The Honda XR250R is undeniably an all time classic dual sport bike, but, with its electric start, will the Yamaha TTR250 have the advantage over the much loved kicker? I will test them both and bring you the lowdown.

Problems with Delkevic? Their products seem great value but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired as reflected in their trust pilot reviews. But perseverance does eventually pay off. It shouldn't be this way. they are not the only UK company producing great products only to be let down by their lack of customer care. Come on Delkevic, bring your customer care up to the level of your...

Introduction to future scram 411 modifications
I've owned both, very different bikes. The XR was unburstable, but hot starting was a real problem, really not ideal in the middle of a 6 hour enduro. TTR was a better all-rounder, I only had problems with the spragg-clutch, otherwise excellent.
What year ttr? I'm working on a 2001 ttr 225. I like the bigger tank and risers you got. 👍
If you’d like to try your new setup out on less gnarly lanes, we could meet up and do some in the Cotswolds 🤔
Sounds like a plan, just got to get the bike back together first 🤣
Great to meet you Dom. It was a pleasure riding together and fair play doing as well as you did with a heavier bike.
@@chrishodgson338 cheers Chris. Likewise mate, you deffo stepped up in my hour of need lol. If I were 20 years younger on a lightweight 2 stroke like you, I still wouldn't keep up 🤣😎
Great to meet you and ride together on Tuesday. Let us know when you would like to re-ride the same loop, for hopefully a better experience and outcome based on your planned changes 😊
@@cotswoldmusings Reset, rebuild, regroup. We will go again 🙏
running standard 14/44 gearing proved useless for UK trails. I have now ordered a 13/48 combo with new EBC clutch and uprated springs and will update you once I test them out
@@TBSL71 great plan 👌
110 100 18 is another great option
Id keep that DEP silencer quiet in silencer terms, just what you want when off-roading IMO
Yeah, absolutely agree. I`ts got a throaty tone when pushed but not silly loud
Does your ttr leak fuel when you lean it over when stationary ?
obvs would leak out of the carb if dropped on side. Is that what you mean?
@@TBSL71 nah around 45 degrees - had the float checked and it seems ok - just found it a bit odd
@@blackpearlpastoral Hey mate. Ok, I was out on the trail yesterday, vid coming soon, and yes, you`re right, If I put the bike over 45 degrees to the left a breather pipe lets petrol out, doesn`t seem to happen to the right. strange indeed
Dude you own a couple of great bikes that aren't built The way they used to build them. 🎉 Just have fun and enjoy all the quabbles and maintenance
Yeah , they don`t and can`t build them like this. i do wonder how many modern bikes will still be out there in 30+ years time? not many i reckon
The yamaha is stronger Australians have flogged them to death. Your clearly haven't studdied or owned these bikes long. I have has a couple if both.. Ride an XT 600 you will fall un love! Both great bikes and very similar.
yeah not lived with them too long, the XR is definitely more playful. Back out on the TTR tomorrow for a day mixed lanes so will get a better idea of the bike

New vid on these bikes czcams.com/video/-gj0RJjepZ4/video.htmlsi=gOPoXip89STuHxJO
Keep both and do a restoration on the XR to keep it as a classic on your garage. The TTR is one of the best dual bikes ever made both the 250 and the 600
I`d love to keep the XR, It`s an awesome bike, but I have other bikes I want to own and try and can`t keep them all lol
Thanks everyone for watching this vid, I can understand why the disappointment, it`s like an advert for the big fight, and then no big fight lol. There was supposed to be the full vs battle straight after this one, however, the truth is, since making this vid, I have had issues with the TTR and rebuilt the engine, kinda twice. So to answer the first question of reliability and build quality, in this instance, the Honda definitely has it by a mile. Just bad luck? perhaps, but The Honda is a very high quality bike, and I`d say, the breakdowns aside, still slightly higher quality than the TTR. I have just had the TTR out in mid Wales at the weekend for the first ride off road so will do a vid asap. Many Thanks for your patience!
Pretty much told me nothing
There was supposed to be an immediate follow up vid but since this vid, I have had issues with the TTR and rebuilt the engine, I have just had it out for the first ride off road so will do a vid asap. Thanks

The TT will generally be a more reliable bike. Why no follow up video?

Why not just tell us the weight, why the secrecy?
Just Google the specs, but pretty sure the XR is lighter, no electric start on xr
both weighed in at 122kg, but as I said, the TTR only had 1/2 tank fuel so will weigh them again and give the actual wet weights. Cheers
Waiting on the video
