the problem is theft. there's a food desert because groceries cant stay in business in those neighborhoods. the goods get stolen. you can't lock up produce like you can hair care products. there's only one i know of - jeff brown of brown's superstores he owned 8 ShopRite supermarket franchises, probably way more now, in the greater Philadelphia area. His business model was to go into these underserved neighborhoods, make a rwlly nice store, and staff it from the community inclusing people with felony records. Some people said, with pride, they were the first in their family to ever have a job, and their families were proud of them. The stores are beautiful - Brown eveem created an entire business within a business with a line of sweet potato products (pies, smoothies, etc) which were inspired by and codeveloped by the customer base from their cultural foodways. these are hugely successful. jeff brown recently ran for mayor of Philadelphia but was unfortunately not elected.

AND I was worried that I'd be charged exhorbitant fees for the service. Well, the hotel's wifi was being overused and spotty, but my phone's hotspot was perfect as an alternative. The system didn't slow down, the touchless feature worked flawlessly, and it wasn't horribly difficult to connect. In fact, it was so easy, I doubted it had worked until my first sale went through. Whew! And the bill? pennies on each transaction. I have to say it exceeded expectations.
