Mr. Peanutbutter: Bojack's Most Reliable Friend
They've always had a really interesting relationship with one another. In the first few seasons, it's unclear how they really feel about each other: while Bojack is openly resentful, Mr. Peanutbutter is suspiciously nice. Ultimately, as we learn more about these two, we start to understand why they act that way, and realize that they have quite a bit in common, despite their very different behavior.
As they both are jealous of the other's life and envy what the have, they also look up to one another as having the ideal traits that they themselves lack. It's interesting that they resolve to treat each other in such different ways, but regardless, once they're able to voice and put words to these emotions, their relationship blossoms. They really needed to understand each other before they could move forward, and once they do, they have a very consistent and enduring friendship that will last long past the finale. And we love to see it! Enemies to lovers- I mean friends!
Thanks SO much for watching- seriously! We appreciate each and every like and comment, and love to discuss the show!

The Importance of Jordan Li from "Gen V".
This character was one that didn't take me long to fall in love with. I was so pleased that someone in the comments requested I make some videos about Gen V, as I really think the cast of that show is highly underrated. While it doesn't have Homelander or Butcher, the cast is incredibly intelligently written, and one of the prime examples of that is Jordan Li. The performance from the two actor...
Why Does Everyone LOVE "Free Churro"?

There's a reason why this is one of the most-discussed episodes of Bojack Horseman. Not only does it take a big swing with its storytelling, but it also has some of the greatest and dialogue and character reflection I've ever seen on television. The way they dive into Bojack's familial relationships and display them with such care and complexity is nothing short of brilliant. All three of them ...

@sadnessforbreakfast pointed this out to me, and I really didn't notice just how true it actually is. Is Soldier Boy Truly a Villain?

A fair question, especially after the mixed response when I first called him a villain. Upon analysis, I truly don't think it's fair to call him a complete villain. There is a lot of complexity to this character that adds enough to elevate him to a new class. Is he an anti-hero? I'm not sure that word is best to describe him, either, especially since he faces against the heroes of this series. ...

SPOILERS Still NEARLY my favorite episode of the entire show since it came out. The aftereffects of the decisions made from the beginning of this episode can be felt for the rest of the series, including season 6. One of the more requested of the Bojack video essays, probably because this relationship is front and center for most of the seasons of the show. And due to that, it does contain a lot of layers and mistakes from both parties. However, one common opinion that I see is one where the audience places the blame on either Diane or Mr. Peanutbutter, when it's really neither of their faults. No one ca...

i would actually argue that the funeral parlor not being the correct one shows how separated from bojacks mother he feels. everyone in her life is a stranger to him because he doesn't truly know her. they both kept distance from each other to the point that neither of them knew who would show up to the others' funeral. even if he had been in the correct room, it would still be a group of strangers

the funniest thing is that after watching this, i fell asleep and had a relatively disturbing dream that ended with my mother trying to lighten the mood by buying a tub/box of churros the dream itself had absolutely nothing to do with bojack horseman, just a typical trippy mess with one of my old primary teachers i just find it funny that this episode is all about bojack working through the fact that his now dead mother never ever loved him, and to stop clinging onto that hope because now it will never happen, only receiving a single god damn churro despite all of the shit that he has to now deal with (on that episode alone specifically) yet my dream was about my own mother, doing her best to aid me and be there for me despite anything else going on, the dream itself ending with at least 10 churros im not sure if the universe is trying to tell me something lol, but i had been having slight doubts about the extent of my mother's love due to events in the past but now its just made me think about it all again, and im gonna try and let go of what happened now. never thought bojack horseman would actually help me besides comfort, but here we are, and i sure as hell appreciate it.

Mr Peanutbutter always kinda pissed me off. It could be the fact that I'm a bit of a Diane in that it really bothers me that this absent-minded, privileged, unchanging guy can stumble upwards through life just by being a kind person, when being kind is never usually enough. I don't dislike HIM, but just the idea that he can always just be kind and funny and have that be enough to get him happily through life without really growing or changing for most of the show.

I have a secret theory (that I haven't fully convinced myself of yet) that Mr. Peanutbutter is actually more savvy than he lets on. The one time I'm absolutely convinced of this is when he steals the "D" theft, so to speak. And I'm mostly there about Cordovia - like, to get out of being found out, he says to Diane, "You'll never believe this, but there's someone here that looks EXACTLY like you!" Just food for thought! 🤔

The worst thing Bojack did was fail Sarah Lynn. He failed to step up for so many people. But I think he was uniquely in a position to help Sarah Lynn. Other people , both main cast and peripherals, were able to understand that Bojack wasn't able to contribute and search for other venues to meet their needs. With Sarah Lynn, there is a sense that she is just waiting around, doing shit she doesn't care about until Bojack shows up again.

  • @twokindsofovenfries32

Also the Int. Sub thing was insanely bad on Diane's part because she does not consider the feelings of the victims at all. Same as those with Hank Hippopopolis. it sucks that justice isn't dished out, but Diane kind of puts being "right" over what would be the best for women in that scenario. Imagine how mortified Penny would be after the episode aired. She wouldn't be the only one who knew about it- Pete Repeat seems to know. And not only that, she would think BOJACK was the one who introduced the story. Because who else knows?

I enjoyed this season but... Have VERY mixed opinions about it! They've upped the gore... Violence... And sexual innuendo but, that alone isn't enough to keep the vast majority of viewers hooked to this show! And as for ALL those superfluous story lines? Frenchie...? Kimiko...? Hughie's Dad? Were they REALLY necessary to the overall plot of the show? That insane and over-the-top stuff with those V'ed up farm animals, was also another WTF moment. Funny? Sure... I guess! But they've done this kind of stuff WAY better in previous seasons! Like that laser-eyed baby in Season One! Anyway... There was enough in this season's tank, to keep me going. Only because I am intrigued to see how they end this show in the next and final season. And yes.... I'm glad they're going to final wrap this great show up! Before they run it into the ground like Game of Thrones!!

Both grew up in a rather dysfunctional family, with both their biggest parental figures (mom of PC and dad of Bea) doing their damnest to demean and put down their child. Yet outcome is different. PC wanting to be a mother, failing to become one time and time again, being a working mother with good ethics of support and kindness to others. Bea detesting being a mother, having a child out of pure accident on her first try, despising work and not valuing hardship of others and being openly hostile, without an ounce of support.

I honestly think PB's negative traits like his flighty-ness, distractibility and forgetfulness makes him the friend Bojack needs at the end of the series. His relationships with Diane, PC and Todd failed because they became enmeshed, Diane and PC especially feeling the burden of having to emotionally support and help him all the time. PB will never carry Bojack's burdens for him. He might try but he'll put them down for a moment and forget them, however that'd always been BJ's work to do if he wants to progress. What PB will do is BE there, not at Bojack's beck and call but regularly. He'll pick him up from prison and give him a place to stay. I think there's an honest criticism you could make of PB's willingness to associate with Bojack after he knows what he did, reflective of how he'll overlook uncomfortable issues as long as they're ignorable. However I also think people NEED that kind of human (dog) contact, and I don't think you can expect people to do better without it. Those day to day relationships ground you and the fact that someone's there to check in physically or notice if something's seriously wrong is important. Helping PB with his issues and giving him advice also gives Bojack someone else to focus on, and that itself can be helpful in getting you out of your head. They won't make each other better, but maybe friendships aren't meant to do that. I think what they can do is provide the structure and stability for each other to work on themselves.

BJ's mom telling him to not drink from open containers because she said Hollywood is a "town is full of AIDS.” (she said this in the 90s) and how the OG BJ narcissus painting is painted by a gay man. BJ running from male figures because of Butterscotch. Back when Beatrice was in her nursing home, she told Hollyhock about lady named Beth and how she got mad when Beth wouldn't eat her casserole so Beatrice started a rumor in the nursing home that Beth's son is gay.
