I know I've seen at least one U-I logo that credited Mr. Muhl as "Ed" rather than "Edward," but damned if I remember what picture it was on. Any chance you could find it?

The Spartacus variant had nearly the same colours from the 1990 logo because of the light blue water, golden continents and the Yellow words.

How was the globe made in the logo you ask? Well, you see, they used a model of the earth and used stop motion to make it look like the earth is spinning.

Why didn't Universal make a CinemaScope cartoon or any other widescreen format at least?
