Tobramycin Eye Drops - Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution - Tobramycin Ophthalmic - Toba Eye Drop
This video is about Tobramycin Eye Drops. Tobramycin Eye Drop is an antibiotic medicine that is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (e.g., conjunctivitis) and the eyelids. Tobramycin Eye Drops may also help to prevent an infection after an eye injury or surgery.
Tobramycin Eye Drop stops the growth of bacteria and thereby helps to cure the underlying infection. Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely for administering this medicine. Wait for at least 5 minutes before applying any other eye medication. Tobramycin Eye Drops should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping Tobramycin Eye Drops too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.
Tobramycin Eye Drops will not work for eye infections that are not caused by bacteria (e.g., viral) and therefore, should only be used if prescribed by your doctor. Unnecessary use of any antibiotic can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness in the future.

I'm having elective eye surgery and will be prescribed tobramycin eye drops and eye ointment. Does the FDA Black Box Warning apply to eye drops and ointment as far as the possibility of ototoxicity, neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, even C. dff.? I understand that drops and ointment are not systemically absorbed .... but is there the POSSIBILITY of adverse effects? Because I have a serious medical history and I don't want to take any chances for an elective surgery. Thank you so much!
