First rule of thumb when working with electric. Remove all rings necklaces and any other jewelery.
I had one question, how to you use the release to get the power wires out. You wouldn't show it. Wasted my time, i'll go elsewhere.
Why did you choose to word your comment like that max?
One problem with using a reading lamp to check for electrical current is the light bulb maybe burnt out 😮
This was great thank you
Thank you so much king 🤴 for your help and time.. Very useful 👌 👍 👏 😀....
Thank you for this video!! I’ve changed outlets before but not like this one - you made it so easy! 👍🏻
I just now replaced one just like that..just pull on the wires , they come out easy. Mine was about 30 years old .
5:35 ain't you supposed to do ground first?🤔
THANKS SHAUN
thanks to you i was able to replace my old and loose outlet, and i didn't burn down the house!!!!!!!
thanks!!!!!!
My old outlet has some electrical tape wrapped around the wire connector / screws. Is it necessary or overkill?
My dad said use a hair dryer bc I can hear it when I am checking which breaker it is.
Thanks! 👍
Great video
Nice - good job you made easy to follow. For future advise if you encounter no ground and how to install one.
Can I just turn them all off?
Thankyou
What up with those whacky mirror placements?
This was exactly my case most other videos I found it was to screw the wires on the side. Very helpful
I did..replaced one like he had in vid but just used the screw way.
I’m pretty sure the white wires go to the gold screws and the black goes to silver
Thanks for this! I have a question. I have a small window unit thats in my bedroom and the outlet that it was connected too busted. Should I get a bigger outlet amp or the standard one?
becarefull gentleman there such thing as 240 in Residential so take all information you get from with a gain of salt
Call a professional don't do anything this guy says to do
man i wish i listen to u because i did took the trip to the hospital before i can even see this video
Does it matter what black or white wire goes where. Would any white wire go on top or bottom?
Hello l have only one black wire and only one white wire and a silver ground wire.....how to use these wires?
Yes. I only have one black wire and only one white wire. How to use this
What about those boxes that have the 2 white, 2 black, 1 red, 1 ground. How do to properly attach this one as I feel this is a main power line to do the front room and family room.
when do you activate your dollar sign thank you button?
Nicely done. I turned off the Home Depot instructional with background music.
What if there is no ground wire?
Instead of 2 black wires, I have one black and one red. I only have 1 white wire. ????????
We can just shut off the main power, as well, right, cuz I’m on my own and not wanting to play the what switch goes where game…already aggravated I must do this at all, but I’ve waited too long for the other person living here to handle it. Thanks for the step by step. Now to find all the necessary “utensils” 😣 🙄
What are the white wires exactly? Like are they the positive or negative wire? I'm lost and need some help.
I’ve always been told it’s best to attach your ground first in case the lines are hot without your knowledge and you touch them, your body will not be the complete path of current to earth. In that case, ground wire already earthed will absorb most of the current.
what could have happened to my bedroom outlets 2 went out, no breakers were tripped, and nothing has changed in over a decade, meaning no tampering with the wiring. can the actual outlet go bad? and I dont know what circuit breaker to turn off since there is no power to them and the previous homeowner never labeled them on the Circuit panel, I guess I can turn off the entire power to the house and replace it that way
Are electrical wires supposed to be VERY stiff? I changed my first receptacle in my 30 year old house and it was very hard to push it back in and screw the outlet in.
Put the ground first as it is the most important.
How can you not subscribe to this guy 😂 this video was awesome, thank you
Excellent. Thank you.
I have no ground wire??
Thanks a million! I actually was able to get the wire release buttons to get the wires out, and I put the wires in the holes of the new outlet because I didn't want to mess with bending them. It worked!
What if I want to add another outlet a few feet away and use that outlet to do so...?? There's already two black and two white wires
How can I tell which wire is white and which one is black since it is not labeled as such?
What if I have 6 wires?
You are a good teacher!!! Thanks for instructing me--I need all the help I can get! Great video!
I might still VOM the outlet even if the light doesn't power up..
Great vid!!!
Thank you so much! I have seen where they say to do "pigtails" but with old thick wire this is not an option. I did manage to get the pigtails done (three thick wires together very hard to connect) and now I can't get all the wires back in the box. Ugh. One question: Can I not use the provided holes to just "backstab" the outlet? Some say not to but the guy who did some of my remodel said it was ok.
Thank you so much!!
