My Wife, Maita, and I, have been married for 19 years, most of it in the USA. We decided to return to her homeland last year. We found a house and land out in the country, close to the Taal Lake and Volcano. We have lived through Typhoons, volcano eruptions, and now a Pandemic, but our time here has been mostly great. So, this vlog is mostly about our experiences here, Life here in the Philippine Islands.
Surviving the Storm!!
The recent Tropical Storm that hit the Philippines did great damage, mostly in the forms of flooding and Landslides. Fortunately, Casa De Gecko had very little damage. We take a little walk around our yard. Please subscribe, like, and leave a comment..

My last video was around my Hood, and how living in the Province can be a good thing to do. It's easy to have good relationships with your neighbors, and many are willing to be workers when you need it. And having a jungle around is a good place to roam around and learn new plants. Thats where we get many of our plants. Please subscribe, like, and leave a comment.

You have a beautiful home at casa de gecko!!
Good to know tatay Barry that your safe 🌻💙🖐️
You got yourself a nice garden there Barry 👍 Maybe a small tip from my side. I notice that the bottom of your walls are dirty. That is when the rain falls on the soil/grass and then splashes it on the wall. If you lay 6 -8 inch wide gravel all along the base of the wall that will stop the rain from splashing the soil/dirt on your wall . I done it myself and it works 😜
Yeah, we have a lot of small things that we keep needing to do. We are on a budget now, so we try to do small things that doesn't break our budget. It seems like we have big things that come up and we just have to set other thing back. But we are getting there. We have plans to get solar to cut our electric bills, which are high. Our land is 1000 sq. meters and I'm glad that we live in a safe area and we have five dogs that keep it that way. Our dogs are friendly dogs, they just like to bark at people.
Hello tatay Barry enjoy the rainy day
Definitely try the see through shirt, tatay Barry!
Hi Barry, you're a funny guy, don't forget the high heels 😜 and instead of your cap you need a wig 😂
We had a great time visiting. We will try to see the monkeys next time :)
Enjoy tatay barry💙💙💙
Good times :)
Any day with a beer and friends is a good day Barry!
Good friends and good Beer, always a good time.
Have a good time with friends and family! Life here in America seems soo different from like in the Philippines. Makes me miss home! Right now, we’re experiencing Philippine summer here in Chicago. High 90s today 🥵 🥵 🥵
Yes, life here is different but it is easy to adapt to life here. People are so friendly and welcoming here. There is very little gun violence here. I feel safe here. Since I am so old, people always want to help. The climate is really nice. I am enjoying my retirement life here. When you all come here, please come for a visit. We will show y'all around.
@@barryinthepi390 I would love to visit, tatay Barry! I will be in the Philippines in Feb.
Good session, Barry! Enjoy your weekend with your friends, soak up some sun and cooler temps... They sound quite bearable to me! It's cooling off here in Dubai too, but still high 30's (C) during the day... We're packing stuff up for Balikbayan shipping, like that! Still have a few months to go before cutting ties here for good... Also, missions to complete in several countries prior to arrival there... It's getting busy! TC... 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
All great advice and we are looking forward to the visit this weekend.
♥️🌻♥️ God bless tatay barry
Hello tatay Barry! I hope we can help you save up to get that camera you want! ❤❤
Thanks, it seems everytime I can save some money, something else happens that I need to spend the money on. Maintaining a house and car does require money.
@@barryinthepi390 I totally get it!
Glad to see you got the Internet fixed :)
Barry, I know how she feels with the heat. Living here in Arkansas, then going back to Michigan for a couple years and then coming back to all this heat and humidity? I hope she can acclimate soon, so she'll feel a lot better. Y'all be safe.
Hi Ernie, yes she is getting used to the heat. She just carries on and askes me to wipe her back with a towel. She's a tough little woman, she only 4'10".
Barry just a heads up you need to go to the immigration office in minila to register your new passport so you dont have problems with travel here .i live in laguna immigration told me to go to the main office to get it done its free
I do need to go to the PRA to get the Visa put into my new passport.
Great video tatay Barry!
Mine's coming up for renewal soom. Were you able to renew your at your local immigration office ? Take care Barry.
I did most of it online. I did have to get passport photos at a local shop, and had to pay for it on the gov't website. The US Embassy website is what I used.
Always love your content my friend :)
yes i just got my passport renewed took 7 weeks to receive was a very simple process i had to go to manila to get it registered that was free good thing because cost me 3000 pesos to get a car to take me there and back
I didn't have to go to the embassy, just had it delivered via the embassy's delivery service. I was always worrying about it since I never got any notice from the embassy until it was here.
A very nice subjects about "New Passport renewal completed, and other news." Real and very informative video at the same time. Barry, You look younger every time you post one of your interesting videos, you most be loved or in love or certainly both... Full support already. Best of luck po/Ned 👍🎉👍
Hello tatay Barry nag gala po pala kayo enjoy po💙💙💙
Mr. Barry, why is there no closed captioning on your last 2 post? I am hard of hearing, and enjoy reading along as you show us your Phillipine life.
I didn't know it was off. I will make sure it is on from now on. Thanks forletting me know about that.
I ❤ looking at old photos! There’s so much memories on them!! Nice to see you out and about in the city, tatay Barry!
Those old photos were really interesting. One of them was of a Young Imelda Marcos when she visited the area.
Good morning from Cali
Happy to see a video from you everyday! Very relaxing as well as entertaining. Ingat po, tatay Barry!
Good Content mister! keep it up❤
Thanks, I do try to put out good, interesting content.
It's dark🎉
Yes, you never know what lurks around you when it gets dark.
So beautiful tatay barry
My mama would ❤ it there! She ❤ plants and our home is covered in plants and flowers as well! Always stay safe tatay Barry!
There's lots to do in The Philippines for sure... I've enjoyed each period working there as a consultant... On weekends I'd travel to different areas to see the sites... Having the garden is a great way to get some sun and air... Not to mention staying close to nature...Lots to be said for that over big city living... Mid-week already, time flies when you enjoy what you're doing! TC you two...Enjoy the rest of your week! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
We didn't get amy rain today, but it was cloudy with a cool and a little windy. It was a nice day to be outside. I love it when everything is cleaned up and looking good. You have a good week too.
The dogs probably buried a bone there. Free plants are better than paying a nursery.
I tink there was some kinda grounding wire there. Didn't see any kind of bone.
Lookin good out there 🎉
Y'all come by and we can take a walk down to the jungle. Maita can drive us back up the hill.
I am always interested in hearing the stories of how people have gone through their life journeys. So interesting. Thank you for sharing. What a testament to resilience and determination for both of you. You moved, adapted, and succeeded wherever you went. You have been a fine team together. Nice to see you both in the Philippines enjoying life. Enjoying your videos.
Great advice tatay Barry! You remind me of my papa ( he’s turning 90 in November) who’s still in the Philippines ❤❤.
A nice ride to be touring with! Such a truck is perfect for the roads... Good, bad, or almost nonexistent, no matter the conditions that vehicle will push through... The bypass that's done is nice...Saves on traffic I'm sure... At some point, when complete, it'll be too busy... Tagatay is a beautiful area...Like Baguio a bit...I can believe prices are higher for real estate... Still worth it for the peace of mind you can have... Have a nice week and thanks for the tour! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
If they can get thie overpass done and the Bypass road completed, it will make it faster and easier to get to Taygatay and beyond. There is so much to see and do around here, and then there is the weather which is so much cooler, its a great place to live. ot visit. Oh, I do like my Toyota Pickup. I am glad Maita likes to drive it. She didn't want to drive it at first, she thought it was too big.
Thank you both for the tour of your awesome neighborhood.
Good advice Barry.
Yes po tatay Barry it's good for you to live in the province 😍 fresh air fresh food
Get a monitor lizard 🎉
We have found 2 monitor Lizards in our yard. Well the dogs found them. The lizard was biting Pepper on the ear and Lilly bit the lizard as the other dogs were barking loudly. the lizard went into playing dead as Maita threw it over the fence. Always something going on here at Casa De Gecko.
Great points with dash of fun as usual, in your video "Living in the Province. Good place to live.". sharing. I really enjoyed watching it in full, as with all your other videos... Best of luck, and warmest regards my dear Barry/Ned 👍🎉👍
That was a very nice walk, tatay Barry! Stay safe and healthy!
Nice walk around Barry
Sorry you have to live in those conditions. But most expats here are low income struggling nobody’s that think they’re living like kings.
First container house I've seen over there on a real lot (not in the sales yard)... Older than dirt shirt looks great! I'm thinking it would fit well on a few of us, lol! Goal now for me? To be older than dirt, haha! Let's see... Nice tour... Thanks! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 💙💙💙 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
Yeah, its the first one I have seen , but A guy was building some up in Zambales I heard. It is suppose to be cheaper. I expect to be around when Manila is under water. That probably won't happen for another 20 years.
@@barryinthepi390 😂
It's a jungle for sure! That new bridge is nice, looks very safe... Great to have some public areas to take a walk through... A workout plus you never know what you'll see! Quail...Good eating... Is there a demand there for these birds? Good to know I can get some there... We used to have quail, ducks, geese, turk3 and of course chicken growing up... Add to that cuisine beef, bear, moose, deer, and rabbits, and you'll never run out of variety! Nice tour thanks you two! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 💙💙💙 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
We never knew about that area until we moved in. Those families that live there are now our friends and workers. Very nice people. Maita will be down there with our yard guy getting some of those plants. I do enjoy walking down there but it is getting harder for me to do..
@@barryinthepi390 Nice! 👍☺️👍
Hello tatay Barry 🖐️is that an abandoned house or for renovation?
I'm right there with you on age. I could wear that shirt as well. Nice neighborhood you live in. The container house is going to be huge. However, not for me. I'm too old for a two story house.
Yep, we both said we need a single story house. I'm even more glad that we did now. I coulddn't see myself walking up and down stairs.
