Strongly disagree with that comment about the weak vocals on this record... Darren's Vocals were always imo, one of the more unique aspects of the band - no, his voice isn't raspy like Joe Elliot, but for these songs... this isn't a heavy metal record, or even a Hard Rock record really, this is a melodic AOR record, and his more tuneful vocal style fit the songs perfectly. Plus, the vocals aren't weak. Just listen to 43:04 - 43:14. Sounds powerful and strong to me.

This song began my love for Bon Jovi wayyyyyy back when. I can still hear my mother yelling "TURN THAT SHIT OFF!" I just cranked it even louder, slammed my door and rocked on!!

Been listening to this album in its entirety since the day it was released at least once a month. It still holds up 30 yrs later. One of my top 10 albums of all time!!!

Am I wrong or didn’t Leo Sayer write most of their music? You can definitely hear his influence. Man, this sounds so much like More Than I Can Say. Black Metal Gods.

I took this album on cassette with me to Desert Storm in 1991. Along with Rush and Van Halen and several others. I listened to them on my Walkman after zero hundred hours (midnight) for a short time to get some sleep. Back up and at 'em at 0400 (4 am). 7 days a week. No slack. Nobody else had any slack either.

Tom Petty is so much more than GTA 😅 this is one of the best albums of all time in my opinion. I am so sad I never got to see him live but glad we are all keeping him alive.

I'd like to give many THANX to Danny Waysted and You Tube for helping to somehow bring back this Golden Masterpiece after all these years. The day I lost the cassette, I never heard it again, until it came back to You Tube years later. To me this is Gold, even if others find it slightly underrated. Underrated or underground doesn't mean it's no good. It just means that artist is not most well known to all audiences. I think Ron Emory of T.S.O.L. is one of the best guitar players of all time, and has the greatest punk rock talent, but is still not well known to all. I say those who do not know about T.S.O.L. or Hurricane Alice should give them a try, if these folks can find some spare time one day. I've been both very busy with side projects and family when I haven't been able to get online. I've been sick, too for a while, once again, but I'm back to do another episode of the Silver Star Winner's Channel next time. I just don't know what is coming next, but underrated or not, it doesn't matter to me, as long as it has that good guitar sound, and a good beat. I must go now. I will have to come back at another time. Enjoy.

This album should be considered one of the best not only of AOR but of the history of classic rock. Dave's voice and lyrics here are impressive. I never get tired of listening to songs like 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8. The lyrics don't say much but musically and vocally it's a 10.

They hit the "80s are just fun" pop metal zeitgeist of the mid 80s and critics tried to point to them as the reason the 80s metal scene was too bloated, but like any genre or scene they just gave you what you wanted and you chose your favorites, right Warrant, Slaughter, Firehouse, etc fans? The point being record companies needed line ups to at first be opening acts for more established, bigger bands/acts during the greatest concert era ever! Tom Kiefer of Cinderella and Warren DiMartini of Ratt both spoke to this in interviews years ago about the business side of Hair Metal in the years 1981-1991 Turn it up, these tunes rock

Why does the band continue to bury this album like it doesn’t exist. I think it’s still a great album. Maybe a peg or two under Abominog or Head First but still worthy. Theres only one dreadful track called Skools Burning, what the hell UH lol. We’re trying to be Twisted Sister or something 😂. That band had an awful song called Be Kewl to Your Skool or some tripe like that. Anyways don’t believe the people who slam this album. Sporting such killer tracks such as Night of the Wolf Heartache City Holding On and the title track has that certain cool cheeze eighties sound. Still top shelf UH Buy it or die! 👊🏻

Holy shit! 💩 Poison is underrated

The first time I watched them live was at HammerHeads. Went to the album debut at Mad Hatters in Stonybrook with a friend since we were 6. I was tripping my ass off. Outside of Smithtown, we pulled up next to my cousin Johnny. Last time, I saw him alive. Unfortunately, my friend is also gone. Both to gun violence. I remember this day with both joy and sadness.
