I’m glad they seem to have made Esmeralda in this closer to her counterpart in the book. Most versions make her a Romany by birth when in the book she was actually a French girl kidnapped by the gypsies as a baby and raised by them.

I really love the Russian version, with Marakulin, but the English one also gives me goosebumps, how much passion and pain there is in the lyrics, you listen and understand that Frollo is not a villain, but a victim cornered by church dogmas and vows and out of desperation became an executioner.
