Sounds like the rods are getting loose. Drop the pan and remove a couple of the caps. I owned a 626 50 years ago. Babbit rods, shims were removed. Nobody did babbit work to re do the rods so I got rid of it.
Beautiful machine, I’d take that over a Duesenburg any day. Hell, you could take that thing on a long trip with no problems providing it was tuned, good weather of course. Very nice.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video my family owns an original 1960 Studebaker lark V8 with 3 speed manual on the steering column 4 Dr blk with red vinyl interior I drive it to work as I'm a visiting nurse in the community thanks for sharing this presentation
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video my family owns an original 1929 ford model A 4 door and at 51 I'm the youngest member of my family to own this important rare beauty
A lasting example of fine American engineering at it's best! I always thought one of the reasons they are no longer in business is because they were built to good. I know they were expensive but even back then you got what you paid for. Very nice! Thanks
@@williamphillips6049 yeah I actually live about 45 miles from the factory. I've been by it a few times in my life. It's mostly gone if not completely demolished now. There has been a big push in the last couple of years to get the site cleaned up. Even in it's terrible state you could see that it once was an incredible place in its day
I owned and drove a 626 back in the 1970's. It had the original paint and two fender mount tires. No covers just like yours. The one shot lubricator worked, and the reel out cigarette lighter got red hot. I have to say it had very good brakes which were mechanical, not hydraulic. The interior fabric and color was exactly the same as yours. Bought it for $3000.00 owned it a couple years and got rid of it after checking the cost of new tires. There was only one or two sources, both a rip off. I still have the original hubcap/crank hole removal tool after all these years. Now check this czcams.com/video/ViNoQd4OaIo/video.html Go to 0:20 theres likely a 30 or 31 Packard coming up there on the right, and then look back down the street at about 0:29 and there coming up is a 6th series just like mine, and yours too in situ coming up the road.... At 0:51 its a great view. Enjoy.
Beautifully restored to a high standard 626 with the original engine and the fabric is correct which is more remarkable. I'm happy you kept the 6 volt system. Take care of this gem for the future. Very few of these left in any condition much less like this one - Enjoy it !

-Hello, and what will you do if something breaks in this car where to get spare parts?
Uniformly superb cars were made by Packard from the earliest years at least up to 1938. 👌💯
old cars are art

First car I ever rode in was a Packard. Iremember it now over sixty years later. No complaints.
Gorgeous.
Паккард, это вещь. Столетняя вещь, выдержанная.
Timeless elegance. What a beautiful Lady...................

They built good but too little series to benefit and improve design enough every year in 50s when individual bodies remained in the past 😢
You ought to take a look at the documentary TV series; Abandoned or Mysterious Places". One of the episodes details the abandoned Packard car factory.

Very smooth running classic. We're these vehicles only sold in black? Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more videos. 😊
