MKT had a lot of "business politics" behind it. Most likely why it has not been remastered or released again like UMK3 has. It's a fucking shame too, loved the game back in the late 90s and it had the full MK Roster (to that point) for the first 2D era.

playing both i noticed some stages on N64 are a tad shorter on the sides too. Another drawback.

I don't understand why the n64 version is so cut. The 64 mb limit is no excuse because they didn't use even a third of the maximum 64 mb. For example, mk 4 is perfect on n64. They were just lazy. Is there no one to hack this n64 game and make it perfect 😢

This is easy to debate N64 wins considering loading screens on PS1 yet duhhh music will be flawless on ps1 but are you playing ps1 games for their music and load times?

Duh the arcade is superior. It wasn't until Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast the consoles surpassed the arcade versions anyway. I think this comparison just shows how great of a port this actually was for the time. MK3 is not my favorite in the series, but this was the best of the SNES ports by far. Kind of like Street Fighter II, it came so VERY close to capturing the exact feel of the arcade.

The worst thing about the N64 port, outside of the fact that the developer still did nothing to actually, you know, BALANCE that obnoxious, brutal AI, was the sound. It honestly sounded like the SNES version of MK3. Which is unforgivable. No, N64 didn't have CD audio, but it could DEFINITELY do much better sound. Hell, NBA Hangtime sounded fantastic on it. Otherwise, if not for the sound, and being able to play Goro and Kintaro (which easily could have been added), the N64 version was somewhat superior. The PS1 version mainly wins because of that soundtrack, and because you could pop it in a CD player and just listen.

They recorded new voices for MK3 because of the higher quality audio for the game............ but I agree, MK2 is superb.

Both the PS1 and arcade versions suck. The PS1 version looks horrible, takes ages to load each round and feels nothing like regular SF2. The laziness of it reminds me of a 3do game. The sort of experience that makes you go "oh that's why the 3do failed".

N64 is missing a ton of frames, worse color and worse music.

Conversões de ótimo nível. Podem ser comparadas sim ao original neo geo , até com vantagens, exemplo do controle snes que facilita mudança de plano e torna a jogabilidade até melhor que no neo geo. Sobre o f.f.special, a versão japonesa tem uma jogabilidade horrenda, o que não acontece na versão americana.

The music is only a minor part of the problem, though. Notice the incorrectly assembled background layers, fewer details, wrong character positioning and smaller sprites compared to the arcade games? Worse than that, the N64 version has fewer frames of animation than even the 16 bit versions of MK3. That's just pathetic. However, I do love the 3 on 3 mode in that version.

I was alive during the ps1 welcoming and I can certainly tell you that it had the most pixeled graphics ever. The dreamcast was the best version.

It's interesting that the SNES version choose to deviate in terms not putting the names inside the health bar. Clearly it was a deliberate choice, as well as the "Fight!" and "Finish Him!" scrolling down as opposed to zooming in and out. When MK1 came out, it was the Genesis game that had the altered health-bar/name dynamic. It doesn't effect the gameplay, but it's a small detail that keeps it from being as close a port to the original as possible.

Hearing “FEEL THE WRATH OF SHAO KAHN” coming from the arcade machine as you battled you’re way to the top just gives your body pure CHILLS. It’s absolutely menacing and legendary.

N64 version sucks... Poor animations, graphics bugs everyware, bad quality BGM, Little sprites than other versions. 👎🏻
