can a Main breaker be repaired? I have a Murray Crouse 200amp breaker that the switch is not snapping in place and seems loose after powering it back on. a new one is around $1200 bucks.
Thank you for a sanity check..I just bought a brand new 40 space Siemens PN panel Siemens SN4060B1200 and the main breaker won't lock over to the ON position. I checked the breaker with an ohmeter and the main breaker switch stays open circuit. It didn't come with machine screws to attach the front panel to the back piece either.
What is a good substitute for a Siemens 200 amp main breaker
So, hopefully, not a difficult question. Im looking at installing an interlock system in my panel, which is in the garage. This will include a 30amp inlet wall plug for the solar generator to bring power to the panel. The problem is that my main breaker is on the outside of the garage with the power company meter. My panel in the garage has a main breaker punch out. I found one on Amazon for Siemens panel. It's a 200amp double pole breaker with one switch. Would this work. I've attached a link to amazon to show what im talking about. It also comes with the 30amp breaker that would be for the solar generator, and the interlock kit will sit between the main 200amp breaker and this 30amp breaker. Also, do you know how much electricians usually would charge for installing the main breaker in the panel. It doesn't look hard. I just dont want to void any homeowners insurance by doing electrical myself. Hopefully, not thousands. Nice job. 😊
Looks like my 20yo Siemens breaker won't move to the Off position....so guess I'll need to run down. Good news is it looks like this is an easy swap minus finding the breaker and of course any permit needed. Thanks for the video!
turn off all of the other breakers, then if you are able to pull the meter in your area without calling the power company, pull it. Check to make the wires feeding the main breaker are dead. You should need a flat head screwdriver, an Allen-key(not sure what size) and a socket either a 7/16 or 1/2 inch. And finally use noalox on the wires when putting them back into the breaker. It is good practice. If you have any questions, we can be reached on Instagram @taselectricllc
@@taselectric8206 thanks. I was able to get the part but checking on permits and power company; new smart meters have a security tag on them.
You need a closeup of how your doing it. Its hard to see with you standing IFO the panel and the shadows don't help. Just saying...
Pull the meter, loosen the lugs for the wire, remove the bolts that hold the breaker to the bus and remove breaker. Installation is in reverse
