Thanks for watching the video. Always open the helping So I may be a little slow on responding. The only thing I would do differently is bag my hardware specifically where it came from and mark each bag. Make sure to support the transmission with a jack that you can move up and down. Be careful, careful and try to have fun! Duane

​@DuaneUrch just pulled the engine from the top. Your video helped direct me on where to go. I removed the axle just because it was already coming out anyway. This was actually pretty easy, in some ways its not as tedious compared to going from the bottom, I hate messing with frames as well. Now on to installing

@DuaneUrch i think I still prefer going from the bottom. But Ill tell you if I do it from the top a couple more times and get familiar with it I will probably stick to the top 👍 The home DIYer should begin by doing it from the bottom, there's less things that can potentially break.

Overhead is the big driver on the costs! EST. 10 hours out and 10 hours in, not counting all the wait time on the seal, engine/transmission mounts. If there are no issues! And there is always issues LOL ! No doubt more in labor than the cost of the engine. Thanks for watching. More videos on the way. Hope life is treating you well!

This old engine would have run longer BUT my grandson is a new driver and ran it with the coolant low. blew a head gasket, we tore it down and did a valve job... but saw some scoring on the #2 cylinder, put it back together as an oil burner. Got 15,000 more miles out of it and decided to make the change the engine while the car was here for a rear suspension rebuild. Thanks for watching! Go for 5000,000!

I just went online and started to educate myself on your comment. (THAT WAS A LONG TIME COMING). I didn't even know such a thing existed. Wind and stones. I had a car parked in the road and one in the driveway so I was trying not to hit them with the stones. The wind was also coming from my back so I didn't want it blowing back on me on the way back up the drive. Thanks for watching the video and making comments. Thanks for all the great advice! I will definitely be using the Fluid Film since I already use it on all my automobiles. I even have the spry gun and aerosol cans on hand. I will confess that It never occurred to me to use it on the snowblower. Didn't even know that there was such a thing as a 120 volt electric starter, and I have been twisting wrenches most of my life. Thanks again! Duane

@@DuaneUrch Most of the starters on snowblowers operate independently of any electrical system in the snowblower (e.g., for lights or grip warmers). They simply use house current via an extension cord (either the one provided with the machine or a standard 3 prong -- Me... I use either a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord. I don't think I own a 16 or 18 gauge cord!). There are dedicated snowblowers with batteries out there in the world but I haven't encountered one in person!

Thanks for the great advice about using anti-seize on the axle hubs, that is definitely going on my list of things to get done. Someone else also suggested using Fluid Film on the sheet metal seams and areas where the paint gets worn off. I agree with you that more reverse speeds would be convenient, I have it in the back of my mind that it's that way for safety and Liability. Thanks again for the comments and for watching! Duane

Yes on the side that is usually mounted to the floor or wall of the mounting flange ( I called it a fitting) it was relieved that allowed room for the core weld. But you me wondering about 40 size of the tank. So when I got home a found a calculator on line that I could put in the dimensions to find the cubic inches of a cylinder that is 44” X 19” in diameter. It calculated to 12,475.26 cubic inches. I found that a gallon of water has 231 cubic inches. I divided 12,475.26 by 231 and came up with 54.005 gallons. There’s no way I could’ve figured that out the internet! Thanks for making me think!

I live on gravely/sandy soil and it hardens up like a rock when it’s dry. I can actually drive a full cement truck over the yard when it’s dry and Get hardly any ruts.

Sent that last message incomplete by accident. Sorry. 50 gallons of water weighs 417 pounds approximately. I felt that extra 200 pounds in the drum was worth the inconvenience.

Likely nominal 50 USG or 40 Imperial Gallons. I made one out of a Stainless pressure vessel and total weight with water is 970 lbs. It is about 20" in diameter. Flanged and dished heads. I used blocks of Oak drilled for 1" SS Pipe welded to the ends for Bearings. Flush welded SS couplings and plugs on each end. Works best on wet soil . It does not fill in the holes, just mashes down the bumps.
