Having the plastic pins in makes a big difference in the appearance. Not be perfect but much better and without as much or maybe no rattle. When someone else has been in an accident, it's amazing what you can find when you CSI the car. Hidden damage often winds up in odd places. I think in the end the car is going to be pretty nice. Cleaning up the headlights will be a big improvement for very little time & money.
Yeah it definately rattled around before and now it doesn't, used to drive me crazy. With both the Eclipse and the RSX now, I posted a video as soon as I got it detailing everything I found wrong on the test drive and bringing it home, and then a follow up video a few weeks later with a whole list of more things I found thereafter lol. And yes those ugly yellow headlights are driving me crazy on BOTH cars, gonna do something about that with each eventually...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk Few things age a car more than the cataract headlights. That foggy off-color look is a tell-tale sign of age and neglect. In the end I think this is going to be a nice car that was worth the work
I remember you always wanted one of those! Till this day I want a 8th gen si civic
Those are pretty affordable now, well under 10k usually even for a nice one. I'm probably gonna grab one of those at some point after I'm done with this base model K20
thats crazy bro my car turned off one day out of nowhere & did the same thing past 3k rpm one day but when i took it to the shop and turned it off it mustve went away, cause they couldnt find anything wrong with it and when i left it drove like normal. Now it never came back but now it idles super low with the ac on
Ours has been really random, acting up again after I fixed it briefly in the next video.
If you are worried about accidentally destroying it then you may wanna toss those Q tips cuz that's a big no no bud. You are using the proper cleaner spray but if you read the instructions or were more experienced you would know not to let anything come in contact with that extremely sensitive pickup wire. It may work just fine for now or if you're lucky you may not have damaged it and it'll last its Normal life but If I were you I would keep an eye and ear on it for a few weeks and if u have one use a scan tool with live data to monitor the operating parameters as you drive like normal. The MAP isn't all that expensive so if it does go bad it can be replaced in like a minute or two. Just keep an eye on the way ur Rexxie Runs for awhile to make sure you didn't cause any damage and remember NEVER touch the very sensitive wire on MAP, MAF or any sensor for that matter with anything at all good luck my .Rexxie brother!
I know what I'm doing, thanks. The only reason most people are advised not to touch the wire is so that they don't bend it or introduce any foreign matter onto it. As I said, I know what I'm doing...
hey i have a mitsubishi eclipse 03 gts that had crank but no start on the begining but now ot doesnt even drank now what do you think i need to attack?
Like it just goes click and nothing happens? I'd check the battery first if so, then the starter and the wires/connections on each them.
bruh?!? 40 psi IS overinflated for your car. You don't go by what's on side wall. you go by what's recommended by the auto manufacturer. should be between 32-35psi.
You're special...
lemmie guess, misfire
Evap leak
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk lol i had an 03 gts. threw a misfire code every week. changed plugs wires and distributer and it came on.
Well there are about 20 things that can cause a misfire. I had a lot of misfire issues with mine when I first got it (and other issues), but I fixed them all. I have a video showing how to check basically everything that could cause the misfire to find out what the actual issue is instead of just throwing parts at it. For me my dang timing belt kept slipping, which I did eventually solve for good. I have videos from getting the car for $800 being barely operable, clear up to the point of practically restoring the entire thing and making it a reliable daily driver which it still is to this day. That's what I do here, and will continue to do with other project cars. Got an RSX I'm working on now, but I still have more plans for the Eclipse...

@@92kbuilds-mn2lk i eventually learned there was oil in my ignition coils, car got totaled before i could fix it
I have a 17 forester xt with fa20. I had the same issues. I used subaru's cleaning kits it seem to help out a lot on the misfires. My car been running fine since. I use the kit about every 10k miles. Right now I'm having problems with my o2 sensor guessing it's just old with 165,000 mile on it.
By cleaning do you mean carbon cleaning like the cylinders injectors and valves? We're probably going to have the intake valves walnut blasted soon because they have never been done, which may fix our high rpm misfire/power loss. I just did the o2 sensors in the previous video...
Hey desperate here the little bio hazard looking back plate thats behind the harmonic balancer cog ⚙️ does that have to be in any particular position for the crank position sensor to work ?!?!
Yeah I'm pretty sure I covered that somewhere in the video, it's called the reluctor wheel/plate and yes it has to be put on in the correct orientation.
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk excellent
I have acura rsx base automatic. FBO on stock tune. I been roll racing like that 4 years using the sport shift mode. After 4 years the Auto transmission blew on me. Other than that the car was able to win some races.
I just smoked a squatted truck in mine and it's still 100% stock and not running right lol. I went to go around him and he floored it trying not to let me pass but I still got around him- laughed in his face as I zipped by him lol.
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk these RSX are so light. Mine was fully gutted interior too. It wakes up the car. I think I removed like 300 pounds. Stock weight is 2800 pounds.
Yeah I would imagine gutting an auto would really help it get off the line much faster plus just overall in general.
Good call
Everybody stop here. This is the best video for doing the belt on this V-6 mitsubishi crap, junk, lol. Guy making this video speaks proper english, no rap music playing in the background. Just the info we need to finish the job, thank you for a good video!
Thanks, really appreciate it. And glad to see you payed attention to the pinned comment and found the other video as well, as I hope everyone does.
@92kbuilds-mn2lk Anytime I do a timing belt, I replace everything, especially on a customers car. Ya if you aren't familiar with those cammed tensioners, it can be tricky. Old school timing belts on late 70s imports , all they used was the cammed tensioner you had to hang a weight off of a rod that inserted in those 2 holes, and the weight was a certain measurement from the center of beari g, example Alfa 164 LS V-6, it's a bad ass motor, look up Busso motor! Sounds like a Ferrari!
Do they still sound like a Ferrari in the late 90's/early 2000's? I always liked the way the Mazda KLDE & KLZE 2.5 V6 sounded, kinda like a Ferrari but probably not as good as the Alfa Romeo's- those are rare here in the US (not sure where you're from).
Okay so one second you say they don't make any warning before they slip, no noise or anything and then the next second you say they were screeching before they slip.... 😂
Subtle/exaggerating- and it depends on how loud the car is and whether you drive with the windows down or not which are all huge variables. Let's just say compared to other tires I have ran, there is very little warning before they break traction in a corner- which again is probably due to the weak ass sidewall folding under suddenly when you pull enough force. But that is hardly the takeaway from this video, as there were so many different problems I encountered with this tire...
Excellent detective work. Modern cars have more & more electronic which requre that skill set to fix the issues at hand
Just found your videos, I am planning to get a gt as a project so your videos are valuable
Nah I’m good I am so grateful for my Infiniti I know so many people with this car and holy shit problems headaches My Neighbor has one sister her boyfriend, couple of people from college coworkers headaches beautiful car!!! But nah
They are fun when they run right but it's hard to keep one that's not new running right for more than 12 months at a time it seems. Then again that seems to be true for almost anything that ever sits in my driveway, but I guess that's what happens when you buy used. What Infiniti you running?
Have you check the bpv
In the following/last video I found that the MAP sensor was disgusting which solved the stalling issue and greatly improved the misfire once cleaned, but I still have a light high boost hight rpm misfire. Changed the plugs yesterday but no luck, Subaru coils only have 25-30K on them. I was going to check the bpv and 3 port bcs next, but it still makes good boost. Will check all hoses and clamps as well...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk is it telling you which cylinder or is it random? Also have you check the valves make sure they are cleaned
That's the weird thing. Since day 1 when we got it almost 5 years ago with 55k miles on it clear up until now with 132k miles- all these misfires over the years and it has never once thrown a misfire code. And I was just thinking the same thing about the valves with it being direct injection- they have likely never been cleaned. I'm sure the walnut blast is in it's immediate near future...
🔥🔥🔥🔥Glad you found the issue!
Man those cars are a pain! Dope video
Anything turbo is a PITA long term to keep running 100%. Pushrod V8's are way easier to keep going (as you know). At least the Eclipse has been solid all year now that I got it all fixed up. Still gotta get to the RSX...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk true that and it came a long way!
Thanx. how long did you take to do one side?
About 2 hours, but it depends on your tools, knowledge, experience level and any problems you might run into along the way. Could go as quick as 1 hour for a pro with everything he needs and no issues, or all day for the beginner running into issues with limited knowledge and tools. But that's why I make these videos...

No, all stock except for the greddy cat-back.

I detailed the power loss fix in the video. My idle has gotten better over time without doing anything, but it probably still needs something replaced...

@@92kbuilds-mn2lk also what’s the exhaust set up your running because, I want too know if I just cut my back muffler off and straight pipe it will it make a difference
Yeah, because as I said in the video, the only thing I can think is the old filter was rattling around in there (I had a weird vibration also). Clearly you skipped through the video or didn't pay attention- I suggest you watch it from beginning to end instead of making me type it all out in the comments. It was a really weird one-off type of problem, so likely not the issue you have. Start with fixing any codes you have- presumeably you have a check engine light on? So see what the codes are. And the exhaust is a Greddy Cat-Back system, Evo 2 or something like that- plus a hole in the downpipe under the engine lol.
Dude my car literally has the same idle issue car idlers at 300-500 rpm and purrs likes this 6:20 and sometimes it’ll die/stall on me and I’ve noticed a alright power loss in higher rpm’s as well
Yo I have a Chrysler with the same engine any too how too keep it reliable- it leaks a lot of oil
Maintenance is key. Fix the oil leaks, fix coolant leaks, do a tune up when necessary, change fluids when you're supposed to, and be sure to change the timing belt when it's due so the engine doesn't blow. I have videos of all this on the channel fixing mine up...
Torques: Crankshaft bolt: 180-190Nm Tensioner pulley: 42-55Nm Timing idler pulley: 50-60Nm Hydraulic tensioner pin should protrude 3.8-4.5 mm. Cam locking tool and tensioner pulley wrench make this job easier. And double check your work by rotating crank by hand you should perfectly land the timing marks every two revolutions.
I’m going 93 on my stock 3.7 did it matter what gas company you went with?
No but try to go to "Top Tier" rated stations. Just google "top tier gas" for info (and locations), but it's basically certified good gas.
Thanks for the video and explanation. I’m looking into getting a 2011 Crosstour and this was one of the major complaints
Don't forget about the timing belt that needs changed every 60k I think ($1100 for a shop to do it). I have a video on that on my original channel now called "Buckeye Ballistics". You can do it yourself for about $300 in parts (name brand O.E. parts).
a lot of rust
I'm in the rust belt. My Durango literally rusted apart to where the rear end fell out from under it 😬
"If you're dainty!" Lmao
Hello do you know what belt to use on Mitsubishi eclipse gen 3 v4? I lost mine while driving, it uses only one belt for compressor and power steering right?
I honestly have no clue because mine is a V6, and I was getting mixed results when I tried searching for you. Auto parts store will be able to tell you though...
what size socket for the lower strut bolts?
I changed my drive belt on my 3g eclipse. And for some reason my belt squeals on cold start up. But when I drive it for a bit and turn it off and on then it doesn't do it and I don't get it
Because as the belt gets hotter the rubber gives better grip against the pulley so they don't slip and squeel against it. Try tightening it a little, provided that you are talking about the belt in this video. I had the same issue until I tightened it a little more...
pretty nuts not to pressure test while having it broken down. did you have a pinhole in that tube? my 2000 malibu did in the coolant bypass tube a real pita
I bet that car is a lot of fun with the manual transmission.
You know it
goddamn that car sounds nice
Can you update the impact gun? Your link in description is invalid
Yeah I tried to reply to you last night on the other video but it looked like you deleted your comment. I think they may have discontinued the impact that I'm using because I can't find it now either. I put up a link of a Dewalt on both videos that has the same amount of power that I would now recommend since mine is no longer available. Problem with the cheaper ones is they are not as powerful (mine was over $300 5 years ago).
You can find a workshop manual online just search for the engine code and place workshop manual behind that. I found mine the same way took a bit but eventually found it (i drive a mitsubishi galant 2.5l V6 24V
Only potential problem with that is they have been using the 6g72 engine code since the 80's, and there have been many different versions and variants along the way with different components and torque specs and such and different internals as well like SOHC vs DOHC. They have also been mounted in a ton of different orientations- same way in the Galant I think as in the Eclipse, but backwards in the 3000GT & Stealth, and longitudinally mounted in the SUV's. The different mounting position puts some of the accessories in different spots, and I think different years and applications even had different firing orders and distributors. They may have added tensioners, moved tensioners, and removed tensioners. Many other parts along the way changed as well I'm sure. Easy to get confused and mix things up if you don't know what you're doing. So great tip, but you have to be careful unless the manual shows and clearly states the differences along the way for all models.
I put a side exit exhaust on my gts it’s sounds so fuckin good 😎
Should post a video, I'd like to see that!
Thanks for the video. I think the placement is pretty good but following how easy it is to get hands on the actual plug would also help
That depends on the person. I have small hands and short stubby arms, so some stuff is easy for me to reach but not so much for others...
You didn't even show us how to align the tensioner pulley and how to tighten it
The secondary tensioner that I found out about later? (there are 2) There is no "aligning" the hydraulic tensioner, you just bolt it down and pull the pin- which I'm pretty sure I showed. If you're talking about the secondary tensioner, as I said, I was unaware of that one until my belt slipped again- see pinned comment...
Only 1 damn ply on the sidewalls!!! No Thanks.
Why this code appear only during driving? Cuz when car not move on N position everything is ok. Plus on LPG no codes, but if use gasoline thrn its appear.
The engine is under load while driving which puts a higher demand/more stress on the engine compared to N position. If there is a problem, it might only show up when the engine is stressed while being driven.
@@92kbuilds-mn2lk thank you very much for answer and opinion. Can you also share opinion why this code not appear when car driving on LPG? From logical thought, it's can be mean that problem can be on gasoline fuel system? Cuz sometimes code P0300 but sometimes it's P0301 and P0303, so it's mean we know that problem in time to time in those 1 and 3 cylinders. Bad that check this is not easy cuz need a lot of headache for getting to those cylinders, cuz maybe it's just spark plugs but maybe not, cuz on LPG no misfire :/
What is LPG? I think you're in a different country than me, never heard of LPG...
I bought my 02 GT in 2004 with 57k miles on it... In 2015 at almost 200k miles, i replaced the timing belt( just bc i knew it was due) and im telling you 100% that old timing belt looked brand new!!!
It's usually the tensioners that fail and let them slip, as was the case for me. However, I have heard of plenty of timing belts snapping and destroying engines...
fixed? under the car isa pile of rust -.-.kekek
Have you had any luck yet.? My GT died while driving/ totally out of the blue.. has error code PO340 and won’t start!
Yeah, check out the other videos. For me ended up veing my timing belt had slipped.
Also, what was the conclusion about the antifreeze leak - fix ?
Again all the details in the videos, but I ended up having to replace the water pump along with a couple seals to finally fix the leak.
Banging those gears 👀
As good as I can with the crappy syncro's lol
I like the way you shot the interior during acceleration. The camera jump makes you feel like you're in the car. This car has come a loooonnnngg way since you started working on it. It's a great daily driver and a bit of a sleeper in that people today probably dont know the potential it has.
Yeah I thought that in-car clip helped show kinda what it felt like for lack of better words. It rips pretty good for only 210hp- the GTS intake, cams, tune, higher compression (and premium fuel) add the extra 10hp over the GT model, and shift the powerband closer to redline. Combine that with the shorter GTS gear ratios and it moves pretty good for what it is. A lot of people probably think they are weak because they have raced either the 4 speed auto GT which is a decent bit slower to 60mph, or even worse the 4cyl model. And you know I came from the Mustang with with over 300hp, but this thing impresses me for only 210hp. It's not bad at all...
@@92kbuilds-mn2lkI got a 2002 stratus with the 3.0 and you've been a huge help in figuring out how to diagnose this engine man thank you so much 🙏 there are not many people out there who explain things as easily as you and thanks to that after I do this timing kit I can finally have my car back 😢😢😢😢
