Visiting Utah's San Rafael Swell
Thanks to a good friend with a fun Side X Side, I'm finally back after another adventure. This time to an area I've wanted to visit but never known where to go and what to see. In basically two short days my friend takes me to a couple of the highlights to whet my appetite for more. Come along as we visit a couple of Arches, some old mines and some beautiful Utah geography,

Ever since I got my new cell phone, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, with it's 200 megapixel camera I've wanted to put it up against a real camera. The Autumn colors of northern Utah gave me the perfect opportunity for a shoot from the hip UNscientific comparison. In this video you'll get some awesome drone views of the mountains of Northern Utah in full Autumn bloom AND a look at the Galaxy S23 1...

In this episode we go off the ship and visit the ports of call along the way, and also wrap up our review of the Scootaround scooter rental company and the scooter we got for my wife. We visited Labadee, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Charlotte Amolie, US VI and finally Perfect Day at Coco Cay. We did some swimming, relaxing and snorkel...
Install & Review of Lasfit Floor Mats for 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
zhlédnutí 2KPřed rokem
I purchased at full retail a complete set of Lasfit mats for my new Jeep Grand Cherokee L. This video is about installing and my thoughts on them. They are quite a bit less expensive than the famous WeatherTech line, but are they as good, or even close. I don't have the WeatherTech mats to compare, but I'll try to give you a pretty in depth look at the Lasfit so you have an honest & unbiased view.
Cruise as Seniors Part 4

This is the forth in a series of five videos that discusses the issues that seniors may want to think about as they consider and/or plan for a cruise. In this one I show some of the activities and entertainment available on our cruise, keeping in mind that every cruise line and every ship will be different. As the title says, this is the second video about our cruise, with an emphasis on Senior citizens and cruising. In this video I share some of the different parts of the Oasis of the Seas and how they play into most cruisers' life at sea. There will be a part 3 and probably a part 4, so stay tuned. Cruise As Seniors Part 1

Recently my wife and I went on our first Cruise in over 5 years, and since my wife has had several medical issues since our last one, including Covid, I thought I'd talk about the particular issues that Seniors might run into. So though this is mainly a record of our cruise in December 2022, it's also a vlog about cruising for seniors. This is part 1 and deals with preparing for and getting to ...

My poor sad drone has been tucked away in the bottom drawer way too long and so when my friend Norm said he'd like to go out and watch me fly my drone, and I looked up in the mountains and saw that we were having the best colors in Utah in I don't know how many Autumns, I said "Let's go". This video is the edited results of an afternoon in the mountains east of Ogden, Utah on October 14, 2022 w...
Insta360 X3 for the Old Guy
zhlédnutí 261Před rokem
360 camera's keep getting more interesting as they get better. Just in time for a photo trip with friends and then a Cruise with family I picked up my first true 360 camera in the form of the Insta360 X3. This post is a quick intro and a few tests as I get ready for some (hopefully) fun video in the future.
Transfer Film to Digital Comparison
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed rokem
Do you have old film you want to get digitized posterity? This video is about my experience from DIY from film to VHS in 1988 then to digital in 2022, and then two different commercial services going directly from Super 8mm film to digital MP4. I used Legacy Box and compare it to Larsen Digital Services. There is a clear difference in both quality and cost. Check it out.
Checking out the Artcise Carbon Fiber Tripod CS80C

Trying to find a good value Carbon Fiber Tripod I ran across this one and decided to give it a try. Initial impressions are pretty good. Is it the best thing on the market? Probably not, but does it appear to be a good value? Probably. I like the height, the light weight, the strength and many of the features. Check out the video and see if it's a good fit for you.

Thanks for the video. It looks great. How is it after more than one year?
I have to admit that I'm not a heavy duty user. It sits in my office in the bag quite a bit, but . . . I used it yesterday or the day before and still like it as much as day one.
Lift kit for the Jeep kl?
Great video. Thank you! But one questions still remains - which ball do you install in this receiver?
Depends on what you are towing. Different size balls fit different size trailers. Remember though that the towing capacity of the Trailhawk without the towing kit from the manufacturer is 2000 lbs.
Scott, so great to see and hear from you! I alway enjoy a Law adventure, complete with drone and Insta360 coverage. Keep on ……..
Nice. I like the way you compared. However, I always feel that you should never send anything in a box that maybe lost. Never to be replaced. I provide a local service here in Salem Oregon. I must tell you that I have redone many reels of 8mm film from other companies. I feel the personal one on one service like you got from Larson is the best. Thanks for your effort of sharing your experience with all of us here on YT.
Thanks, I'll probably be driving through Salem once or twice in the next couple weeks as I head out to the Coast as I have family in Corvallis and Waldport.
@@ScottLawPhotography Pops Digital World 3945 Rich Drive NE 97305. Most all the 8mm from Legacy Box are dark. I had a customer with the same problem as you. Tedd
Scott, it’s been awhile since you have uploaded. Hope you and the family are well, and still taking great pictures.
Thanks. Too many irons in the fire, especially for an old guy. But we're good. Thanks again.
I appreciate that you went to the trouble to make this video sharing your experience! I'm in a similar conundrum (Super8 transferred to VHS around the same year as yours but want to know if I can get better video/sound quality out of any of them). Loved your suggestion to look through film and be very selective. That helps a lot. Now I need to find a way to view them without owning a Super8 Sound projector or using a lightbox (thus handling the film more).
Great comparison. Thanks so much! Helps those of us considering transfer houses.
I happen to know World’s oldest vlogger and he is just as down to earth and relatable as his videos portray.
Thanks for the video! Great trick.
Noce colors
Scott, great shots as always. I thought the Northeast had best foliage, but Utah colors were strong.
Awesome video I love going up. That's the first time I've ever seen Francis peak at that angle.
You forgot to show any of the details of the tripod...Great review but how does it look like?
I am enjoying this. Good info and very clever
Great review! It is nice to see it set up outside so I can get an idea how rigid it is. Lighter is always better for things you have to lift, no matter how old you are!
Nice video. If you live in a warm area a couple hours on your driveway in the sun will make them all nice and flat where they should be flat. I wish you could just buy that last piece alone.
I installed these on my wife’s GC-L and we love them.
Best factory butte videos on youtube
Will this hitch receiver let me pull 2 jet skis?
On a trailer?
Without the Trailer Tow package your Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk has a pulling capacity of 2000 lbs. So if the jet ski's plus the trailer are below 2000 lbs you should be fine according to the specs that I've read. But you should check for yourself, as I'm not responsible for this information.
Your jeeps Vin number is stamped under the VIN flap that's all.
I suspected it was probably something like that since it says VIN. Thanks.
Wow reminds me of my mission, great job on the video quality and putting it together, tell Jeanne I’m praying for her love ya
Scott, great narrative and walk thru your cruise experience. Spending time traveling with family is always the greatest.
Good stuff well photographed. Great control of exposure and composition while taking advantage of aerial points of view.
Nice new ride! Now you can get mud on your shoes out taking photos/video.
Don’t know why comment didn’t post but saw your email. Thanks, think I know where to turn in. BLM in Hanksville told me no driving in and that we had to hike in from UT-24. ? We’ll see! My new Air 2 S needs to capture some awesome footage. 😀😀😀👍👍👍
Never heard you can't drive in. There are no signs saying that. Easier to get forgiveness than permission.
You can drive along coal mine road. Unless there's been changes, the badlands themselves in the vicinity of Factory Butte are or were off-limits to motorized vehicles because of a rare plant. Now, if the plant cannot be located, or turns out not to be that rare, BLM might open up motorized traffic which is unfortunate since it already is more rutted than I remember it. BLM expressely allows ORV play at "swing arm city" on the southeastern flank of North Caineville Mesa.
@@thomasmaughan4798 BLM specifically told that we had to hike in and motorized driving was unauthorized in addition to not crossing private property. We’ll double check when we’re over there next month. Thanks for the input!😀👍
I am a happy first time visitor to your World's Oldest Vlogger channel. Like you and your friends, I am an older (72 yr old) fellow who loves Milky Way photography above remote and beautiful landscapes. I have been all over the desert SW, including hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon three times and to Angel's Landing. Last August, my trip took me to the Moulton Barns in Grand Teton National Park for Milky Way images. I also captured Old Faithful under the stars. My next tri will be in October to capture the annular eclipse in Bisti Badlands or Valley of Dreams in New Mexico. I hope to see you one day while we happen to be in the same location under clear and dark skies. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I subscribed so I can see more.
Thanks for stopping by. Be sure and say hi, if you do see me around. It would be great to meet another fellow senior photog.
Thanks for sharing your fun time. Speedy recovery to the Mrs.
Thanks, Scott. I'm now a subscriber to you channel! About 20 years ago, i copied all of my 75 rolls of Super 8 film to MiniDV tape using a projector, a 45 degree prism and my trusty Canon GL1 video camera. I recently purchased a 1080P digital convertor and I will let you know how that goes. .
Great info here and well done too. I'm going to study this again and then try it out with a mock loss setup, where I know where the drone is. Good that you talked about the flight log too. Valuable info there, like coordinates of longitude and latitude. Marc T
Great images! Our first experience with wild horses was last fall over here in southwestern Colorado. We’re looking forward to getting back to them after the snow and mud subsides. Great video and thanks for sharing!😀👍
Nice footage. I found when your Factory Butte video came up as we were just over there. I’m not sure you’re the oldest. My wife says my age is unlisted. Our interests are the same as I started my drone adventures with the Mini and am getting ready to step up to something more advanced. Maybe Air 2 S and waiting to see what DJI comes out with this spring. Keep on keeping on to grow younger!😀👍
I do get challenged on that once in a while, and maybe deservedly so, but it makes it easy to remember.
I love the Oasis!! Loved seeing your perspective!! glad you had a great time! 🥳
Your videos keep getting better and better
😊 outstanding
Thanks for sharing! You had some great light and some wonderful one last shots.😀👍
Awesome video! This is just what I was looking for. :)
0:12 which tripod is that?
Loveliest colours. Thanks for posting.
Scott, great video and narrative. I was wondering what gear you brought in addition to the 360 camera, but I got a glimpse at the end. How do you decide what to lug along for the trip?
Thanks for watching and for your comments. When going on a trip where I have to fly and really watch my weight I take only the Fujifilm mirrorless, in this case I had my X-T4 and the X-T20. I use the X-T20 mostly for time lapse. I brought two extra lenses for the X-T4 (They also fit the X-T20) but never took either one out of the bag. I did take a Weebil 2 Gimbal, which I got a few months ago but have not used much and learned that I still need to learn a lot about using it. Quite a bit of my gimbal video was unusable (my fault for not knowing what the heck I was doing). To be honest, I was pretty lazy and so I just grabbed the Insta360 X3 and was on the run. You probably didn't notice but there was even a little footage from the Insta360 Go 2.
Looking at a Gimbal too. Takes time to learn all the new gear. I usually get real lazy and go with my GoPro.
I enjoyed this thank you. I hope it was a wonderful trip.
Like your review for a lot of reasons. I too bought the TACTIC model you have. I did get the extra props in my kit. I had tried 3 other drones, none would hook up to blue tooth, Tactic promised theirs would and it did. However since getting a new phone it will not hook up to blue tooth. The no extra battery is an issue, they said they would be available at some point, but that point is not here yet.. Your correct if they are building drones, they need batteries, so why not have extra batteries in stock. would make sense to me. Overall it's not a bad starter drone, would love to have a really nice one but on a fixed income, that's probably out of the picture for now. Look forward to more of your video's. By the way I soon will be 84, to old to play with drone? I don't think so
See if you can find a used DJI Mini. You'll be amazed at how much easier they are to fly and the photos and video you can get. Enjoy and good luck.
Thank you for sharing with us
I just found your vlog and truly enjoyed it. Love your easy going presentation and look forward to many more! 🚢⚓
This looks awesome! I hope you had a great time!
Very clever intro. ***** Stars
Thanks for the 3 *** now I've got to get busy to see if I can make it to 5.😂
Hope you had a great time and look forward to your follow-up series. We are frequent cruisers, albeit with another cruise line, NCL. I'm sure we all have stories about booking, boarding, parking, etc. We've been blessed to have very few issues over the years, but generally it's parking. We live in FL, so we have always driven to the various ports (Miami, Tampa, Cape Canaveral). Well, when we went to Alaska, we did fly into Seattle :)
Scott, some great creative work with the side by side and 360 video. You have a wonderful family, I know you had a great time.
The drone is junk it was all a lie to get your money battery is junk don't fly in light wind not worth the time to put it together the one I bought flew about 2 minutes then fell to the ground takes about a hour to charge battery WARNING don't throw your money away on this trash oh never could get the video to work
Visiting and shooting video of these wild horses is big on my bucket list. I understanmd we live in close proximity to some of the best areas for these kinds of things. Aren't we lucky! Well done. I loved the first segment, and your edits while loading your car. Keep up the good work.
