This is so cool. I'm in love with this cover, my god... I was obsessed with the Beastie Boys throughout my whole childhood and teenage years, but not many people had ever heard their music before. All their songs were great, and this one isn't even my favourite song of theirs, but for some reason I had the entire thing memorized by the time I was like 12. Makes me feel nostalgic for a time period that I wasn't even alive for. Back when rap music was upbeat, fun, and the lyrics actually meant something. (As opposed to rap lyrics nowadays that either don't make any sense and is just "noise', or they rap about" birches and hoes", shooting people, how much of a "gangster" they are) 🙄

Very good job! I´m from Northern Germany and in 1987 I visited New York City. I was very interested in Rap and Hip Hop music. First I bought a SONY Sports Walkman and when I walked trough the streets of Manhattan I was listening to Marley Marl at Radio WBLS. MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shanté, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, Run DMC and Public Enemy have been my heros. At this time it was nearly impossible to buy Rap and Hip Hop records in Germany. It changed when Run DMC got a number one hit with Walk this Way. On 12th of September 1987 I went on top of the World Trade Center and there I was listening to LL Cool Js "I need Love". The weather was fine and I will never forget this feeling I had... I need Love, probably the best love song ever :)

John Herald told me about meeting Doc in the Village, early 60's. A famous promoter hosted a party for all of the present folk icons to come meet him. Herald kept asking him to " play it faster", which he did to perfection. Then, Herald got all lit up and devoted all of his time to flat picking.
