I heard you can pull out the relay Fuse and they won't be able to start it just have to remember to put it back on
Wrap your keyfob in aluminum foil it will stop sending signals to your car.
My dogs would've been raising a ruckus. You cant even walk down the sidewalk without them sounding.
The designers of these cars are smart enough to do better than this. Stop with all this convenience crap and make the cars secure. What about real metal keys again?
this video is actually the owner and his buddy getting the car started remotley using toyota signal designator ignition start program since he lost his key, then he took his friend home.
dude you are crazy
Get the club
They just cut the steering wheel
These thieves gain access via CAN bus of the headlight. How hard for Toyota to put a password on the CAN bus access. A 8-digit password will be way above these low-lives' reach.
Shit security from Toyota !
they hijacked the CAN bus
So every video ive seen of thieves robbing a rav4 by CAN injection is by the front left light? Why is this? Is it not possible from the right front side or is it just easier on the left side or why can someone explain?
CUZ THIS IS ON UK ONLY UK HAS A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WE KNOW UK IS CORRUPTED
@@justinlikesme19 That's not right, this happened to me too. Unfortunately, this often happens in EU countries.
OK
Good luck trying to steal my car. Brake pedal lock that’s impenetrable and an internal siren that will deafen them.
What equipment do you have? I have to get another vehicle due to a break in and I want to be prepared!
@@toabettertomorrow7949 I Made my own brake pedal lock so it will confuse the thief. I installed an alarm that’s activated if either of the front doors are opened. I made this alarm myself using a sealed lead acid battery and a latching relay circuit. If triggered it powers 2 very loud piezo sirens inside the car. I made a metal cover for the computer port under the dash. My car is a top spec CX-5. It has an alarm system with immobiliser as standard by Mazda. My additions are just to make it extra difficult. A car with a factory fitted alarm and immobiliser is a good start. You can then get a second immobiliser fitted. You can also disable walk up unlock on your key fob and cars menu.
Is there more information to youre story? Mine got stolen this morning but its a camry im so fucking angry
I have a theory to make your car less of a pick to steal and this involves looks of the car. Modifying car will make it more easy to spot in case it's stolen. Such as Instagram handle on one of your windows. Putting a military logo at the back of your car. Maybe even putting anime logos just something to make your car more personalized and less like every other same exact car model and color of that car. Your car with modifications will make it much more easier to identify. With my RAV4 I made the color of the hood and the top of the car to be blacked out. I can easily spot my car in a parking lot and know it's my car based on the fact the hood is black and the rest is red.
There is an easy $5 fix. A hidden manual kill switch would have stopped this. There is also a steering wheel "Club" that locks your steering wheel manually. If they break in, they can't steer your car. A hidden tracker is also a good security feature that isn't a factory one placed in a different location. You can take the fuel relay fuse out from your fuse box and it won't go anywhere or start.
The club can be removed in seconds by cutting the steering wheel. (Bolt cutters or hacksaw.) Manufacturer just tells you how tough their product is. They fail to mention how weak the part it's locking to is. (They were hollow metal. I wouldn't be surprised if thru were some type of plastic now or in the future.) I wouldn't be surprised if they started making them weak enough one could break thru the steering wheel using "the club" locked to it.
Is this your car
Yes
Video is a spoof
Don't people buy immobilsers any more?
Embrace diversity or keep your car.
Unfit For Purpose under the Sales of Good Act 1988 - you're entitled to a full refund from the manufacturer.
Don’t by Toyota ! The company has known about this for last 10 months. No response from them. These stolen ones are shipped to Africa in containers. The container prices have crashed and it is dirt cheap to ship overseas. Look up “CAN injection - keyless car theft” by Ken Tindell.
2mins... Seems more like 20mins... If you was really serious about stealing a car(s) Invest in a tow truck, trailer, radio jammer, etc
These new modern cars are complete garbage. Some cars have over 20 electronic modules through out the vehicle for various "creature" comforts. I'll stick with my 83 F100. They'll have to drag it somewhere to steal it. They aren't going to just drive it away, that's for damn sure.
20? More like 100+. Toyotas have poor digital security which is entirely on them. European brands aren't so stupid.
*I'd like to install a security system that blows up the car after driving 23 feet without the fob*
All data traveling through the can bus should be encrypted. That would probably defeat something like this
My Rav4 was stolen last night, i live in Plaistow, East London. Thankfully recovered it as i had a tracker. I think it was stolen in exactly the same way. Insurance company are dealing with the repairs as thieves pulled out lots of electrical wires inside the car.
I wouldn't want it back if I'm completely honest.
@@adlar2005 out of curiosity why do you say that? Is there something i should be concerned about?
@@mateenio2186I think it's because you don't know what the thieves could have done to it. They could have messed up some electrical parts in cost more money to fix
I think those guys were actually slow. Gone in 60 seconds great movie 😂
Stay clear of smart keys.
Well this isn't the fastest way... Unless these guys were just learning..
if it work on RAV4, GR Supra... Toyota GR Supra and BMW Z4 is same car.
I can't see a dang thing. Just a long video of nothing before the vehicle drives off.
My 2018 Dodge Charger can start up without the fob, but if the fob doesn't connect with the ignition plate the engine will shut off if any pedal is pressed. To disable this you'd have to dismantle my entire steering column to get inside the ignition switch. Which is hopefully too much of a pain in the ass and time consuming to do. 🤔
Expect in this case, additional security provided by Trunk Monkey would be appropriate…
Super dumb allowing a simple Canbus system to do this , LOL
Tajný vypínač za pár stovek... jako kdysi.
Best method to secure your car from thieves is to install in it a bomb with a passcode if not entered it explode 😂
That's awesome you get to smoke a thief and get a new car
You will get done for endangering the thieves and that is a fact. Then you won’t be able to buy a replacement car or any insurance.
Steering wheel lock
Just go back to the steering wheel lock. I started using the steering wheel club since I got my car. It may not be bulletproof but, its a deterrent or it may add more time. Also, i will be changing my car alarm system to an aftermarket that, among many other features, add the shock, starter kill, and motion sensors. Also, remove the starter fuse if you can.
Can't see a thing..
In a really bad neighborhood, I guess pulling a few fuses will prevent start up. Pain in the butt to do everytime but I would assume having your vehicle stolen is an even bigger pain.
Could install a secret kill switch
I go away from home for long periods, leaving my car in the driveway. I simply disconnect the battery. Of course, my car has "low market value", LOL.
I hope their wieners fall off 😏.I don’t judge - but, seriously, society would be much better off without them
And here in Russia, thefts have decreased in comparison with the 90s.☝️😊
They got nothing left to steal anymore.
Makes me sick watching this...effing pieces of $hit
You could have cut at least half the video.
No I think the length is there showing the bad guys identify the car with that White Prius V drive by and then back up (where they probably dropped the dudes off who did the dead).
The point in leaving the whole video is to verify the exact length of time required and how few tools and little light is required for the thrives. It's like watching car repo videos. You wouldn't believe how they can extract a car parked tight to others or a building. They can even use two tow trucks to pick up a front wheel drive parked tight at the nose and drive off with one truck moving in reverse. They csn drop the lift and push under the car or truck and hook it driving away in 3-5 seconds.
It would be great to have a secondary security system that allows the thieves to steal the car, but after 100 yards or so if you don't have a key with the right RFID signal for the secondary system, it kills the gas/throttle/motor and locks the door handles to the inside, then alerts either 911 or the owner. Car isn't stolen, AND the theives did the deed and get caught redhanded, hopefully.
I had one. It was a ignition coil module for my old El Camino. It had a toggle switch for valet, run, security. In the security setting it would allow the vehicle to start, run for a little bit and then drop the spark. Left it stranded in the middle of the street. Just had to hide the toggle switch.
Aye. With a taser too. If you don’t put the correct key within 1km they get shocked and locked in.
locking the doors would be a horrible idea, the rest i agree with.
I bet that in sweden a system that would lock the thieves in the car would actually be illegal 🤔
Kinda strange how various news websites are just now starting to talk about this issue
The thieves apparently haven't been saying what they've been up to (car mfr's have been releasing FOB's on newer cars that go to sleep w/o motion so the relay attacks were starting to be defeated) and the police / repair guys would have no clue what was going on here. Some guy who specializes in car security (computer stuff) had his car stolen this way and ran down the rabbit hole to figure this out and publicize it - great article over in Ars Technica that explains it (There’s a new form of keyless car theft that works in under 2 minutes). The thieves directly attack the computer system in the car from within the car's own internal computer network (which connects and monitors everything down to lights etc.), which the car thinks is safe so its computer trusts all instructions - this is why the bad guys are disconnecting lights and prying open pieces of the car to cause errors and gain access to that internal network and then they tell the car to unlock, ignore the lack of the key fob and start up and let them go).
@@Sasparillafizz The yes-we-CAN-bus
Does this only work with push start or are key ignition in danger too?
Just a push
Modern cars that require a physical key can have the key programmed. The only issue is you need to be able to the decode key cylinder $500. Be able to cut the key on the spot $2,500. Programming the key assuming no subscription or profile sign up is required $600. The window must be open so you can crawl in without tripping the alarm or they use this can injector to bypass the security. Definitely not a 2 minute job.
You just witnessed two of the biggest losers around. I end those types immediately if and when encountered. #DontTreadOnMe 🐍
It's a pain, but just disconnect the negative battery cable and put a steering wheel lock on every night. The alternative could potentially be a nightmare.
I put a lock on the steering wheel every night and I also put a lock on the tire every night and so far I have no problem.
❤
@Training Centre Raya London have you not looked into investing in a GHOST security system. When installed a unique code is required to start the car. If code is not inserted car will not start..
@@saj1981 unless someone has one of those code readers
Very sad, but build a better mousetrap and you get a smarter mouse. My old Honda was stolen twice in Arizona with a modified key filed down. Had to use an iron clutch lock to prevent theft...till one day I forgot and next day it was gone. Only really effective protection is a separate hidden lock system, or a pit bull sleeping in car 😂
Just to tell you, I put iron on the steering wheel and iron on the tire and now if they have to lift it, it has to be with a crane :))))
secret rocker switch that interrupts the signal to the starter. People have been doing it for decades. Re-wire the signal wire (the small one) for the starter to go to a hidden switch under your seat or under the dash. Make it so the starter will only work when you hold down that button. It's a little bit of work, and it's annoying to have 1 more step to start your car, but 99% of thieves aren't going to know how to get around it. If they towed your car away and had a long time to diagnose the problem, they would be able to bypass this, but most thieves are looking to be gone in a minute or less
