The Australian Model Expo 2024
Welcome to the Australian Model Expo!
From its humble beginnings in the Arts and Crafts pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds, this incredible event has transformed into something truly spectacular!
Now held at the Sandown Entertainment Centre, the Expo has expanded to over 2000 square meters of sheer excitement!
Originally featuring just 200+ models, 5 or 6 traders, and a few participating clubs, the event has exploded in popularity. Today, it boasts:
Over 2000 models on display!
Up to 30 traders!
20 clubs and other displays!
All these participants come from across Australia, showcasing the amazing world of plastic scale modeling. But that's not all - we also welcome international visitors each year, making this a world-class event!
In this video, we’ll take you on a tour of the Expo, showcasing and filming the incredible models on display. Get ready to see detailed craftsmanship, creative designs, and the passion that drives the modeling community!

Great camera work! It really brought the models to the viewer with just enough time and sharpness. The models were World Class! Both inspiring and daunting . As someone just getting back into the hobby after many many years , it’s eye opening to see this art of detail. Love it!!

With the Tamiya Paints, how were you able to create a Wash and contrasts for your mini? Even after thinning them on a wet pallet i am still feeling like they’re too thick for the washes/contrasts from my experience, but I’m new to the hobby
Try paint thinner. I don't think water actually thins the paint enough. Also, I heard paint retarder helps slow the drying time so the brush strokes are less visible

Great vid! There were some very deserving models that didn't get awards though, not sure what the judges are basing the awards on some times
It happens all the time I think you would find most of those models had either no or poor references and the modeller can only blame themselves not the judges
