    I've eaten rabbit when I've been very hungry. I mean, not eaten a decent meal in days, sort of hungry. Survival situation hungry. Rabit is great as part of a stew with plenty of vegetables and some potatoes. On its own, it just makes you more hungry, and that's a nightmare if you're in dire need. It's an od feeling having a belly full of meat, but your body is telling you you haven't eaten anything. You're better off going for squirrel or wood pigeon if you're hungry, and yeah, sure, goose or hare if you can get it. Although, I'm not sure if you can legally hunt hare or goose with an air rifle in this country (UK), even with permission. I think you need to use something bigger. I might be wrong there. Feel free to correct me.

      I heard the trappers of old could starve nutritionally if they tried to survive a winter on rabbit alone.

    I recently got this HW57, because of the underlever pop up loading system and the 1/2 unf for a moderator. I find it very twangy and if you load up on a slope the pellet can drop out, this can cause a dry fire occurance. Also with a the moderator added, the overall length seems excessive. My go to springer is the HW99s,, solid but not too heavy. I have a HW100TK, because it was my first modern air rifle, If I were advising a newbie, I would say HW99s and with a decent side focusing scope they mght not bother with anything else of the same calibre.

    • @mannaztribe
      @mannaztribe Před 23 dny

      The trick is try before you buy I suppose mate. Definitely right about the pellet dropping out. Once you know it can happen, I just make sure I tilt rifle forwards when loading.

    • @harryzero1566
      @harryzero1566 Před 23 dny

      @@mannaztribe also I wouldn't pick this model if I were shooting at night (using infrared) for the same reason of fiddly loading, I did have HW97 loading was fine but found the rifle too heavy.

    • @mannaztribe
      @mannaztribe Před 23 dny

      @@harryzero1566 I think though, as a solid, dependable, 'survival-type' weapon in the uk, a no-frills spring air rifle is good. Back when supermarket shelves went bare a few years ago, a rabbit for the pot was an option.

    • @harryzero1566
      @harryzero1566 Před 23 dny

      @@mannaztribe that's why I reckon the HW99s is the best option, it's such good value that for what you might get for it second hand you would have to be desparate.

    Our Gods are still here. We’re prodded by them everywhere and everyday but most don’t notice….. I’m now 66 years old and became aware (awakened?) to them over thirty years ago, and it was this book that did it! I found it in an antique book shop at the back of ChinaTown in London, and it has been my prized possession ever since (still with the dust jacket intact). Although my (our) native faith is a reconstructed one, it never the less is as valid as any other. As the years pass I add to my knowledge and discard other bits that don’t quite resonate. I know my Gods. They know me. Good luck on your path (I’ve subscribed as I find your channel very easy to watch and listen to!)

    Hunting success with an air rifle comes from learning marksmanship and fieldcraft ie. being responsible and humane,but most of all not listening to other shooter’s ego about taking long shots etc.

    • @wildkampfer
      @wildkampfer Před měsícem

      Agreed. Regarding long shots, that shouldn't be necessary if your field craft is good. All my shots are taken around 25 to 35 yards.

      @@wildkampfer 👍 I respect that. l used to stalk and ambush rabbits using an HW35 using open sights,maximum range about 25 yards but usually 15-20 yards. 35 yrd max with springer is very sensible,even then it depends on wind etc.

    I’ve had a Belstaff for 8 years now , it’s battered but looks better as it gets older . I’d have another . They are very expensive being British made but you pay for that and they also carry out repairs on their garments . I was flush at the time so invested in one . The more years I have it brings down the costs of it every year .
