Somewhere around the age of 12 my mom, brother, and I relocated to a different area of New Orleans, LA. Not long afterwards I met our new neighbors Andy and Jerry Marshall. Mr. Jerry was a 60 year old retired police officer and Opera singer. Naturally, Mr. Jerry became my best friend and mentor. One of many things he introduced me to included the world of fishing. We started out in a two man canoe fishing in the marsh ponds of Irish Bayou. As I grew older I started to develop a passion for bass fishing. I had early teenage dreams of becoming a Bass Pro. In 2017 Mr. Jerry lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease but he never lost the memories of those he loved. I am forever gratefully for all that he and Mrs. Andy has done for me.
After four years in the US Air Force and four years at LSU School of Engineering, I know reside in Greenville Texas where I get to enjoy bass fishing on Lake Fork and surrounding lakes. Occasionally I find time to share that passion here.

Day 3 we had some really strong south winds projected so we decided to fish the river instead of the main lake. This was probably one of the most fishy places I have ever fished and I'm from South Louisiana aka Sportsman Paradise. We caught 10 fish on the day and also lost a few bigger fish in the sticks. Anything less than braided line in this area is a mistake! CHAPTERS 00:00 10:30 Fish Catch...

With crazy weather patterns in North Texas I decided to take a trip down to South Texas and fish Choke Canyon Reservoir. Temperatures in the 90s were sure to move some fish up to spawn. Started the day by visiting an area that I located on Google Maps to have huge shallow grass flats. After seeing the water conditions in person I decided to head northeast and fish some smaller flats. This turne...
Lake Fork - The Ones That Got Away

Looking through my phone I found a few old videos of some big fish bites that never actually made it in the boat..
This one is for MDJ

Shout-out to Mark Daniels Jr. for finding this spot in only 2 practice days. It's occupied 7 days a week with bass boats these days but the fish are still there if you can get them to bite.

We caught about 25 on the day but only 10 were big enough to keep.
Automatic Jack Plate (Finding Optimal Height Test)

This video includes two of our first five test of the optimal height system. In this test the jackplate rises unassisted until it detects a decrease in water pressure. At which point it lowers itself just enough to keep water pressure at its maximum.
Fishing East Texas with Troy Rickman

One of my Louisiana buddies (Troy Rickman) came up for a weekend of fishing on some East Texas lakes. We started out with a trip to Lake Monticello (Now Closed) followed by two days on Lake Fork. Big fish went 8.2 lbs.

Not when I can see them!
What model is that aut. Jack plate?
How much speed is added by jackplate
5 units of speed
No audio, not sure what I’m seeing
Should slow down more gradually next time and it won’t swamp
I was getting dizzy 😵
How much of the cavitation plate was out of the water when on plane? I’m haveing a tough time finding a good position
Beautiful system 👌
Si sube corre mas. If the jack plate up so run more fast???
Oh man, catching some big bass in Bayou Black and listening to some Warren G and Nate Dog. I love it! All I ever catch are babies around there
How?
This video just came up on my feed and glad I clicked on it! I miss the spillway, can't wait to get back out there and fish tournaments etc.!
Good job! Thx.
You did a great job I have a 2000 Ranger. And I want to do the same thing but I am terrified but I might mess up something. Were you able to use your well or did you cut a hole in that also?
I had to cut through the well also. It's still usable. I store my soft plastics in it and they are in plastic container in case the compartment takes on water.
where is this at in des allemands
Taj, This particular jack plate rises and falls on it's own with no assistance from a pump? I guess it is designed that way? In the other video you were touching a lever that resembled a turn signal. What did that do?
Taj Chauvin 3 days ago The jack plate rises and falls without assistance from the driver. It uses the hydraulic actuator inside of the jack plate to move this course. In its simplicity we control when the motor turns on and off. The lever you see me touching on the other video is the motors trim. This levels the boat by moving the motor inward and outward from the boat. The jack plate controls up and down movements of the motor.
Taj Chauvin that’s amazing who makes this...
@@samboles8796 This was a prototype. It is not on the market.
Very interested in how you did this?
No weight???!!?
Come to Texas and get you some!
Taj Chauvin bro...that still doesnt explain what she weighed lol and no im still mad you left me and home lmao
@@voodoobassin Check your messages. I gave you the weight. But let me go and check my records. haha
Taj Chauvin dont see anything lol
@@voodoobassin She was 8.2 and I just noticed its in the video description. Yea I'm calling you out for lack of vision.
6/2018 Update: I pulled the tray out to inspect the condition of the hole two years later and also to re position the drain hose. I found that the hole looked as I left it two years ago and showed no signs of damage. However, I did decide to coat the foam with fiberglass resin so that it is protected for years to come. Originally I ran the drain hose to the front of the boats PVC drain in the front compartment. This caused a small bottleneck and the tray would not drain fast in heavy rain. To fix this issue I located a point further down the PVC drain closer to the foot tray and drilled a 1 inch hole to accommodate the drain tube. I then cut the drain tube at an angle and slid it into the hole. The tray now drains at a fast rate with no issues.
Lake Fork GIANTS. NICE BRO !
Thank you for documenting this and nice job!
Looks like you could possibly be on the North (St John) of the lake.. Seems to always have grass on that end once you pass Night Bay
