Not Naked And Afraid, Just Determined
I am the 1st person to reach this lake after 59 Yrs. Starlight Lake! This was the most challenging routes I have ever taken. I tried to keep the video entertaining by shortening clips. I will release a lot more extra footage later as I explain in detail a lot more things about my trip & how I do things. Thank you so much for following me on these trips. I hope this channel takes off to where I can do this a lot more. Please share it with anyone you may know who is into things like this. MUCH appreciated!

    • @MichealGrabosch
      @MichealGrabosch Před 7 dny

      I have bounced around the idea of being a guide for a while as i have been asked a lot. There are a lot of factors. Mostly because the trips I take are my vacation time from my jobs. I get 7 + weeks a year but i do not live near bwca. I live 9 hrs south in iowa. So if someone one day really wanted to make a go of it, I would love to do it all as a guide for them over the top. Setting up camp, porting gear, showing all tips from my years, taking them where they want, do what they want to do, chop wood, start fires, cook meals, provide the canoe, food and gear etc etc. But it would have to be worth my time due to it not being my regular job* I am a finish trim carpenter and work at ups. So there would have to be a lot of back and forth conversations about it.

But I also convert this canoe from a tandem into a solo because I go on such long trips. It's a huge benefit to having more space. It is a very deep canoe.

I'm always amazed at the size and quantity of fish that you catch but I really appreciate your honesty when you said there are times you never catch a fish all day. It brings us back to reality as in most videos we only see the catch, after catch, after catch and that's what is expected when we get there, which is not always the case. The experience of the pike grabbing your walleye and you were able to land it is a once in a lifetime event for most people. That was amazing to watch!! Thank you so much! I started making these for my grandma to see. But she passed away a couple of years ago. Didn't know if I should keep putting in all the effort editing 100+hrs of footage. Seeing some feedback from you and others helps a lot! It's nothing compared to my grams smile and laugh, though ☺️

    Great fish, I only have one suggestion please don’t get angry with me for it, but I think you should wear a PFD especially soloing.

      @@michaelmcsweeney9742 I totally understand. I wear mine when crossing the middle of lakes or in bad weather. I know it'd be wise to wear it all the time. I may get to doing that as I age a bit more. I'm turning 40 in a couple months

    It looks like several of the mornings were quite foggy. Or was that due to a fire? How do you keep your canoe next to you when you are on rocks? I do not see any lines. Looking forward to seeing your next video. And I really enjoy listening to your tips, tricks and safety information.

    • @MichealGrabosch

      @@terrygrabosch4882 no fires. Just fog this trip. Had a lot of hail I'll post in my next video. I usually do have a green paranoid wrapped around my feet. Because YES, if that canoe had ever gotten away from me, with where I was, that could be the end. I would have to swim to shore fighting hypothermia and follow the bank till I find my canoe through thick cover. Then paddle back to camp.
