This is kinda typical of Oahu sadly. I try to limit myself when shooting good eating fish and heavily target invasive fish

I do think it’s the amount of people fishing/diving rather than sharing an already well known spot that affects the fish to be honest, although I don’t show my best spots either so I get you haha

Do you see a ton more yellow tang with the export ban on Marine fish from Hawaii?
It definitely seems to help. I’ve talked to the people at the Oceanic Institute of Hawai'i Pacific University who were able to breed the yellow tang in captivity, and from what they say the ban has made a real difference

Shoot a few roi and did use one as chum earlier, but wanted to weigh the big one. I’m glad the videos helped you! Still learning myself but glad I can pass on the knowledge I have

Appreciate it! I agree with not diving for trophies, even though it’s fun to shoot nice fish that’s not why I go spearfishing personally. I would love to dive with you some time, but I’m leaving the island for the summer pretty soon so not going to be able to dive a lot before that sadly😅

Awesome that my video reached the Philippines!
Couple of tips, don't show landmarks or coastlines. It exposes your spot to other people and eventually leads to overfishing. Also, that island you took a break on is illegal to land there. Both islands are prohibited from landing there. DLNR could use this video as probable cause to fine you. So be careful about what you post.
Thanks for the input! Sharing your spots has always been taboo amongst fishermen and I kinda accepted that when I posted. Didn’t realize that about the islands until after, so if I get a fine for being negligent and sitting on a rock for a minute I guess I’ll have to own up to it. I will definitely keep my distance in the future.
@@SimenIvanDahl I would suggest taking down this video and editing out the part of you on the island. It would remove the evidence. Then re-upload it without that part. As long as no one has reported you to DLNR, you should be in the clear.
