In an undated letter to his life partner, Micheál Mac Liammóir wrote “I love you so much, I can’t express it”. Hilton Edwards, in turn, was so bereft after Michael's death in 1978 that he hardly left the house they'd shared for decades. And yet it is likely surprising to some to learn that two men so deeply in love as all that had a happy and fulfilled life together in Dublin, Ireland, from the...

Maps are not only useful tools for getting us from place to place, they are huge repositories of information. It is possible to summarise a great deal on a map AND to show features in their spatial relationships. Maps give a sense of a place which cannot be obtained from text alone. This lecture will look at some moments in the history of the development of Dublin as captured in the maps of the...

For me JFK was the greatest President that the USA ever had and he did more for Ireland 🇮🇪 than any other President ever did. Because of his legacy, the Irish are like brothers and sisters to most Americans and are welcomed with open arms for those of us visiting America 🇺🇸 or living there. What a awesome President and a wonderful friend to Ireland. He was an inspiration to me , 10:25 Ireland 🇮🇪 and probably the whole world 🌎. The world loved him and the fact that his father was Irish helped Ireland become the great nation that we are. Most Catholic families had a picture of him and the Sacred Heart ❤️ in our homes. Long live the Kennedys 🙏

As I see this video, perhaps this was the base plan to kill JFK... Trust in this type of parade without their respective security is the real motivation to impulse a plan for his assassination in Dallas. Going beyond... perhaps they couldn't have had the proper target to reach him in Dublin as in Dallas... RIP

If the Secret Service had been on the cars two rear bumper foot stands with hand griips the shots would have been blocked. JFK did not want them there because he wanted himself and Jackie to be seen. It was always said that the rear bumper foot stands were not in the right place to protect the President anyway. This video clearly shows where the rear bumper foot stands were and would have protected the President. Also, it was always very obtuse about how Clint Hill got onto the back of the car with Jackie. Earlier windows of the footage show him riding on the side of the back up car. Somehow he managed to run up and jump on JFK's car stepping onto the bumper footstand and leaping onto the back of the car. Many accounts had him somehow walking along. So many strange stories. Strange these bumper stands were never brought up or revealed in the hundreds and hundreds of footage and photos I saw about the assasination. The bumper stands that were not there are there. Very mysterious. The hand rail to hang on is clearly visible on the right side of the car. More disproven conspiracy stories. It just goes on and on. Emory Roberts rode shotgun in the back up car head of the Secret Service Detail that day at Dealey Plaza. When the President got shot, Emory Roberts was in charge thereafter. Nobody ever talks about that. He took charge of everything, and immediately got Johnson onto Air Force One to leave Dallas and be sworn in going to Washington or if necessary a safe place to protect him. Emory was my neighbor in Wheaton, Md. on Holdridge Rd. Most of this is in Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot In the early morning it was scheduled to rain in Dallas and the Secret Service was setting up to install the canopy on the car. The forecast changed and the President wanted to be seen by the crowds, and besides the President did not want ir put on. So it was not put on. So as to not make JFK negligent in his death, it was bandied about that there were no foot stands on the rear of the car for Secret Service to ride on. Clearly you can see two foot stands on the rear bumper of the car with handrails to hang on. Clint Hills is stepping on one to get onto the back of the car to be with Jackie. There is just bogus story after bogus story surrounding JFK's assasination.

You wrote two bogus parts of that sad day yourself! He did NOT order any S.S. off the rear bumper hand holds and footstools! That is a myth that keeps being repeated by those who wanted him dead. He did NOT do what you said he did. He obeyed the S S orders (yes, the S S. legally is in control of him for his safety), and he cannot "order them" to do anything! The S.S. stand down on that awful day was directed by higher-ups in the S.S. (Emory Roberts for one), who did not like him, and were in on the plot along with the VP, the Mastermind who got his allies in the Pentagon, Intelligence, anti-Castro Cubans, and the Mob, plus FBI Director Hoover to coordinate the plot to kill him in that easily hidden area at Dealer Plaza; Dallas, TX, the VPs home State of power with some key people in the Dallas PD. So, Kennedy did not "cause his own death" by ordering the S.S. off the rear of the limo or other actions taken by others. It was a plot by those power-grabbing, war-mongering murderers who killed him! STOP repeating that lie on him "ordering the S.S. off the rear" as it is patently false and a myth! As is the bubbletop that you said he also "ordered removed!" Where do you get your false info? That cover top was not bulletproof, but the light changes when on the limo could mislead the shooters where to aim their rifles. It also could deflect a bullet aimed at him, but we'll never know because the rain had stopped by then. (The S.S. was in control of the bubbletop, part of their overall security area.) If it hadn't, maybe the plot would have failed on Elm Street with the fatal bullet deflected away, but the plotters would have had a backup plan. Unless he still had to go to the hospital. But not hit fatally in his head, as his other wounds in his mid-back and throat (front direction wound proving a conspiracy, by Dr. Malcolm Perry's report of a small, round hole just below his Adam's Apple area in his throat) were survivable.

Thinking about the assassination of JFK, one wonders what good a good education, a solid Harward education, a brilliant career as a senator, a brief but ideologically impactful presidency, both nationally and globally, could have done for one asshole to send it all down the drain, and if he was not the only one, for a bunch of criminal assholes to have changed the course of a country's history.

He and Khrushchev disregarded their respective military chiefs, to broker a Peaceful agreement that saved the world! What's wrong with you not to realize that by itself, elevated him as a man who truly wanted peace, unlike his evil, war-mongering successor who gleefully mass murdered over 58,000 in Vietnam (that Kennedy was starting to pull out his non-combat advisors) all to make $ Millions in previously buying war armament stocks as other insiders also did in changing the foreign policy there. No combat troops in S. VN until the landing near Da Nang, on Mar. 8, 1965! None before by Ike or Kennedy!

This is even more relevant in 2022. More secure parking needs to be available in carparks and other places even if there is a moderate charge. Especially for all day bike parking. The very real fear of having your bike stolen or vandalised is a greater deterrent to more people cycling for work or socialising than the lack of bike lanes and infrastructure. If I left my bike parked in Dublin I have a two metre Diamond rated chain lock and a Gold rated D lock which together weigh in at almost 8kg and even that's no guarantee if thieves can get the freedom to spend a few minutes cutting with a good angle grinder.
