There’s an Old, Old Path - CCS 244 - The Beyond the Walls Choir
CCS 244 - There’s an Old, Old Path
There’s an old, old path
where the sun shines through
life’s dark storm clouds from
its home of blue,
in this old, old path
made strangely sweet
by the touch divine
of his blessed feet.
Find the old, old path;
’twill be ever new,
for the Savior walks
all the way with you,
In this old, old path
are my friends most dear,
and I walk with them,
with the angels near,
’Tis an old, old path,
shadowed vales between,
yet I fearless walk
with the Nazarene,

It is clear that it is not "Pauline" Christianity that Paul was preaching. He made it explicitly clear in the same Letter to the Galatians Chapter 1:18-2:2, on the first to meet with Peter/Cephas and James the brother of Jesus, and on the second to meet with the Council of Jerusalem 14 years later to confirm that the Gospel he was preaching was the same Gospel theologically and doctrinally. "I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain." gal 2:2. Why would anybody brand the gospel and the exposition of the gospel by Paul as Pauline Christianity as if Paul invented it. The Apostles who received the detailed explanation and exposition of the gospel from the mouth of the risen Lord Jesus For 40 days from His resurrection to His ascension into Heaven had attested to the Gospel revealed to Paul in the 3 years of exile into Arabia after his road to Damascus encounter as the same. That congruency of the Gospels would have been confirmation of the validity and genuineness of Paul's encounter and appointment by God as an apostle if Jesus Christ. That it was Paul that so brilliantly articulated the gospel and the theological doctrines simply reflected his learned pedigree, not the theological foundations that was expounded and for the theists, it reflects the wisdom of God in choosing Paul as His apostle.

Thank you. When you use the word "churches", it appears as if there were physical locations; I don't know when the first actual physical churches were built, and the Roman concept of civil locations of government were parts of their system thus diocese & classes of bishops, cardinals, etc., a much later form of organization based on the Roman model of civic rule, but I suspect the "churches" Paul established & wrote letters or the Jerusalem "church", were actually held in individual's homes. And the "home" in antiquity, the Greek oecoi (sp) origin of our word, economics, was the total domain of women. (And I suspect supporters of Jesus financially) such as Lydia successful businesswoman in dyed cloth... It is women in the home, opening up to believers, cooking the meals, singing hymns, prayers, and called, "deacons", was the actual beginning of the Christian "churches". Where gentiles, particularly Greek homes, where HESTIA of the hearth and sometimes HERMES (Mercury) were standard protectors, guardians, guides, and celebrated gods of the "home", with no great temples but nevertheless, extremely important gods, and reason for Marion worship perhaps. This important beginning of the earliest " churches" is an important one, I think. The important role of women that in this patriarchal time, would be taken over by men, such as the structures of church hierarchy developed later. Yet this feminine input and voice, remains a strong part and keeps returning in mysterious ways, such as the gnostic gospels, Marion apparitions such as Fatima, Mary as the mother of God, myths of the Magdalene, even to the present in the insanely best seller, "The Davinci Code"... Also, instead of a negative, Christianity's diversity and challenges in dealing with a new "eastern" influences (Dionysus comes to mind, lol), actually led to that wonderful Greek idea of DEBATE. The true meaning of LOGOS (logic), communication, language, politics (in the first democracy Athens...), Reason, argument, it's all about a process- DEBATE. (And part of a "trinity" of concepts in Greek thought: LOGOS (reason); ETHOS (ethics, morals), and PATHOS (emotions, ecstasy, theatre, chaos...). ...Something the other two monotheistic religions more "Eastern" in flavor, much less debate, controversy, and differences... Because OBEDIENCE, not discussion, democracy, freedom, etc., rules their agenda... Basically, slavery. It's said: Western Civilization is like a Family, whose Father is Greek; whose Mother is Hebrew, and they packed up the Family and moved to Rome!

Christ died once-- one time. If transubstantial communion is a repetition of this, it's heresy. "Do this in remembrance of me" doesn't mean the sacrifice is done in repetition every Mass. Right?

The lecturer missed a lot of important stuff, still showing Cynics in mostly unfavourable light. Three examples: Ascetism was more than 'denying', it was actually exercising, making sure their body was really strong - Diogenes took part in games with some success. Self-reliance was also an economic policy, Cynics stressed how you personal choice for food would reduce need for imports of food from abroad, which would also affect state politics, i.e. they were not that self-centred. Thirdly, they were not just beggars, they mostly worked menial work in the city (like helpers at marketplace) - this was differentiating them from other, ritch land-owning, slave-holding philosophers at the time.

What happened with the Kirtland Temple seems like it was more important money and it seems that whoever has it, has more advantage. I share with you your mourn and I also share your devotion. It 's close the time when money shall have no more power than dried weeds. Aquinas is full of beans and will lead you astray, into a life of darkness and dryness "By their fruits you will know them" Aquinas is at home in our pagan world, and at home in the lies of communist academia This was his goal, and he did it well to make JESUS and the life of SPIRIT seem dry and meaningless Combining pagan philosophers- and morphing them with LORD JESUS- makes no sense logically it pollutes the WORD of GOD This is not to say that LORD JESUS is outside logic and reason pagan philosophers taught that FAITH is lesser than REASON, and Aquinas taught it was separate as well Because they want you to think that Faith is not based on anything concrete when their rhetoric is all based on selling nothingness as light, tricking you to think darkness is actually light There is no man in history who has grown in SPIRIT from the teachings of this worldly man Pagan philosophers are in darkness and therefore have no access to REASON at all It is all rhetoric, and has nothing to do with logic and proofs at all it is merely selling poison for you to eat, and making you think it is wonderful at the same time, as you spoon it up Taking the life of SPIRIT from you, and giving you darkness instead Aquinas was from money, and worked for worldly interests to make the Catholic Church seem dry He was for the death penalty which is against the explicit teaching of JESUS Who is he to change a teaching of LORD JESUS? He taught that GOD has no emotions, because emotions like anger are beneath GOD This is a heresy, because the WORD of GOD shows how much emotion the FATHER has HE is our loving FATHER and will cry for us when we sin ...and JESUS cried many times for us in pain as well If JESUS had emotions and showed them many times, then HE was not GOD and this is what Aquinas sells you, if you believe him If GOD has no emotion, and you cannot act on HIM at all, then HE does not care what you do at all and this is the conclusion that Aquinas wants you to come to This is RHETORIC, using lies and half truths to lead you to a logical conclusion that is negative for you as a man or woman This is so called philosophy too they lead you in the wrong direction using les, misdirection is such an important Satanic ploy, and so if you complete their lies using logic, you logically conclude that GOD CANNOT LOVE ME and if the premise is true, that you can do nothing to GOD emotionally, then you are correct in this conclusion ...and then you give up on the life of SPIRIT totally, as what happens in colleges all around the world, the fruits of liars like Aquinas destroying the lives and souls of young people for many hundreds of years now GOD has all emotions, like we do, as we are made in HIS image, this is the TRUTH All His emotions are pure and righteous, and even HIS RAGE is something without flaws in it Yo do not want to give up on GODs love, and then get HIS RAGE at your judgment GOD has done everything HE can do for us to be saved and to damn us forever makes HIM so SAD But it is up to us to choose to be saved, by following JESUS, our "ONLY TEACHER" If we get misled by pagans like Aristotle and Aquinas, it is our fault for choosing the world over GOD This teaching shows bad will from Aquinas, that He wants to lead you to a false notion of GOD, separate from JESUS and the Scriptures Aquinas was spiritually dry and he wants to spread his worldly malaise to you as well if you try to learn from his worthless teachings you will be severed from GOD And become just as dry and Spiritless as he was And you will then see GODS RAGE at your judgment Like Aquinas more than likely did

Didn't his mommy tell him about the Immaculate Conception, the angel visits, the Wise Men and their magnificent gifts, the warning about Herod's Massacre of the Innocents, the recognition of the seer and prophet in Jerusalem, not to mention the many miracles?????? Reply Since the bible was translated wrong. The word Elohim is a plural word that mean the powerful ones, not god. As far as the word heaven it's a lie too. It came from two words one Hebrew and one Greek . Hebrew Shamayim means outer space and Greek ouranos means sky. Then you have the word angel and it is a bad translation too. It means messenger of the bright Ones. The word the devil came from King Bal. It is where they get the word Beelzebub or the devil. Jesus comes from the Greek Iésous that means Hail Zeus.

Murree was the mother of Isa a Buddhist monk. Who was crucified for teaching Buddhism to the jews. Her grave is still on the only Brewery in Pakistan. And the town is still called Murree. And just in case you think I am wrong. There are real history books that survived the Roman purge. I realize most of you are too far gone to ever recover from stupid religious bull. Just in case you ever want to know the truth. Go search the history in the Buddhist monasteries. They have been keeping real history for over 6000 years. Long before your bible, when most of the text was still part of Sumerian myth. Even Isa grave shows he was Crucified. Go look at the real history. Wake up the world is evolving. Your fake religion can not stop the awakening.

A final correction to the silly of the past metaphorical understanding but at the same time contra to the Scripture where the title God/theos refers only to "father" and not "son" ! (A few exceptions in NT, esp. in John, a very poor Greek) plus the historical Jesus never claimed to be God (Mark 10:18, and other Synoptics; plus of course, he was at first a sinner (Mk1:5,9) before his conversion. Arius was more stupid logically still as the terms "father" and "son or daughter" are relational; therefore, they have no meaning on their own,i.e., the (logical) relation between them is eternal: on their own, they have no sense! Existing Father without a Child is nonsense! St.Athanasius was smarter but was fooled like others by the literary-only reading of the Bible (still they don't see the mentioned Mk 10:18 or Mk 3:21: the historical rejection of Jesus by his dumb family) and claimed the historical Jesus was God- nonsense; yes; the resurrected Jesus is called the son of God but it is not the same! Fortunately, the divine mathematical/symbolic logic helps to rid off the past nonsense by using the "description" (of B. Russell, PM,1910,nr 14.02- widely used in any science) that is not a name but still has a meaning (e.g., df(x)/dx= the definition of derivative in which d/dx in itself does not refer to real value of a number(e.g., f'(x;for all x)=1 but has a sense (as an description of an operation). In "Trinity"-derivative: it has a sense theorem that one God reveals itself as the father/originator, the Son in Jesus Christ, and as Spirit in the community of believers and in a believer -no need for a silly Sunday preacher nonsense and paradox that "1=3" as a mystery! Who is against this interpretation is now a fool and a heretic says I@H.Spirit!

I think Jesus often used exaggeration in his oratory. That would be understood in his cultural context. I come to terms with "don't worry" by framing it as "don't worry about things you have no control over." Jesus often pointed to our inner hearts and minds as being important. When every wise thing is done to address a worry we are given permission to stop worrying. As adults we shouldn't need permission, but as humans sometimes we do.

I find the gospel account of the trial fairly convincing, given what history tells us of Pilate's political position: appointed to control a notoriously rebellious province, with meagre military support, and having to put up with a theocratic local quasi-government. I can totally imagine him praying, "oh Zeus, don't let them revolt on my watch!" And, him thinking, "If I have to concede to these yokels, how can I embarrass them in return?" Maybe it didn't happen that way, but the politics are believable.
