Als je Nederlands spreekt, wordt het zeer gewaardeerd. Nederlands is een prachtige rijke taal die aandacht en waardering verdient.
Thanks for posting this. It reminds me of the reasons we loved living in the Netherlands ... no idea why we returned to UK! Top of my list is the cycling, it is literally like living on another planet.
Many thanks for producing the video, they are really good tips and I'll be acting on them straight away. You explain everything so clearly and your English is nicely articulate. Thanks again.
Many thanks for posting the video, it was really helpful and the links are fantastic. You explain everything so clearly. I lived in the Netherlands in the early 1990s and remember having to have house insurance and also third party insurance so if for example you damaged something at your neighbours the insurance would cover it. Do you still need those insurances and if so how much are they for a typical person living in a typical apartment? Given I can hardly speak any Dutch and not a word of Portuguese I should not comment but in case it helps an A++++ house is well "insulated".
Many thanks for posting this, it was really helpful and the clauses sound a good idea. I did have a question, you mentioned a Property valuation and a Technical valuation, what is the Property valuation, is that something a purchasing real estate agent would do? I think the Technical valuation is done by a surveyor who looks at the condition of the property? Thanks again for explaining the process so clearly.
Sounds like the netherlands is really poor in comparison with Portugal - dutch healthcare isn't as great as some people claim from my own experience. (at least in terms of the quantity of checks they provided / advice on supplementation which is critical for the development of the child)
Interesting video! I wonder if things have changed in costs with the recent inflation? :)
I love all the videos I watched from you until now

As a Dutch person, I'm working in a team where half of the team is based in Portugal. In this team I feel like a rogue sometimes.
Amazing content! Thank you so much for the video. It's helping me a lot!
Can you recommend where can I find valuation official.. m in that step of the process now
Cost of owning a small or middle car?Incurance taxes etc
The biggest problem with language is you have problems to read the signs on the road etcetera. And also a lot of announcements are only in Dutch.
You still live in the Netherlands when you live in a place in the very south or the very north of the country. Or find something in the very east.
Ola mafalda, quando tiras o bsn ,vais pagar algum imposto por so ter o bsn ? Obrigado
yes doktors here are funny, some are just totally missing the mark but most are good, doctor i'm depressed i think i go hang myself on a tree. Doctor: "try asperine before and after cal me again after 2 weeks"🗿
Wise words
I'm from the Netherlands and I have spent a month alone in Croatia. That was eneough time to be able to relate to this. You indeed learn a lot about yourself and are constantly challenged to go out of your comfortzone. Doing everything alone. I made some friends however. It was not only for vacation but also to see if i want to move to Croatia. Now I have friends there I definatly want to go back
Great video! I don't know how to bike, but I know how to swim 🙂😁😀🤣maybe I should swim to travel around The Netherlands haha
I'm about to enter my 20`s and this video was definitely insightful. You've inspired me to start creating the life I want now and reminded me that just because things don't work out right away doesn't mean they won't later :)
Thank you for your comment, I'm happy that the video added some value to you. I wish you all the best and I hope you enjoy these amazing years
Thanks for sharing!

No comments yet? Allright start you off. A very late, but no less genuine HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎉🎉😅😊
If you relocate to another country, inform yourself. If you have a contact already ask for particulier things like doctors and other issues. The open windows are more of the past, nowadays people have blinds or thin curtains that let light in but not inquisitive peoples stares. I came to the Netherlands from another country, too. If you want to stay you'll have to adjust.
Thanks for compiling the information into a single video. You are a gem 💎
This video might was good 20 years ago now Netherlands its more like hamas land
Ugh, this is so depressing. Why are expats so lazy nowadays, being content to speak Globish (simplified, non-native quasi-English used as a lingua franca) rather than learning the actual language of the country? That is the ONLY way to truly integrate. Dutch people‘s English is usually fine, but most of the time not great, and it‘s definitely not native. The Dutch are also part of the problem here- they need to encourage immigrants to learn their language more rather than eagerly responding in Globish whenever they hear a foreign accent.
English is the world language. Dutch is not worth learning.
I wonder what the difference is between Germany and the Netherlands.....
It would be interesting to know and I would not be surprised if they differ significantly
@@mafaldaboers significantly you say?! I'm on a new mission to find out 🤔🧐
In NL they will help if you're dying but for all the rest you're better of with Google.
In my experience, in regards to pregnancy, I really didn't feel this. I was very impressed with the fast response and at home support pregnant woman have if they think something doesn't feel right.
The medical statistics for pregnancy for the Netherlands are better than for Portugal. Perhaps the resulted of the so called paracetamol approach?
I'm not familiar with the statistics and if the conclusions include the differences in approaches, but I do hear that The Netherlands has a very good healthcare system in regards to pregnancy. The doctors in Portugal who were familiar with the Hospitals in The Netherlands only had positive opinions to share.
Hahahahaaha
Unfortunately the crappy wages in Portugal are making people to flee OUT of the country. And Portugal is decaying decaying decaying decaying decaying. It´s a bankrupcy place. I got out of Portugal several times. I returned back just to try on again again maybe it was my mistake. Definitively i was right. So . Nothing else to say. Good country for millionaires ( is it ? )
Very good for tourism :) And for sure it has seen better times. Hopefully it will improve in the future!
In Japan, there's a checkup with echo every month until the last 3 months. After that it's every 2 weeks. The father being present is extremely rare and at the same time have the epidural (no pain) is even more rare and cost 800 euro option because, you know ... will know, pain is what make you feel a mother and the epidural is a luxury
Thank you so much for sharing. It is very interesting to know how different they do things in Japan. I really appreciated that in The Netherlands the father is encouraged to be as present as possible and that woman have the option to choose pain relief without a significant financial impact.
@@mafaldaboers How much is the epidural in the NL?
Mmmm interesting it seems as if you approach pregnancy as an illness. because what are you going to do if it's not right?? more pills? folic acid and taking good care of yourself should be enough to have a healthy child. look at countries where this is not possible at all to be monitored, many healthy children are still born there. Oh and why do you think you have to wait so lang in Portugal?? Maybe because every pregnant woman is handeld like a patient? And that why they are overworked?? Could be? I wish you a beautiful and healthy child and you a healthy happy mother! Enjoy! Your body can so much more than you think!!!
i will laugh so high now with your comment.
Unfortunately folic acid and taking good care of ourselves isn't enough for a lot of pregnant woman. Many of these cases can be identified and treated/controlled due to the preventative care and constant monitoring. I also think more factors can explain the service in Portugal, I would not attribute it directly to how they approach pregnancy. Maybe low wages, lack of labour, poor infrastructure etc Thank you so much for your good wishes!
Congratulations and all the best for the upcoming time.
Thank you!
Iam considering london
Thinking about it..... ❤
A very comprehensive list! Thanks! I wonder how this cost of living compares with the wages a typical worker would make. Here in the US housing costs (rent or own) have increased dramatically without a corresponding increase in the wages causing many young people to have to work several jobs in order to get by. Oh one note, in the us it is called insulation rather than isolation.
Boas Mafalda!! fazes videos com bom gosto
Loneliness is something many people are confronted with in their lives and I believe it's very prevalent in the Netherlands as well as Dutch people tend to take pride in being "zelfredzaam" (self-reliant). And sharing your personal feelings isn't always part of that. It works when you're feeling strong, when life is smiling, but of course that won't be always the case. Especially during the Covid period there was marked rise in the amount of people feeling emotionally down, especially young people. I can only imagine how hard it is when you're just moved into a new country, taking your first steps into a strange culture. It's true as well making friends as an adult isn't as easy as when you were young. The challenge however isn't insurmountable, but it does require a fair share of positive attitude and courage. This is something everyone can do, no matter the challenge presented. Start small, by figuratively planting one foot before the other. Eventually you'll get there. And never forget to be yourself, as the best you can be is just yourself. :)
Very informative, Mafalda. Hope you're having a good time in our beautiful country. :)
The flooring thing took me by surprise! Never heard of it before. That's a big deal for an international student trying to movie.
I don't think it's that big a deal. For a 'furnished' apartment you'll be quickly be paying a few hundred extra. Laminate flooring + foam underlay can be had for 8-9 euro p. sq. meter. It's easy to install yourself in a few hours in a small apartment.
part2
Wow thanks that was the best video I watched about this topic as you are comparing many cities and covering different kinds of expenses. The summaries are also very nice at the end.
@celilgunes8698 I really appreciate your feedback! Happy to help ☺️
