saw this documentary when it first came out, and was then lucky enough to sail on the QE2 in December of 1980. I went with my Travel and Tourism class (30 of us!) on an 11 day cruise out of New York. We had behind the scenes tours of all parts of the ship, so met the captain, head chef and many other people in this film. I've wanted to see this again, especially as I am soon to embark on my first transatlantic crossing. Thank you for posting this!

Shame that nobody spoke of raising the Titanic until decades after the Olympic was scrapped (in the 30s). They coulda just preserved the Olympic, which was (almost) identical. Similarly there was little interest in preserving steam locos until a decade after their extinction, fortunately Barry scrapyard still had 300 which were mostly rescued when enthusiast interest peaked.

I Remember going to see this in the Theatre in 1980 I was just a 14 year old kid then but thought this to be so Awesome . The movie was a bit of a Box Office y flop but I have been intrigued by The TItanic for Decades !! Loved the James Cameron Film . I’m from Canada and It was HUGE here for months on End in 1998!! Massive Crowds and Lineup’s . You had to buy Tickets in Advance it was so Popular just to be assured a Seat at a Specific Fay and Time when the Film was Being Screened !!

@titanicfilmsbymark do you remember an old 1990s documentary called "To The Ends Of The Earth: The Battle For Titanic"? It was on Channel 4 here in the UK around 1998-99ish, about the "battle" over rights to the wreck site. Ive been looking for it for years but never been able to find it!!
