Closer match than I thought it would be considering Marshall still gave you control of the net almost every point. Looks like the two of you were really pounding the ball in this match. Congrats on another golden feather in your cap!
Do you do any singles-specific drills? Or have you improved your singles game just through playing rec and tournaments?
The best drill for singles to start off with is developing a solid serve you can consistently hit. Set up targets, and either go by the number of minutes or balls and see how much you can progress from there.

Nice work B! Poor fella didn’t stand a chance
Thanks D! Had fun with our singles game this morning ;)
Surprised CZcams let you post this murder of an old man online. In what world do these two belong in the same tournament? Old boy in the blue was hitting straight to his opponents forehand, that is whenever he wasn't hitting a pop fly.
Actually. Dude clearly could not move well or hit hard enough balls.
In his defense, he was signed up for the lower division and then got combined in the high division. He didn’t even want to compete but the director asked him heavily
@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR crazy
Congrats! Nice practice session for you 😉. I like how you at least celebrated your opponents good shots even if he was completely over matched in this one.
A good shot will always be a good shot and that deserves respect, in my opinion
Guy in dark blue does not have a backhand and his serve is bordering on illegal. When serving your racket must have an upward movement low to high.
Breaking ankles and ripping nets!
Why use a delisted paddle? No bueno
Check the date of this tournament
@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR Makes more sense now haha my B
Lucky guy, Marshall has no idea what he is doing in singles.. get to the net on your return young man! Congrats on your fine play, hope the paddle is allowed in future tournaments. 😅
Me too, Marshall is a great guy and you should see how he showed up in the final game we play
You step in the kitchen the last shot
That's the Tennis line, zoom in and look at the fainted gray painted line. It was messing me up too.
I liked the video but about the return on after point balls, when you returned them you also just send it without even noticing your opponent isn’t even facing you so he also bends to pick up your balls… just saying…
Fair point
Hands down the best pickleball sensei in Maryland! 😉 Thanks so much for the shoutout, Mr. Miyagi! I really appreciate it. Looking forward to our next training session and leveling up my pickleball skills.
Thank you! Of course, anytime. It’s always a pleasure to work with you.
This is great to watch. I recently moved up to 3.5 singles, didn't do well - reviews like this are super helpful. I take your point on the lazy ball returns. I've definitely done it but never with the intention of gaining an advantage - I'm either in my head about what just happened or extremely exhausted myself :).
Thank you, glad I could help. And the guy probably wasn't doing it on purpose, we were both super exhausted by the end of it. It's more of it's someone is right by you and they still toss it by your feet, that's something that gets me going a little bit.
That dude is the same dude that drops 10lb weights in the gym.
I love your videos man!
yes, all your opponent's serves were fault!
What can you do except keep positive and prove you can be better than someone with a “illegal” serve
Looks like two foot faults by your opponent between 5:40 and 5:44 👀. Gold medal match needs a ref!
100% Gold Medal matches need Refs that enforce the rules!
quick tip in case you didn’t know your weakness is your backhand returns
Should be a easy game than ayee
this is not 4.0 definitely 3.5 play. 4.0 singles should be charging every play
3.5 can barely hit the ball over the net 4.0 is a transitioning level with getting shots more consistent. These people are hitting hard and consistently stop being a troll
Literally everyone looks worse on camera than in person. If everyone saw how they played on camera, they'd be disgusted lol
@@BarbaricYT what you mean stop being a troll i actually play the sport and would beat both of these guys in singles and doubles
@@bradysylvester6259 doesn't mean this isn't a 4.0 tournament

I had so much fun while watching your game. btw your kit style reminds me of young Rafa. That is why watching was extra enjoyable for me
Thank you, I always was a big fan of Rafa and Andy growing up. Definitely trying to embody the nadal spirit
that was really gold medal match. was so close we r waiting for 3th set
I am going to do a match break down of the third set, hopefully will be ready within the next week or so. Thank you for your patience.
What're your thoughts on your opponents serve?
Wait for the third video to come out, ima do a slow motion break down to see if it is illegal and then let the internet weigh in as well.
@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR it immediately stuck out to me. Looks illegal to me but maybe my eyes are deceiving me.
Multiple people brought it up to him during the tournament but the director didn't do anything about it. I think were people went wrong is that they were trying to get him for having a serve higher than the belly button but when I am watching it in slow mo, the "low to high" motion is more of a straight back and straight through with a upward motion. He has been getting called out in other tournaments so that should be a sign as well to maybe start looking at changing the serve.
@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR makes sense to me. If multiple people see an issue with it, might be time to make adjustments on his end.
@@evanc1275 Would be nice to have a formal rule or way of enforcing it.
Great Play, Brendon!

@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR I have been using my the last several days... I got it because i normally use a self-designed paddle from a manufacturer that makes some things for major brands (I'm in China alot). At a recent PPA (4.0 - 4.5) event at Pictona (Daytona Beach FL) , paddles were checked and mine was fine for round robin, In championship bracket, it was checked and approved first round, second round it was not checked... however, when we got to the bronze medal match finals it was said it looks fine but (we did not pay the $1500 fee and send 6 paddles for approval) it was not on the list... so I had to borrow a paddle from someone else. Luckily we won the first 2 of 3 matches... but i wanted a paddle that would match the control of what I was used to. Then, in a tournament, i would not need to worry. Well, now I'm in a dilemma with a paddle i did not pay to get approved (Manufacturer says it will be no problem, just send the money), or my new Ben Johns paddle which ... who knows what will happen... my next tournament, mid June, cortland, NY. I guess I should be paddle shopping again.
100% have the back up paddles ready. It really is unfortunate because I myself spent a month plus just really dialing in the new gen 3 paddles power just to have that info come out just throws a lot of wasted time away.
Obviously a nasty backhand, but there had to be time to run around one of those for the forehand put away, somewhere right?
But what if you like that backhand more than the forehand? Kinda like a Conner Garnett but with a roger federer backhand finesess.
@@Mr.Miyagi_PPR Let's calm down with the comparisons 😂 jk, but im sure even Garnett would run around that for a forehand overhead.
@@ChanGardeningToolPark you right lol it’s hard to resist that juicy sitter sometime

Around the 19:35 mark, is he holding the 14mm or 16mm Magnus?
14mm surprisingly I liked better.

I will make sure to include that in the next one, I did the same version with some different people.

Yes!
Do they give you the answers when you make a mistake so you can not miss the question when you retake? Does it cost $35 to retake the test? Can you retake it immediately after you make the errors so that it is fresh on the memory and pass with a higher grade? Are the questions the same when you retake? How long did it take you to take the test? Thank you.
- No they do not give you the answer. - I believe you could re-take test as many times as you want but i'm leaning like 98% on that one. - Yes, once you take the whole test, you can go back and see what you got wrong but it wont show you any correct answers. - The questions are the same but different order and different answer order. - It took me about 1 hour, but it's essentially open book so you got this!
