Breaking Down Millennial Beliefs in Christian Eschatology? | S4 Ep. 9
Understanding Preterist Amillennialism and Millennial Views in Christian Eschatology
Check out the Ebook: renew.org/endtimes/
In this episode of Scripture in Black and White, Bobby Harrington and Anthony Walker explore various perspectives on millennial views in Christian eschatology, focusing particularly on Preterist Amillennialism. They discuss how this view interprets the millennium and the binding of Satan as symbolic periods starting with Jesus' resurrection. Comparisons are made to Classic Amillennialism, Historic Premillennialism, and Dispensational Premillennialism, covering the origins and beliefs of each view. The discussion also critiques Hyper-Preterism as heretical and emphasizes understanding symbolic versus literal interpretations of biblical prophecies. The episode aims to educate and engage listeners with a thorough exploration of these eschatological views.

31:10 Conclusion and Final Thoughts
This episode, provides an in-depth examination of various eschatological views within Christian theology, focusing on millennial perspectives. The discussion is led by two hosts, one explaining the perspectives while the other asks clarifying questions.
Preterist Amillennialism
The episode begins by exploring Preterist Amillennialism. This perspective, endorsed by theologians like R.C. Sproul, posits that the kingdom of God began with Jesus' resurrection, marking the start of a millennium during which Satan is bound and unable to hinder the church's growth. This view sees the church's expansion as a fulfillment of Revelation 20, with the righteous reigning with Jesus in heaven until His return. This will be followed by the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked, final judgment, and eternal destinies. The hosts caution against Hyper-Preterism, which contends that Jesus' second coming, the resurrection, and the final judgment already occurred in 70 AD, contradicting foundational Christian beliefs and scripture passages like 2 Thessalonians 2.
Classic Amillennialism
The discussion then moves to Classic Amillennialism, which aligns with the belief that the millennium began with Jesus' resurrection, inaugurating a period during which Satan is bound, allowing the church to expand globally. This timeline includes a last days' decline, the rise of the Antichrist, and significant tribulations before Jesus intervenes. The episode emphasizes the symbolic interpretation of the thousand-year period, a concept rooted in literature like Plato's "Republic."
Historic Premillennialism
Next, Historic Premillennialism is examined. This view, prevalent in the early church until the time of Augustine, posits an Old Testament era followed by the church age. A notable decline and great tribulation ensue, featuring the Antichrist and cosmic disruptions. Jesus' return initiates a literal thousand-year reign on earth with the righteous, followed by Satan's release, a final apostasy, and ultimate divine intervention, leading to final judgment and eternal destinies.
Dispensational Premillennialism
The conversation then shifts to Dispensational Premillennialism, a modern view originating in the 1830s with John Nelson Darby and popularized by the Schofield Reference Bible. This perspective introduces a distinct period for Israel, delineating a church age that pauses prophetic fulfillment regarding Israel until the rapture, which removes Christians from the earth. A seven-year tribulation follows, focused on Israel, marked by the Antichrist's rise and severe persecution. After this tribulation, Jesus' return inaugurates a literal thousand-year reign, followed again by Satan's release, final judgment, and eternal destinies.
Postmillennialism
The episode also explores Postmillennialism, characterized by optimism about the church's future. It suggests the millennium began with Jesus' resurrection, leading to gospel prosperity and global church growth. Although this view posits a brief rebellion before Jesus' return, it anticipates a general improvement in adherence to Jesus' teachings worldwide.
Throughout the podcast, the hosts reference biblical texts, historical contexts, and scholarly works, offering a comprehensive overview of various theological positions. They emphasize respect for differing views and encourage listeners to engage critically and reflectively, underscoring the importance of scriptural fidelity and historical consistency.
Summary and Reflection
The episode concludes with a summary, highlighting the intention to accurately represent each eschatological view. The hosts reflect on the importance of understanding these perspectives and invite audience interaction.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation It would help to look into the original Greek and Hebrew bibles to get the proper meaning of a word, especially with the word “confess” being an ambiguous word. The Greek word for confess in this verse is “Homologeo” it is a construction of 2 Greek words. HOMO-OF THE SAME. LOGO-WORD. When you confess Christ you are of the same word(s) as Christ. You speak the same words as Christ did and you do it daily. That is confessing Christ as Lord. P.s it is not a sinners prayer as many make it out to be. That does not exist..

I love this podcast my Sisters in Christ. As one correction: The Ethiopian eunuch mentioned in the Bible was a high court official of Candace, the queen of Ethiopia. He was in Israel to worship the Lord at the temple, which means he was probably a Jewish proselyte not a non believer as mentioned in this podcast. On his trip home to Ethiopia, he had a life-changing encounter with Philip the evangelist (Acts 8:26-40).

The Restoration Movement was a 19th century Lockean vision of what the early Church looked like. The branches of Syriac, Coptic, and Greek Orthodox Churches liturgically and hermeneutically tie much closer to what we know historically. The Campbell Stone movement makes a lot of assumptions w 'common sense', but tend not to be on the forefront of studying anthropology and philosophies of the day

most of your discussion regarding "desire for your husband" is also what i've been taught but i did enjoy Pastor Bobby's conversation as well. i believe both could be true. i did want to follow up with you on your pushback about Adam not being present for the original sin - 3:6 “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.” ESV version clearly states Adam was front row - my hebrew game is lacking so possibly you're referring to teachers that discuss a different translation? ‭‭

I don't understand how you can say a Catholic can have the Holy Spirit. If the scripture says if _anyone_ teaches a doctrine that's different than the gospel of the Bible, and it says let them be cursed, if you're a devout Catholic, following _their_ doctrine, you're not following the scriptures. You're following Roman infused traditions that supersede God's word. Their doctrine literally is sheep in wolves clothing. Praying to Mary, praying to the saints, chanting the rosary, calling priests father, etc. Pretty much everything they teach is heretical. Wouldn't that be like saying a Mormon, a Jehovah witness or a Muslim or the _average_ Pentecostal gnostic/charismatic type church that puts endless false prophecies and teachings above the scriptures, (pretty much *any* show on TBN) could too then? 🤔

If I may, I do not believe the explanation of the following text - your desire will be for your husband - is accurate. Her desire will not be for him to be like Jesus. Though this may be true for a few, her desire (as we see in the world today) is to usurp the man, to control, to rule over the man, or to replace the man altogether. However, God has placed the man to be in the leadership role , through limited authority; therefore, the battle for headship commences because of the pridefulness; the outpouring of the sin to be better, equal to or more knowledgeable than God. Example to use here is Rebekah’s intent and execution to deceive Issac so that Jacob could receive the inheritance. Additionally, I would not say that Adam did not pass down the commandment to Eve given to him from God. We know she knew what the commandment was. So who told her? Was it God or did Adam actually tell her the commandment? By what is stated in the video, the man has the responsibility of ensuring she knows what is right. Furthermore, very few commentaries suggest that Adam was with her. Dr Gill and John Calvin would say that it is false to assume Adam was present. Remember, Adam named all the creatures, it is of my opinion that if Adam was present and a snake spoke he would have sought God’s attention prior to the deception taking place. Where things went really wrong was when she brought the fruit to him. It was not until after Adam ate that THEIR eyes were open. Adam should have, out of love, corrected his wife and then brought it to the Lord. She made a decision that Adam knew had dire consequences yet there was no saving her for she followed through on the decision. Numbers 30: 6-8 deals with wives making decisions and what is to happen if the decision was not welcomed by the husband. Once again the actions described in the Numbers would make more since (to inact) if Adam had been there. Everything else I agree with. Thank you for the video.
