OHV ripping with Ed day 2.
Ed and I headed out again to enjoy the woods and ripping together. we took the northern route and got up into the good trails up in the cooler high hills and had a great time. Ed was rising his Beta 380 race edition and I was riding the 2024 #yz125x.

Getting to ride a 2024 Beta 390 Race Edition, first thoughts

Thanks to my buddy Ed I got to ride his Beta 390 on the trails I normally ride. what a huge difference jumping off the yz125x to the Beta. It has a big bottom end and is super close to the thumper character we all like. Like a tractor when your low in the rpm, like a screamer when you open it up. Fun bike.

Wake up early on the side of the track to see the crew out watering it and making it ready. realize your the only one there and get ready for some solo laps. What a blessed life. Thank you Jesus. I was tired and didn't have much left in me for this practice day, but I gave it my all while I was able. Hope you enjoy the sound of the #yz250x rippin.
High Desert MX Summer Series Round #2 250 Beginner on the 2024 YZ125x

Come with me to High Desert MX in Christmas Valley Oregon to race in Round #3 of the Summer Series. Tonight we only raced 1 class being 250 beginner as there wasn't enough people to race 40 Beginner also. it was 102 degrees with strong winds when I arrived at 2pm, probably 70 degrees and calm by the end of the races. The #yz125x ran like a champ and I was able to keep it on two wheels, even tho...

Took the day off work and headed to PIR for my first ever time of riding and racing at this track. I assume most moto guys try and hit up a practice day at a track before they just go and race the track and boy I sure could have used a full practice day on this track. 3 laps of practice, including the several yellow flags for crashed riders meaning you can't ride that area fast, meant it was go...

Very possible. Like I said I don't know much about these bikes. I know this bike was brand new a couple weeks ago and he started putting hours on it but the nubs on the tires were still there. 🤣 Changed title to reflect 24
Where about is this ?
@t.colvvv7807 @highdesertmx is located just outside Christmas Valley Oregon. Like an hour and half away from Bend.
What class is this?
@@evanromero9103 Old Timer beginner or 40+ beginner depending on track
Man that dust.
@fivetwentythreepov puts some hair on your chest!! 🤣 It was a rough night for sure. Practice day on Sunday 8:30 in the morning was fuckin premo!! Had it all to myself till 10:30.
Those radiator guards definitely look the business, it should help keep the mud and grass seed out of the radiator itself. The first time you accidentally lay the bike down you will be glad for all the protection.
@patrickrushton2046 Yes sir. They are super supportive. My Kx250x and kx450x both have them and I have crashed and laid them down into rocks and logs many times and the radiators are still good to go. 👍👍
I've watched Cam for years. Love your videos as well.
@CodyRaue Cam is a good dude for sure. One of the best channels on how to keep your bike looking great out there. Glad you enjoy the videos dude.👍 Maybe one day I can get ahold of Cam and go tour his shop or go on a ride with him.
@@Randy_Cox he's up you way right? I'm down here in Arizona. Racing the vet class like you and my boys race quads. My son has a channel @prestynsadventures. If you ever want to do a race down here in the southwest let me know!
@CodyRaue heck ya. I would love to make it down there and race Havasu one day. Ya Cam is in Washington and I am in Oregon. Couple hours apart but I drive a lot for races anyway. Lol
@@Randy_Cox That's on my list. We race the AZOP series.
Where do you get your jets from? I bought my bike used and i didnt get the spares.

Sweet. I will check out rocky mountain ATV. @Randy_Cox
Dirt bikes are like 4x4s they get dirty and scratched. Live it.
Dude that was sketch. Low sun in moto 1 would have made it tough. Then dark in moto 2 so sketchy as well lol. Great job and now I want to go. Oh, and when is that FMF going to show up, that thing sounds like a wet fart 😂😂.
@fivetwentythreepov bike sounds like a well oiled machine. But I really have no idea when the FMF will arrive. The day I ordered he said silencer would ship the next day, pipe when it gets made. I love it. If I could stop being a puss and just jump the jumps it would be way more sketchy. 🤣
Looking good out there! You’re definitely picking up some speed compared to some of your earlier videos out at high desert. That YZ is sounding crisp!
@frothol thanks dude. I am trying. Ya the YZ was running real good this day. Been fighting the rejet since this hot weather has come it has been a little rich, but we are getting it dialed in.👍
Nice video man, i have a 2023 and starting to build it for woods riding. wondering if you have seen anything about setting up lights on the 250x's
@@MindlessPrimate Great bikes, but no I don't run or want lights on my bikes so I never looked into it. The KLX300 has lights built into it and is meant for being a trail bike. The KX bikes are race bikes so they don't have the wiring or stator to do big electrical loads.
Never heard GOD cuss a rainy day. Lick those jumps big boy. I'm 51 and my throttle is always pinned.
@skull-s1r ohh man I was so excited to go to your channel and watch to learn how it is done, but alast you don't have a single video showing how it's done. So I will keep doing me.🤣
Be glad that someone doesn't decide to become a backpack on your ass. I know I would have.
Subscribing because we weigh the same. First person I know of that’s over 150 pounds I’m on a 125x, so thanks!
👍 Welcome to the channel. The YZ125x is an amazing bike even for us big guys. Wish I could ride it well enough to show it's full potential.
I ride a 22 KX450 on the tech trails. Added large tank, kickstand, 52 rear sprocket and she is good to go. Cheers !
@darknes7800 Glad your having a good time and got it setup how you want.👍 They are pretty great bikes.
Does'nt get much better than that track Id say, How nice.

Man you were riding so well in those conditions, nice work man. And I am so jealous that you made it out there before me, now I must go.
Felt like a fish out of water for the first couple laps. By the end the mud had dried up some and I got used to the course a little. It was a great time.👍 If you make it up this far to one of the practice days let me know. It's only 1.5 hours from me.
💪🔥
Ahh, that’s better lol.
Nice video, my rm125 1998 did this, leaned the air screw and she’s okay now
Pretty cool cooler, built like a tank👍👍.
@fivetwentythreepov yes sir. Gonna take years of abuse for sure, but the real question is.....will it take a good coat of spray paint.🤣
Great job, Randy. The track looks awesome with a great crowd of people getting down. A fun scene!
@highdesertaggrorc7801 thanks dude. It was fun and very cool to have lots more people racing. Always a good time at HDMX.👍
Man idk, there are some pretty dark spots out there. I don’t need any help crashing 😂
Ya you better stay away...🤣 I heard night tracks can smell old guys from a long ways away.🤣 But seriously it was pretty hard to go fast, not that I ever go fast, but even trying to go faster was sketchy
I miss riding havnt rode in a few months because my bike broken it’s a wr250f btw
Sorry to hear dude. Gotta treat your bike real good if you want it to treat you good. Hope you get it fixed soon.
You can not let those bikes idle
Looks like fun! Where is that?
Glad you enjoyed. Rock Creek OHV Oregon
That's pretty cool!
Thanks dude. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I’m at 300 feet above sea level and my X was jetted just fine stock.
come on out here to Massachusetts ride some trails. your trails are not even remotely blown out.... lol id pay money lots of money to ride where you are.
Oh I know my trails are premo and I am super thankful for them. Living in the middle of no where has lots of advantages. 👍 By the time I have my life sorted enough to travel around and ride across America I will be so old I won't be able to ride anymore.🤣🤣 Enjoying it while I can as much as I can.
You are learning to ride in a responsible manner. That is why you aren't destroying the bike or yourself. And that is the best way to be. Ride on, Randy. Lots of fun!! 7:30 trail is just awesome.
Thanks dude. I try and push myself to ride outside my comfort zone in places I can, but riding alone a lot you just have to back it down a tad so you don't yard sell into the trees and need a chopper ride home.😂
That's a tight trail. Was out riding with a few buddies last week. Dude in the lead flushed out a doe. She ran about 10 ft in the second guy in line. If she hit him, he'd have been hurt real bad.
Ya there is a lot to dodge and be aware of riding in the woods. Glad you were all ok.
Love your vids. Bike sounds great.
Thanks dude glad you enjoy.👍 It is sounding pretty great with the leaner jetting for sure. Shhh don't tell anyone but it gonna be sounding even better soon as #fmfracing is Hooking it up!!!🔥🔥
@@Randy_Cox Outstanding! I just bought a Yoshimura full for my RMX450. Gonna have to richen up the FI with my JD Tuner. Had the stock exhaust for years. Finally pulled the trigger on the Yoshi. Ride on! Look forward to your vid when you get it installed. Be safe.

Thanks dude glad you enjoyed the video!! Just did a video on changing the jetting for the hot summer days. 👍 czcams.com/video/WceyhyCeEGo/video.htmlsi=Mf0IzrJjqsGB4IxM
you need to get yourself a 300cc lol
What would I learn from that. I have a 450 I can just breath on the throttle and go silly speeds. But it doesn't teach you finesse or momentum or clutch skills like learning to ride an underpowered bike will. I bought this YZ to learn and practice on. It is working great.👍
125x if fun and light. You can play when you ride. What happens when you have a software issue on your 300 KTM product?
I always with a two stroke carry an extra in my pocket but on another note if you'll take some gas and a steel brush then a cigarette lighter and get that plug warmed up it'll do better for you.
The plug did just fine as soon as the jetting wasn't so pig rich it couldn't run.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
PUT IT IN SECOND MAN
It's a 125 dude. If it doesn't have enough grunt to pull in 1st gear it sure ain't gonna even move in second.
Nice trail and bike sounds nice
Hey I need your help I have a question. How much tranny oil do you put in you 2024 yz125x when you change it? I looked at the manual at it says .70ml assembled and .75 disassembled. I’ve looked all over and have read from people saying to put .80 in and others saying to put .74 . Just curious to how much you measure and put in . Thank you!!!
I don't measure. I open the overflow hole and fill till oil comes out, put bolt back in. Start bike and let it run for a min, then remove overfill hole again and add till oil comes out again.
Sounds amazing 👏
When I was running my factory carb, I settled on a 52 pilot, 165 main, NYEF at clip 3, 500ft-1000ft 24-35 degrees C. For a better off idle response, I went to the NYEG needle clip 3 and went to a 55 pilot. Same main. By some forum reports, the JD jetting for the 125X or the Yamaha Y3/Y4 needle totally improves the bike everywhere. Whenever you do the first top end, be sure to show the piston wash patten. When I did my first top end, there was no colour or burnt carbon deposits on the piston, indicating a richer carb setting than optimal.
Rippping
Thanks dude I was having a good time for sure.
Hey Randy , hi from the uk 👍 My quick question ~ how long does a full tank last you ?
I just did a full video on this exact topic.👍 check it out. czcams.com/video/V8Lr2StRv-4/video.html
Did you send in your suspension after buying the bike or is stock working out okay?
Which bike are you asking about? If asking about the kx250x I had to spring the rear but the valving is stock. The kx450x had to spring the rear and revalve as it was terrible offroad. The yz125x is 100% stock and all I have done is stiffen the clickers to full stiff.
@@Randy_Cox sorry about that, yes the kx250. I got a 2024 from motosport Hillsboro and I’m not a lightweight hehe, I only ride woods. Just curious if a weekend warrior like myself would need to do much on the stock suspension on that bike. I’ve had work done on my other bikes and honestly couldn’t tell the difference.
@terryrasor5495 if you go to www.racetech.com there is a spring rate calculator that you can use to find what spring rate for your weight, age riding skill level. The more honest you can be about all that the better recommendation they can make for your springs, but the valving on the KYB's is hard to beat and unless your racing for tenths of seconds I wouldn't waste your money. Wait is yours a kx250x or just kx250? Because the valving is diff between the two. The X is valued for offroad and is soft and plush, the standard moto model will be stiffer, although I don't know how much as I have never riden the standard one.
Well this sums up everything contained in this video: 4:53
Yes sir.🔥🔥
Nice try
Great video
Thanks dude. Glad you enjoyed.
I got a kx450f and regret not getting a yztwostroke
I love my kx450x. Took a while to learn to ride it and had to change some things so it did the tight woods better, but now it is just a ton of fun to wheelie around the forest.
I have to disagree. The 81’s wear faster to me. I got 9 hrs on my at82 and it’s looks better than any at81 I’ve had at 9-10 hrs
