Do they really think that I'm gonna pay 6 bucks for every youtube channel I want to watch?? Or, do they think THEIR content is so much better that they deserve my 6 bucks over everyone else I watch for free? Imagine every single youtuber charged a $6 subscription.

I think they watched the numbers over the weekend of signups and CZcams subs and realized it would tank their business. This was apology or bankruptcy imo

The "eat the rich" people now understand why it's okay to be rich and wanting to stay that way. Sounds like the audience is warming up to capitalism with being okay with ads for "free "content.

Great commentary! I think the amount of success and money they were making made them completely unaware of how the “real world” their fans live in actually functions.

I was a big fan of Shane and Ryan, followed them from Buzzfeed to Watcher. While I'm on a limited income, I don't go out a lot, so my "fun money" often goes toward streaming services and things - the cost for me isn't necessarily the problem. I don't want to sign up for another site. I already choose to just not watch plenty of popular shows if they're not on steaming services I already have because I can't be bothered anymore to manage another subscription, another app, or to download another thing. I watched Alizee's video on this situation and she makes a full time living from CZcams and from her view, they have very advertiser friendly content and so I really feel like there is an issue of them overspending here - overhiring, doing big budget projects, etc, even though nobody asked for that, and now they are asking their subscribers to foot the bill.

You did great, I would of never guest you only have 200 subscribers. I've been listening to a lot of takes on this and yours is as good as any. Keep plugging away, you'll get there.

About they sounding insincere, yeah, I totally get it. I know it's not a big deal, but as someone who doesn't like to distrust others, it feels weird that you never know when someone is lying (if they're not super obvious ofc). Like, if you had a keyword or something that could 100% prove you're being honest, the liars could just take it and use it too. All we can do is judge for ourselves if we believe them or not. (sorry for mistakes, english is my 2nd language) Great video btw, loved the intro <3

I hate to say it but I definitely feel like they’re hiding something about the whole “relevant to advertisers” thing, they have some of the most tame content I’ve seen and I have no idea how they are struggling with sponsors. I literally watched a sponsored video last night where one of the ppl in said video PISSED THEMSELF FOR A JOKE 😭😭 If a joke like that can be in a sponsored video with no issues there is definitely something else going on here

Very very very good take. Youre not coming from a place of anger but logic and personal experience. I agree with everything youre saying. This move will be historic I think. I would postulate that they probably put themselves into debt with this streaming platform and need to recoup thr costs. But their fundamental flaw was not understanding their audience. They can make all the content they want to their artistic standards but is anyone willing to pay for it, especially when they key demographic is broke people used to getting their product for free.

This goes against the other videos you’ve made though. The boymoms didn’t ask for your negative criticism nor did the watcher channel but such is life I guess. World is full of hypocrisy.

I watch CZcams on my Tv... It's better than actual shows in my opinion. I don't pay for actual TV channels because so many people put out such great things to watch even if it's not TV level quality. Watcher was one of them... I will continue to watch since they back tracked now... but who knows what will come of their channel.

I have a hard time understanding why this is an issue. If they want to leave, and if one doesn't want to pay for the service, they don't pay.

I mean, I genuinely don't get what you want them to do. They apologized, what more do you want? Deleting the channel, never show themselves on the internet again? Do people not deserve a 2nd chance at anything. Fuck up once and be done with. Yeah, it's a pretty big fuck up, and I was pretty pissed off too but c'mon.

I never particularly liked Steven, but now I’ll never forget that his gold flake eating, tesla driving ass told us with total confidence that $6 a month to watch him travel around the world eating expensive food in the middle of a global recession, on the brink of WW3, was super affordable and worth it for everyone. Not in a million years, sir, read the damn room.

I can’t shake the feeling that important info is being withheld from us..this apology didn’t address the *real* reason why they made this horrible decision to begin with. I really feel they needed this to resolve some serious pressing financial issue & that’s why it was so hasty & not thought out whatsoever

The fact they loudly stated they wanted to double dip into their fans' wallets, I can't enjoy their content anymore. Plus, an apology that has "sorry we explained poorly" always sounds like "sorry you're stupid to understand what we meant." Least they apologized. The bar is in hell cause of the standard CZcamsr apology
