the second channels are 15 through 22 if you where on F R S channels 15 through 22 then you where hearing are off repeater channels not the police.

Correction there are some police departments that are using 400 mhz frequencies along with Fire Departments also some sheriff departments. There are also some that operate in the lower frs/ gmrs frequencies during emergencies. So it is possible that you are picking up some kind of communication from a police or fire department. If you are then You cannot operate or use those channels unless its in a life threatening situation as in a Tornado Hurricane or something like that. Otherwise you can go to prison if caught. Before anyone starts doubting me or anything like that I can tell you from experience. Since my Wife is a Dispatcher with an Emergency Call Center and I am a Firefighter. One of my older brothers works or work for a major big city police department in communications where they work on the radio and computer systems for communications in Texas . That city uses 460 mhz radios and I know that some of the top people in that department will take frs radios down to have them change the frequency to the department frequencies. Also the Fire Departments that I work for and with we actually use cb radios frs/gmrs and other radio frequencies to be able to communicate with the public for emergency situations like wildfires

Yeah that is one thing that I don't like it is hard on the eyes and when you are visually impaired like me it even worse however I do like the voice prompts .

I got the MU5 version. It is identical to the GM30, it just uses MURS instead of GMRS. The MU5 is probably my favorite walkie talkie in my collection. It is rare to find a MURS radio with a full keypad. There are only a couple I know of that have full keypads. Not sure about the GM30, but the programming software for the MU5 allows you to always keep the backlight on, and so does the menu on the radio. It should say 'bright', which is the setting to always keep the backlight on. The light behind the buttons will go off, but the backlight will stay on, and when you do anything the button light will come on again. They're literally the same radios with different software, so I would be shocked if there was not the same option to leave the backlight on for the GM30.

There's only 30 GMRS repeaters in the entire state of Washington which is why I can't find one locally which is why I've never heard anything on my GM-30. I also have a Baofeng UV-17M and it's backlight is the same way. Although I see that during a scan if it hears anything from interference to someone actually talking it'll pause for a few seconds then resume scanning. It stops so often that the backlight stays on so that choice I can live with. Still it shouldn't be that difficult just to keep the backlight on otherwise you can see nothing on the UV-17M's screen. The backlight on my UV-5R goes out and at least you can still read the screen!! But I just ordered a new radio (a TYT UV-8000E) and paid a bit more than these Baofengs but I couldn't find anything regarding a backlight that stays on if that's what you want. @@chuxtuff Do you have powerlines near your house? If so, that is part of the problem. Powerlines interfere with radio waves. I have powerlines that run right over my house, and i cannot get anything on any radio unless I go down the street. I cannot even get over the air channels on my TV. The powerlines totally destroy any reception at my house.

take away all the stupped stuff you have 22 channels forn family service KNOw on my side you have 8 channels that are repeter channels thay require a license to use and the radio need's to be programmed to a tower to do so I AM W R X N 824

only on G M R S you transmit to a tower and bounce off to your friend several miles away I have three hand held's that will do that and also my base radio does 45 watt out put and yes you need a license to do thatffx

thay will work at 10 miles after you set your radio to a re peter then GET YOUR LICENSE as you are on G M R S and you do need a LICENSE

you do not there short range radios to get 10 miles yu need aLICENSE get the radio to talk to a G M R S tower then you have 10 miles

I don't think you use score sheets in Uno however there are so many variations of that game if there is one that does require the use of sources then yes this would also work all you're really doing is just laminating them and using dry-erase pens . You can re use the score sheets .

once you find a radio guy he will set the in put code too the tower THEN GET YOUR LICENSE then but a good base radio and have fun.

It's actually 22 FRS channels, with the extra channels spread around FRS with preset talk codes baked in.

Well I would think that you take the aux cord, put one side into the cassette tape player, the other side into your phone or computer, put it in Spotify or CZcams or whatever music platform you want to put it in, put the blank cassette tape in the cassette tape player, press record, and play the song or playlist you wanna play! Hope that helped.
