THANK YOU! I am preparing to move back in to my mother’s house for a bit to save money and finish school. I’ll be staying in her basement which is huge, completely finished, and has a surprising amount of large windows. Unfortunately, the basement is entirely carpeted. My current apartment is extremely dated, but one element I love is the hardwood flooring throughout. I have lots of indoor plants, and they just look lackluster sitting on carpet. Hard flooring also feels so much more bright and clean. Because this move is meant to lower my cost of living and strengthen my savings, I am trying to avoid any pricey projects to make myself feel at home. I will 100% be using your method, and I thank you for sharing this beautiful, easy, and affordable idea!

Wondering how spongy this feels with all the fiber underneath. Because carpet cannot be burned or otherwise destroyed because of the substance on the underside, I'm considering applying a substance to flatten and stiffen it and then lay new board and flooring. Not ideal for renters, but you spark a good idea for homeowners. I will never do carpet again. Ever.

I prefer lot's of carpet. Softens the acoustics and makes the place overall more comfortable. Even this apt there's too much reverberation echo thanks to all the hard surfaces. People usually only consider the visual but never think of other sensory perceptions like sound and acoustics. That's important to human comfort.

My Landlord refuses to remove the disgusting carpet from my apt so I’m going to give this a try. I do not understand the obsession with putting carpet in apts either. No clue why they do that.
