Gibson SG upgrade or downgrade?

Swapped out the pots and caps, shielded the cavity but in the end it was the Tone Gnome that made all the difference... :)

Installing phase switch in another strat
First question: How much extra USD premium did you pay to get "White Limba" instead of the regular variety? Secondly, Do you think it sounds the same as an Alder strat body? TIA!
This is actually the best sound representation of this guitar on yt. I've seen them all. I have the guitar and it exactly sounds like this.
Sounds really nice, was this the one you were building?
are you testing if it sounds like an electric guitar? Nobody online can hear what it actually sounds like. I don't see the point
Your a strat player usually I guess maybe wrong
You could turn the pickup upside down and just drill whole in pickguard instead cutting the wood.
Did you install the gk5 kit , or did you engineer another solution ? Great video. Oops, just seeing your install video. Nice.
Hi, thanks for demo did you compare gm with other synth guitar in terms of playability/latency?ciao
Not really, the only other guitar synths I've played were old ones from the 80ties.
That first pattern sounds like it could be cacophony. I like the ultra in-tune sound but the straight frets sound more guitar like.
is this the aluminum pickguard ?
yes it is. but now that pickguard and pickups need to find a new guitar
Would be nice to hear that beauty :)
I will try and get around to it :)
👍
I have a Fn awesome DM style warmoth...(blows any fender out of the water and to the moon), but i feel only 5 positions for those wonderful SD pickups just isn't enough. It's almost redundant imo... you can get damn near endless switching possibilities with 2 humbuckers. I feel like you should have at least 7/8 positions with an HHH setup.
What wood is that fretboard? Guitar is gorgeous.
They both sound great👍✝️👏
some of the coolest fucking strats i've seen and they're all so original.
It looks awesome great job on the guitar 🎸 and video 👍😎🤘
Do you still have that guitar? What do you think about the pickup height, isn't it just too low? I have ambivalent feelings with mine, it had many imperfections, too, especially with the bindings. And 2 frets were very high, I had to level them. Despite all of these, I think I like it. However, it offers a different experience than I was looking for initially. I expected a decent Junior, but this is a unique thing. (So, still looking for a decent Junior, sorry but no Gibson)
I still have it, but I swapped the pickup for a Lace Alumitone.
All way the Alumintone pickup. I love pickups with clarity and character for clean sounds and a good string tone separation when crunched. Not only in these categories the Alumitones shine, the dynamic is also fantastic and the sound of a guitar becomes less dependent on the input impedance of an amp or pedal with Alumitone pickups.
I have no idea why I was recommended this but fair play uploading it- always important for people to see what work goes into improving a guitar even when it's not the "sexy" stuff
Thank You very much for the great comparison!. S-D Cool Rails. I loved Lace back in the early 90's..but what I hear from the Alumitone is a bit flat and tasteless. I WANT to use them but you can't unhear what you hear. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
is it the dAndrea Pickguard Red Sparkle ? it looks amazing
yes it's a dAndrea red sparkle pickguard
Hi, I was looking for this type of video and at the Lace pickups. Sounds great. But!! What is the tune called you play from 3.44 minutes in to the video? Cheers
I guess it is some variation/interpretation/improvisation on an old traditional tune called Portsmouth, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_(instrumental)
Great Stuff, I knew I had heard it before. Thank you.
Самый лучший тест. Спасибо за чистый звук!!
I had the same issue on a Gold Glory I had. Stuck out on same side. I miss that guitar.
Sounds better then maple or rosewood?
Neck wood has zero influence on sound in an electric guitar
@@Lomoholga2your ears have failed you.
@@zyxwfish go read up on sensation and precept and how they influence one another. It will likely take another generation of people before the tonewood nonsense dies out in electric guitars The physics of it can be explained, but the CZcams videos of electric guitars being made out of laminated jawbreakers, popsicle sticks, pencil crayons etc etc does a lot to convince people But yeah…fretboard material makes a difference lol
@@Lomoholga2 watch the Warmoth neck wood shootout and tell me the goncalo alves neck sounds the same as rest. The others are more close. The goncalo alves is drastically different.
@@Lomoholga2Through a chain of gain, effects, and compression, the difference in wood or other build material is negligible, but plugging straight into the amp, it's pretty noticeable. The real difference is less in the sustained tone than in the feel or attack. I've done it, swapping the same pickup in guitars with radically different wood (one being all maple, the other all mahogany, same scale length), at they sounded and felt way different. So yeah, do the science - maybe enough self-congradulatory comments on the internet will win you some followers. And I'll keep playing, and trusting my ears!
Hey brother, it’s more about intonation and chords than single note’s and runs.
Wow, Musiclily Aluminum pick guard for stratocaster. Thank you so much for supporting us. -Nina 😊
I can dig it.
Nice! I enjoyed the version of TB, Mike Oldfield is awesome! I've just order some of these tuners, thanks for the vid 👍
Some sweet “The End” vibes
I don't care about the tone, it sounds so good
Sounds amazing!
I’ve seen some other demos out there, and specifically the single-coil sized Alumitone in the neck position always sounds great.
nice. did you notice any difference in noise from the shielding affect of the aluminum?
Beautiful neck
Love the harmony building via delay and in general the Oldfield-esqe tones and fingerstyle playing. Cheers.
A slightly distorted electric guitar...😊
The first pedal sounds absolutely dreadful. You cant go wrong with any Vahlbruch pedal.
Sir. Is it possible to install a seymour duncan nazgul humbucker as bridge with dimarzio tonezone humbucker as neck ? Would they have phase issue ? (Both 4 wired) since the resistence and output slightly different .
Well you might get them out of phase, but then you need to swap the start and end wires on one of the pickups. And yes output volume might differ as well. I like to lower the middle pickup to get i out of the way of my picking, so I also like to have a more hot pickup in the middle to compensate. But try you might find the perfect tone... or burn your fingers while soldering and desoldering :)
also check out dimarzios docs, and maybe add some switches to try different wirings d2emr0qhzqfj88.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/diagrams/4Conductor_94.pdf
Beautiful guitar!!
Don't ruin it by playing "Eye of the Tiger" on it.
Is the DPDT switch used to reverse the phase of the middle pickup?
yes
Got worse
Why wouldn’t you put a screw in after drilling first two holes to hold it in place ?
🤔hehe, well I had to learn the hard way to drill in the correct places czcams.com/video/8EAXi8Xz8lo/video.html I'll will try your suggestion in the future 👍
I bought the Gibson p90 cream cover but The pole distance did it fit, any suggestions ???
Mine was just a little bit off so I used a small round file to enlarge the holes, probably about 1 mm on the edges. However mine wasn't a Gibson cover but some cheaper altarnative so if I messed up it wasn't a big loss.
My Strat Plus Deluxe PICKUP Configuration is SILVER NECK ...SILVER MIDDLE ...BLUE... BRIDGE

So its a shit guitar??great i wont buy it.
I bought this guitar, however does need a good fretboard setup and polish but other than that this guitar is killer.
