My reaction to the cinematic was pretty much the same as yours except I dropped a lot more "f" bombs. Yes they are making this for their new "modern audience", for the some older fans who are just clinging to their cope "well hopefully the story will be good", or like you said for kids. This is why they went for the more Disney cartoon look and it's going to be like a Marvel movie with the characters making their lame and bad jokes or quips when the world is ending. This also goes for the dumbed down rpg mechanics and gameplay and make Dragon Age more like Mass Effect. Don't get me wrong loved the ME trilogy but the tactical combat is what separated Dragon Age from ME. I also think that agency and control you had over the companions in the DA series brought you even closer to your companions because you actually care about what they are doing and want to make sure they don't die. I think this is the biggest thing that both Bioware and the fans who are strictly playing for the story, failed to realize.

Don’t be fooled, because some game journalists will give this great reviews on release. I’ll wait for content creators to play through and see how mediocre it is. I feel exactly as I did when Saints Row was released, utterly gutted and now mourning a loss with regards a beloved series! Dramatic I know, but so many series have been laid to rest. There is no Dragon Age feel from it. Goofy characters, ugly companions and you can date every one who wants that its so boring. A One thing to add is they are not showing anything awesome because there is nothing amazing in the game.
