3D printing, CNC, Milling, Turning and general workshop activities:
This channel is all about experimenting, testing and making various machines, mechanisms, builds & restorations.
I have a background of 30 years+ in machining & manufacturing, watch & clock making so if you are new to all of this ... I suggest study this channel and other YT channels and take a practical course if possible to get hands on experience first.
So I have a lot of videos to upload. Currently uploading the development and operation of my custom 3D printer.
In 2019 to 2022 I designed and built a large CNC router (X 520mm,Y 600mm,Z 200mm) which is in reality more a like a CNC milling machine - now complete and currently testing.
This will produce high precision parts for my own projects.
Disclaimer: Please do not copy any of my machining practices - I have my own way of doing things which I do not recommend anyone follow without supervision.

V-Carving a large wood dial - Extra video - 21-22 May 2024
V-Carving a large wood dial - Extra video - The image for the dial came from web - but some of the decorations had been whited out - so i had to go pack into Inkscape and pattern/clone the design to the missing area - However it's difficult to obtain the same depth of cut or even the same pattern exactly due to the nature of how the software interprets lines each time to make it into a DXF file.

9 hours 40 minutes condensed down to 21 minutes - Testing out the max size of machine bed. The clock face is 500mm diameter and is just about the max size of job for this machine - The rpm is 24,000 and the feed rate (127mm/min) & rapid travel (1000mm/min on Y/2000mm/min on X&Z) is slow on this job to make sure the axis did not bind up on the ends of their travel - Everything went fine. The cut...

Drilling CNC spindle bracket location holes - 28 April 2024
zhlédnutí 281Před 21 dnem
Drilling CNC spindle bracket location holes to fit onto the Z axis plate. Perfect fit! I was going to machine the cast bracket as I was doubtful of its accuracy - However the amount of time to do this job with boring tool & truing up the vice on the mill would take a long time - and it possible to get the correct accuracy by just shimming the bracket on the base plate.

How NOT to make a Delrin replacement lead nut for mill - 02 May 2024 (Update)
zhlédnutí 139Před 21 dnem
Since I had a lot of backlash on my Y axis on the mill, I thought I would have a go at making a replacement Delrin lead nut - following others other who have attempted this before - Part 3 After all the efforts, I decided to delay changing over to a Delrin lead nut on the Y axis on my mill as I have reassembled old lead nut and with less backlash than before. I will probably change all the axis...

CNC machine homing & spindle operation demo using FluidNC 6X CNC controller - 02 May 2024

CNC machine homing & spindle operation demo - In this video I more or less got all the limit switches, spindle & spindle water cooling set up. The spindle is not currently connected to the CNC controller yet as this is not critical to get the machine operational. The two limit switches on the Y axis are not perfectly in sync yet but close. The controller is Fluidnc 6X CNC controller and I have ...

I don't understand. What's happening in this video.
This is the CNC machine I built - This is a test run (actually first run of this machine) My middle names are Herry Rowley. The video is sped up, and I added some music. Is that clear enough? 🤔
very clever! well worth the wait! orders will be coming in soon!
what size chuck is on your lathe?
It's a 5" chuck
I have a small Proxxon MF70 mill. This is equipped by the manufacture with Delrin/nylon lead screw nuts on all axes. No backlash at all!
I was not successful with making the Delrin lead nut this time .. will attempt again
LOL......another wanker using gloves on a machine.
Promo_SM
Oh god the sound of that
Brings back memories, the modern motors controllers have improved a lot
Thats the worst asmr video on yt :/
Is there any vibrations or much backlash when screw driven? Looks solid!
Minimal backlash as all the lead screw nuts are spring loaded against the lead screw ... there is some vibration .. but this is more due to speeds and feeds I think
whaaa GoodWork
No part cooling?
The fan is behind, on the opposite side - it cannot be seen in this video
electroplate with copper to remove bacteria
silver ?? better ?
@@strolantic2930 anything electroplatable
@@Jkauppa silver have antibacteria propriety's ^^
@@strolantic2930 well also 3d printed metal-coated copper/silver food-ware, spoons etc
@@strolantic2930 yes so does copper, and its cheaper easier to come by, like water pipes
XD
i think you have a little trouble Z ins't too nearly of the surface ?? i have this type of issue if i take ironing mode with too much speed and the head is not at the good temp for fusioning surface and material im french excuse my english is not quite perfect
Thanks for this .. Some adjustments needed in settings to make more smooth movement and get rid of the "vibration" sound. Also, I think I was printing at layer increments or 0.1mm or 0.15mm
What a Your using mother bord
Ramps 1.4 with Arduino Mega 2560 inserted into it. The firmware on the Arduino is Marlin .. There are much more advanced boards, but this is the cheapest way.
15:00 i just realised, those are all parts that i designed! the yellow is PETG (higher temperature, doesn't warp at at 60C, goes up to 110C before warping)
12:40 we worked out that X and Y are swapped - so many little things to take care of
Still using Ramps on that printer ... will be getting it to work again after over one year in storage!
08:00 we established that the marlin firmware was set to an offset (100,100) for the centre, 08:50 we set it to (0,0)
holy cow, 6 years ago. what's hilarious is that we did this entirely remotely, over skype, doing screen-share, and by ssh'ing in remotely to your laptop, from another country!
