Documenting our Journey from abandoned farm land to small producing farm.
Due to the delay in producing these videos, I use the Shorts function to provide live update on the work being accomplished that day on the Homestead.
Other activities:
Vlogs, once I get comfortable with the idea and provide them in a monthly basis switching back and forth from French to English.

Didn't think to delete this riveting and necessary content?
Well you and a few others are watching it so it must be just enough riveting and necessary...
My ex after we broke up^
does that infer that someone else did it or she broke up after you did it?
@@farminginthehighlands1205 she started letting anyone smash after we broke up
All that for 1 bale..
@@oOMXROo theres actually 2 bales one is at the furthest point if the field but thats like only 1 part of the field. But also my field needs phosphorus to produce a better yield, so I expect probably 10 round bales of production this year..
If it works it ain’t stupid 🤷♂️ lol
It did not work, in the next short it failed... and then I broke more things repeatedly, got any ideas?
I have that same wrench. It's a beast of a classic ratchet.
If I remember correctly it's my grandfathers (who came from the farm) so that wrench came full circle 😃
You haven't lived until you find you're sharing a patch of those with a Black Bear. Fun times!
@@lupindeweir thats why its behind a 6 foot fence, although its flimzy...
We call those black caps. I think their a form of wild raspberry. They dont get near as big as blackberries Excellent find. Great treat on a walk
they decided to grow in my garden pen, so I will try to prop them up!
I believe they’re black raspberries… when they get ripe, they’ll be a blackish-reddish or reddish-blackish color. Soooooo good! We used to have some on our property while I was growing up (along with the more annoying Himalayan blackberries, which love to take over everything and everywhere if you let them). But in any case, black raspberries make great preserves/jams and pies!
Rubus species or some sort for sure. Could be raspberry, blackberry, black raspberry, etc. Fruits are ripe when they easily pull off the bush & slightly soft 🌱. Also a fun tidbit: Rubus will typically only produce fruit on 2 year old canes. Flowers are usually self fertile & easily pollinated by insects. All the common species (in the states) are edible, although some aren’t the tastiest. Just be sure no one is spraying pesticide or other chemicals 👍.

Safe to consume?
@@rosegombos2120 Yes just a bit more sour then regular raspberries
Oh yeah.. the darker they are the sweeter. They are bitter as hell before they get dark
Those dont look like blackberries, they look like black rasberries.
@@mattwhite53 the leaves say raspberries.
Raspberries
Yes, and delicious
Dude your going the wrong way....damn
@@joshbaughman3532 oh ya I know lol, i just cant reach from the other side, the floor of the shed is to high for me to fit under the tractor. So I get to experience the worst way of tightening the drain plug.
It's called a drain plug.
@@scottwages517 thx, my short term memory is somewhat bad, thats why you may hear odd pauses in my sentences!
Lost lynch pin usually happens when I back up without lifting my mower deck and have lost a few when im cutting lots of small trees My current tractor 195? Ford 600 needs a draft control pin replaced to make the lift work so I wired the lynch pins to keep them in last season.
I think it's also because for a year I did not know I needed stabilizer bars for the rear attachments!
You know you can take the allen wrench out of that bulky set, right? Then use it and a pair of pliers or vice grips to tighten your screws.
@@factsnofiction217 I was not aware of that tip! I think I'm gonna list all the tips for working on the tractor.
Mf65?
yes a Massey Fergusson 65 (with cab) and bucket
The ASMR I didn’t know I needed 😂
got to capitalize on those "opportunities"
That's a nice ole 65. Ain't seen many with a cab. Would love one for my 65
The only problem with this cab is reaching for areas can be I will say difficult. I have to remove the cab to change the battery which I will be doing this weekend!
It’s amazing how strong mechanics are. And how they can get on a fastener that somebody who’s not a good mechanic can’t even get to. 👍🏻
Weld a nut on it
Air ratchet? Even harbor freight one.
you mean like a compressor gun?
And we dont have harbor freight in Canada I think..
Put a pipe on it
We call it leverage...or a 4 foot piece of pipe...ha.
The problem with that is the ground...I should have shown the lack of clearance
Next time put a small tire jack under the wrench. 👍🏽
oh that is so smart!
@@farminginthehighlands1205 hope it helps.
@@I_Ken_Do_That I did not post the rest yet! but you will see I found an awkward solution
@@farminginthehighlands1205 very nice
I’d be welding another nut onto it
Try air compressor to blow the dent out 😊
if you watch a little bit later in the shorts you will see we found a work around, but thx for the suggestion. I actually have an air compressor so I could have used that approach!
Get a nut and weld it on in the middle of the nut, and then it will protrude enough to get a socket on it.
That would be a good option if I knew anything about welding. It's a skill that is lacking in my tool box unfortunately!
@farminginthehighlands1205 Always a good time to learn! You can also ask around and see if anyone in the area is able to give you a hand and help you out.
@@WhiteYetiAK You are correct it's in my list of things I ''need'' to learn to have any chance of cost cutting once we live there and the farm is operational! I believe though that I can get a 1'' and 1/16 socket with thin walls, I will try that one first then your method, I know a few welders in my area!
@@farminginthehighlands1205 Good luck! I hope you get it!
@@WhiteYetiAK Ill probably do an update when I do get it off!
Lube it up once in awhile.
it was fine until it slipped and jammed, I probably should have shown the curve on it in stead of the face of it! But yes keeping it lubed would be better!
Ahh yes, I have the mother fer 64. Good machine
Your pregnant?
Thats a dipstick with oil level....
It could be on the push arm that connects the steering wheel to the steer bar or conected directly to the right steer knuckle
it's not anywhere near the steering wheel, I think its somehow in the nose of the tractor, but when I open the top, I can't see it, but when I added fluid to the reservoir I did notice a leak near the nose. If I get a better idea I will post it here. Thx for the suggestion!
Oh great! Burning a tire? Are you.....(fill in the blank folks!)😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Dropping off FOR burn pit, not dropping off IN the burn pit... those qualifiers are important. That tire you see is part of this tool (czcams.com/video/26iV7U06WCo/video.html) I don't want to burn it! it's a snow rake that is use sometime in the winter. This is simply a collection point. I can't reach my burn pit right now because my field is just so much drenched with water and it would create some ruts which would require repair. Next time just ask the question instead of assuming I am doing something inappropriate!
put some high heels on, maybe they'll think you're their queen
Congratulations, you are now a citizen of the empire. Do not resist.
I see a whole shwack of 38" 2x4's here 😂 god bless you for the wood shack tour 🙏🤣
Good luck!!
thx!
If you can find that one 38" 2x4 that you put in there 4 years ago, its not cluttered 😂 its just full of other good stuff 😂
oh no thats not one of the wood shed, those also need to be sorted. I guess I'll link a short to you showing all of them!
@@farminginthehighlands1205 i respect the clutter and support the "no wasting time moving stuff around" 🤣 ayo bet
@dabreadloaf here are the few piles that 38" 2x4 could be in czcams.com/users/shortswjR8IJrMsCk?si=I74lRsnZSS_qnvnq

If this is your garage I hate to see what the inside of your house is.
This is why this is a decluttering video, when you leave thing for too long this is what happens, but the inside of my house is great, thanks for asking.
The pile envy is real.
I hate it when I've dug deep and my leaf "gets stuck" too.
so I was reading your comments to my wife and then we listened to my shorts again and laugh so hard. She did mention that my cadence is completly different though so thats interesting. Keep finding them they were a good fun to read!
Barbecued wood chips are D-Lish' (but always seem to get stuck between a tooth and my gums).
Isn't it hard right to pick those out of your teeth, I may at some point explain my weird cadence in English, the pauses are so unnatural whether you know me or not! Even for me listening to this after the fact it's really strange!
So you're saying your dad *isn't* finding Nemo shun?
yes, exactly he cannot find any Nemo shun!
Great job brother keep up the hard work
thank you, will do
Should I laugh. You get tired with a chain saw that does most of the work for you....
The chainsaw is a tool that you have to respect, if you get tired while using it you stop. It's worth noting I'm dragging and piling logs by hand, that takes it out of me
Nicely built cab! Tractor looks great
Thx, I have to do a bit of maintenance on the external hydraulic system but It should be good
That was the worst video I’ve seen all day.
in what way? criticism is ok, but constructive criticism is much better!
Too short, bad camera work and not enough explanation
@@justinlong688 I am not sure you are aware, but a short is 15 seconds, it's not like one of my 5+ minute videos which exist on my channel. There is only so much I can say about cleaning a dipstick. I will admit that the camera lacks the desired effect but it's my phone and not one of my static GoPro's. .. But thanks for the criticism, I will try to at least figure out a way to better film with the phone. I would like to point out that this is a ''slice-of-life'' channel without any specific goals except to track my progress in transforming the land into a productive farm. You are not going to see a lot of production put into the videos because I have an outside job and a family to take care of first.
Put a light inside 😅😅😅
Im pretty thats a sure way to blow everything up! 😄
