Remove and replace a faulty furnace blower motor
The blower on our furnace failed while we were out of town (of course) which caused the Air Conditioning to do the AC equivalent of overheating.. which is.. overcooling? Basically the coil in the furnace that the air blows across to cool down before distributing through the house wasn't getting warmed up enough by the air passing over it, so it turned into a massive block of ice.
I turned everything off to let it thaw, but after that the furnace blower would barely turn. I was able to find a direct replacement on Amazon - this video details the steps to disassemble the furnace, remove the fan assembly, pull the blower motor and re-assemble it all.
Total cost for my system replacement was under $350 - much cheaper than calling in for a repair. My system is over 20 years old, I'm budgeting for a replacement but this should keep us running for a while.
Parts used:
ClimaTek replacement blower: a.co/d/aXynJoj
Upgraded capacitor: a.co/d/09QNTZC
As always - do your research and trust your judgement before attempting any of the methods shown in my videos. This is a gas-fired appliance, go slowly and take your time. Make sure to follow all safety protocols and if you're not comfortable approaching this project, definitely consult with a professional

Replacing and Upgrading the DeLorean Fuel Pump with a Modern GM Fuel Pump
zhlédnutí 305Před 2 měsíci
No more fumes, no more fuel smell, no more leaking gas tank.. upgraded the poorly designed 80's era DeLorean fuel pump with a modern GM fuel pump. Straight forward DIY install, easy to do and not overly complicated. I highly recommend Chris Miles at 88miles parts - his kit was very well thought out and very straight forward (and he's a stand up guy who is very generous with his time and knowled...
Removing the fender-mounted antenna and capping the hole without removing the fender

My car is a late 1981 model which means it has the grooves in the hood but no gas flap.. it also means I have the horrible fixed-position fender-mounted black antenna. It's ugly and annoying and now, GONE! Removed it and covered the hole with DeloreanGo's Stainless Antenna Hole Blanking Plug (www.deloreango.com/us/aerial-hole-blanking-plug.html) $13 solution to an ugly problem. Gotta love it! A...
Upgrading the DeLorean Tail Lights and Flashers to LED

Definitely a worthy update - replaced the dim incandescent tail lights with LED bulbs - including the turn signals... which required upgrading the Signal Flasher Relay which is in a very tricky place to reach. As always - I am not a professional, please consult whatever documentation or professionals that you you have access to before attempting any of the modifications or processes described i...

Did you have any issues swapping from Halogen to LED, do you have to add anything else besides just swapping out the bulbs?
No issues, straight swap for low and high beams. Still running strong
Did you park on a slight incline to burp the system or squeeze any of the radiator hoses?
Hey DIY Dad. As a Dad myself living in the diy world, your videos are amazing. One of the best visually and verbally in installations. SUBSCRIBED! FYI after my successful install I agree about the amount of airflow, certainly less than expected. I didn’t have a wobble but wish there was more air. Again, brilliant video!
I appreciate the feedback (and not only because it was positive 🤣)
I’d hate to be your roofer. That’s some weird architecture.
It’s a very unique roof.. 🤣 ..Really strange to walk on, like they were just being complicated because they could
👍 awesome
Took me 40 minutes from start to finish and I’ve never done one before in my life!
And saved you a ton of money!
Hi! Just a clarifying question since you didn't show your updated wiring configuration... Did the Dig Quad allow you to eliminate one of the power supplies from your setup?
Yep! It dropped it down to a single power supply and I was able to reduce the box size to a smaller enclosure
I'm trying to install one of these to a friend's f3t...what luggage rack mount did you use...they don't actually make one for the f3t
I used a Baker Built Wings luggage rack and the generic mounting plate as I remember
Do you have any idea where i could buy or obtain a vcim?
eBay is probably your best bet - doesn’t have to be out of a Volt - you’ll lose Onstar functionality but everything else is pretty cross-platform with other GM products of that year
U could just remove the air fileter housing
Dude with all the new led lights coming out, there is NO REASON for all that garbage!
The Tech has come a long way in the last two years
this electric mower is a game changer for me. its amazing! - from a guy whos got only a 1- working arm & leg!
How dose it do for keeping water out I got my truck used and it’s got a different cover it rolls up like a industrial fire door, but a lot of water makes its way in down the sides so it doesn’t do very good at keeping water out.
Mine leaks a little at the tailgate but seems pretty tight everywhere else. The problem at the gate I think is caused by water pooling on top of the closed gate due to the shape of the cap and then seeping under from there
@@AskDIYDad perfect thank you I have the same problem at the tailgate I can deal with that as long as the rest stays dry thank you.
Hey, DIY DAD! Thanks for the video! I'm getting a Dodge RAM 2015 truck for my first vehicle, and would love to install carplay on it! Do you by chance remember where you purchased the screen/kit and possibly the name of it? It would be be so helpful!!
The company I bought from shut down during Covid. Infotainment.com sells them but they’re expensive. I’d look into standalone options - they’ve gotten pretty good over the last year or two.. unfortunately means an extra screen though
This video was very helpful. The thing I did different after hearing how you attached the fan blades I did that on the workbench. Way easier than doing overhead. Thanks for the video.
I have exposed beams and thought maybe that would be too difficult because of the them.. glad it was helpful!!
Auto designers should be made to work on the stupid designs they come up with. GM has lost all respect with me it is a failing co.
Hard to disagree. Truth is they don’t expect people to work on them themselves and make a ton of money in service
I’m considering getting a Spyder. Can the tire be mounted on the rim at any tire shop?
If you remove the center hub tower, yes. I had mine mounted at a Discount Tire
@@AskDIYDad Thank you.
I have had my soyder up on my ramp in the garage for two weeks. Now, I'm a disabled veteran and can not figure out how to get the plastic skid plate off. I'm not sure if you check your messages, but i could reallybise your help Thanks. 2012 Can am rs-s SE5
I show that process from 45 seconds to 1:30 in the video. The biggest trick is the screw that’s hidden under the wind deflector, aside from that it should be a few body pins and then it’s just held by two pressure clips (pulls right off) If you’re still stuck, I would try the forums at spyderlovers.com - lots of great owners there willing to help with detailed advice
Thank you! Made me save money!
The replacement parts don’t seem to last as long.. I just did this again (much faster the next time) - actually watched my own video to remember the process 🤣🙃
I had the previous owner of my 2013 Chevy Volt try to help me "open trunk" to allow dead 12 volt battery replacement. He's also President of local EV association, been on talk shows, owns 4 Teslas, etc. and he couldn't figure it out. I LOVE my Chevy Volt (100K miles on it) but tell me what Asian or European car company would provide owner with a "manual trunk release option" but require a very specialized tool to do so? And then make it such a pain in the a$s to swap out the $275 AGM 12 volt battery. Shame on you Chevy. Thank you for sharing this vid!!!!!
So can u come do mine lol u no how to do it better then me 😂
You can do it! Just go slow
Great hack! Thanks for sharing
Why do you not show loosening axel nut or what you used poor video
Nice
Batteries what time they lose full power that’s why it doesn’t go out strong anymore
The tent looks really nice. I would like to know where did you get the tent please? Thanks.
Menards - it was sold as a “patio enclosure”
Would sprinkling the work area with water while working control the dust? Or would it just make a mud mess?
Probably a bit of both..
Good job and the old motor did call for a 5uF cap on the label at 12:17. I keep a list of part numbers and take pictures of all DYI replaceable items on my HVAC system just in case I have to do something like this and I watch videos like this as a refresher since I don't do theses things everyday.
What’s with all the annoying background noise? Are you working on your car while parked at a soccer match?
My neighbor was throwing a massive party for their family.. kind of a family reunion with about a hundred people.. it was actually fairly tame considering the sheer number of people that were there 🤣 I would have shut the garage but it was hot that night..
I put the blades on, on the ground, so not to fight the screws above my head. But we also have the shakes in ours. It wants to rotate in the mount too. But I agree, definitely top 3 in most difficult fans I have put up over the years.
Having used it for a few months I’m tempted to replace it - it looks great but just doesn’t move much air
@@AskDIYDad I'm going to attempt to replace the fan blades with something more typical in shape and see if that changes flow.
@@M4A3 If that works for you please let me know! Only issue I can see if you go longer is making sure you keep the fans tilted so they don't hit the center light
@AskDIYDad I will definitely keep you updated. I think the blades are too rough, and too artsy, to move air efficiently.
@@M4A3 It's a solid theory! If just swapping to more standard blades would increase airflow I'd call that a win
It didn't look that bad...I guess thier different sizes available for sinking into concrete. Surely it shoots other kinds of bullets?
There are three different load strengths for it that are intended to be used for different materials, nails and surfaces
That's why I'm here guy.....kinda apprehensive.Being a girl and all. Especially when the manual said u have to pass a test to get certified 1st. (Which I misplaced temmperatily)
You can tune a piano, but you can't tune a fish
Great vid! I have a '12 RTL that surges occasionally, and this is just what I need.
Hmm Quindor has the most comprehensive led guides I've ever seen. He is reachable on Reddit so maybe just ask him to point you to his documentation if you need more info.
Push to start on a 14? Was this a mod??
Nope - I think it was standard on the 1500 Sport
Looks like they changed these kits since this video. I just bought one, and the LEDs are way too long to fit. I would be surprised if you responded, but do you still have these on your Spyder and how long are the LED strips? Mine are 12 1/4", and are about 2" too long to fit.
I don’t still own the Spyder unfortunately.. sold it when I bought my Delorean (only one toy vehicle at a time) I would email or call the TRICLED guys - they were great to work with and I’m sure they’d make that right. Maybe what you received was the wrong part and intended for a different use?
youtube needs a second like button so I can add one for the dad joke at the end 😆
There’s one at the end of each video 🤣

Great help. I’m in the same boat as you were, used and previous owner was shorter.

I have this mover but with a little less battery capacity. I bought mine used and have had it for 2 years. Working great so far.
sports car??
Not fast in stock trim, but not slow. It’s a lot of fun to drive and fits the definition
I wonder what this would look like purple with green accent and all leather interior and wherever you can put a carbon fibre and I want the wheels to why you didn’t just a little bit and I want the rims to have a green ring around and the window wipers will be green also and door handles and gas cap all green. I don’t know where carbon fibre would fit the dashboard maybe and then the steering wheel I wouldn’t want it to be slightly smaller or if not smaller have it not a perfect circle have it just a little bit of a square shape to it that would be dope. No offense, but this is cool with the video isn’t feeling very well. I want to see an extra 10 seconds, and I want to see it better filmed I didn’t show enough.
It’s a short.. time is limited
