My father was from the community of Leonville in St. Landry Parish. He was 10 years old in 1927 and experienced this event. He used to tell me stories of growing up in rural Louisiana when I was a child. I return to my ancestral home periodically and notice that things have not changed much there since I left Louisiana in the 90's. Heck, they have not changed much since 1927. A truly unique region of the USA!
